The doctor prescribed some medicine and told her to stay in bed and not move, but even then, her condition didn't improve. It seemed like the medicine had very limited effect on her.
Xu Mei had a strong feeling that the child might still be born on the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Her premonition was accurate.
Just after the Mid-Autumn Festival, Xu Mei showed signs of labor and was pushed into the delivery room.
"Only eight months." Guan Jinghua was sweating anxiously at the door. After all, there is a folk saying that goes, "You live on the seventh month but not the eighth month."
"Eight months isn't too early," the doctor reassured her. "The fetus is almost fully developed. As a family member, please remain calm and don't upset the mother."
Guan Jinghua quickly shut up, watched the door close, and paced around the door anxiously.
I would put my ear to the door from time to time, but even though I couldn't hear any sound from inside, I couldn't sit down quietly.
On the other side of the wall, Xu Mei fainted briefly from the pain and then woke up. When the baby was born, her eyes lost focus for a moment.
I didn't know where I was or who I was. I could only vaguely hear the anxious voices of doctors and nurses, as if I had encountered some emergency.
Xu Mei was too tired and didn't have the energy to think too much. When she heard the late, soft crying, her heart tightened and she immediately turned her head to look towards the crying sound.
The red baby's face still had a faint purple bruise that had not yet faded. The nurse was picking her up from the resuscitation table, and a balloon suction tube for clearing the airway was placed next to her.
Seeing her waving her hands and the medical staff's relieved expressions, Xu Mei suddenly felt scared.
During the few minutes when I lost consciousness, my child actually underwent emergency treatment.
"Is it a girl or a boy?" Xu Mei asked softly.
The sound was very soft, but the nurse standing next to her heard it. "It's a girl, very healthy, don't worry."
Xu Mei felt a little relieved, but fatigue surged over her heart and she soon fell asleep.
Outside the door, the doctors' instructions to Guan Jinghua were completely different. The child was wrapped very tightly, and Guan Jinghua only had time to take a quick look before he was carried away by the nurse.
"It's a girl. She wasn't breathing when she was born. Although she's been revived, she still needs to stay in the incubator for a few days to see how she performs."
After taking off his mask, the doctor's expression became a little serious.
Guan Jinghua was too happy to have a granddaughter. She was so frightened by the lack of breathing that her face turned pale. Naturally, she followed the doctor's instructions and nodded repeatedly, saying, "Okay, okay, doctor, you must cure our child."
"Don't worry."
The medical staff hurried away, and when Xu Mei was pushed out and returned to the ward, Guan Jinghua stayed by her daughter's side, holding her hand tightly.
She looked at Xu Mei's pale face, her heartache was beyond words, and she was reluctant to look away for a long time.
Until I heard footsteps.
Guan Jinghua looked up and saw Qin Dongling, who had not been seen for a long time, rushing in. He put the things he carried on the empty bed on the other side and squatted directly beside Xu Mei's bed.
He held her other hand tightly, put it against his face, and his eyes were red with heartache and guilt.
