Chapter 550 Hypocrisy

"Hehe, no matter what, I am still very grateful to Mr. Ye for saving my old man." Meng Changyou suddenly laughed: "From now on, Mr. Ye will be an honored guest of the Meng family. In this small town of Yun City, no matter what the matter is, Mr. Ye, please feel free to ask."

"Well, thank you very much, Mr. Meng. But if I ever need anything in the future, I hope you won't find me annoying." Ye Xingchen smiled.

"How could that be?" Meng Changyou smiled, the two of them understanding each other without saying a word.

"Brother Ye, you haven't left yet? I just settled the old man in. I'll take you back." Just then, Meng Hu ran out.

Seeing that Ye Xingchen hadn't left yet, he excitedly ran over.

“Okay then,” Ye Xingchen said.

"Second Uncle, Grandpa said he's fine and you don't need to worry. If there's nothing else, you should go back and rest," Meng Hu said, turning his head.

"No need. The old man's condition isn't very stable. I think it's better for me to stay here and keep him company." Meng Changyou forced a smile, but it was somewhat insincere.

"Okay, Brother Ye, let's go." Meng Hu nodded, then took Ye Xingchen into the car and drove away.

Meng Changyou watched the car slowly drive away, sneered, and turned to walk back.

"Brother Ye, what are you and my second uncle talking about?" Meng Hu asked with a smile.

"It's nothing, just asking about your father's condition," Ye Xingchen said.

"Really?" Meng Hu smiled. "Actually, you don't need to hide it from me. He must have said some bad things to you."

"Why would you think that?" Ye Xingchen glanced at Meng Hu in surprise.

“Others may not understand, but I do understand my second uncle.” Meng Hu paused and said, “He has a strong desire for control. When Grandpa was sick and hospitalized, he was the one who contacted the specialists and the hospital.”

"They had already declared that Grandpa wouldn't make it through the night, but your appearance changed that. So, for my second uncle, these things are now beyond his control."

"It seems you're not entirely without any thoughts after all." Ye Xingchen glanced at Meng Hu with surprise.

A seemingly honest and simple appearance does not mean that there are no complicated thoughts in one's heart.

"Ha, appearances are all for show," Meng Hu waved his hand and said, "Truly intelligent people hide their inner thoughts."

“Smart.” Ye Xingchen nodded: “That’s right. To your second uncle, I was indeed an accident. If it weren’t for me, your grandfather might not have made it through tonight.”

"I want to know why my grandfather suddenly became critically ill," Meng Hu asked seriously.

"You want to know the real reason? What do you think the real reason is?" Ye Xingchen turned his head and glanced at Meng Hu.

"I think it must be related to my second uncle." Meng Hu stopped the car, opened the window, lit a cigarette, and looked preoccupied.

“Since you already know the answer, then don’t ask me anymore. I don’t want to get involved in the Meng family’s affairs,” Ye Xingchen said.

"Did he really do it?" Meng Hu's eyes flashed with a ruthless glint: "He dared to lay a hand on Grandpa? I'll kill him."

"See? You're still a bit reckless." Ye Xingchen smiled. "Your grandfather didn't want me to tell you these things because he was worried that you might do something unpredictable in your anger."

"I advise you to pretend you don't know, otherwise you might ruin your grandfather's plans. Anyway, you know what kind of person your second uncle is, so just keep that in mind."

“Of course I know what kind of person he is.” Meng Hu paused for a moment and said, “He wants to redistribute the power in Yun City and also wants to break the pattern of the three provinces surrounding Yun City.”

"But for so long, Grandpa has been keeping him in check, preventing him from making any rash moves. If anyone in the Meng family wants my grandfather to die soon, it must be him."

"I've discovered you're not as reckless as you seem on the surface." Ye Xingchen looked at Meng Hu, becoming increasingly interested in the guy. "So, your acknowledgment of me as your elder brother also had a purpose?"

"No, I really admire you and want to be your underling." Meng Hu smiled awkwardly and denied it outright.

"Don't rush to deny it. If it is, it is; if it isn't, it isn't." Ye Xingchen sighed and said, "Your father has been gone for a long time. The Meng family's huge business should all belong to your uncle Meng Changyou, but your grandfather has always doted on you."

"So you are the only person who poses a threat to Meng Changyou. If you think about it that way, then everything makes sense. In order to protect yourself, you pretend to be deaf and dumb, and act like you are all brawn and no brain. In fact, you are not simple-minded at all."

“Mr. Ye…” Meng Hu gave a wry smile: “If I do this, will Mingzhe be able to protect himself without any problems?”

"There's no problem," Ye Xingchen said with a slight smile. "In a family business like yours, it's perfectly normal for relatives to kill each other and for siblings to turn against each other."

“I’m glad Mr. Ye understands. In any case, I want to thank Mr. Ye for saving my old man today. Otherwise, he might not have made it.” Meng Hu said seriously, “So I want to know, what is the reason for his sudden critical condition?”

"I can't hide it from you anymore. You're putting on such a convincing act that even Old Master Meng was fooled." Ye Xingchen sighed and said, "Let me be frank, your old man isn't sick, he's been poisoned."

"Snake venom?" Meng Hu was taken aback. He subconsciously thought it was snake venom, but then shook his head and said, "No, this snake venom has been there for more than a month, and it has been cleared away long ago. My grandfather could not have suddenly become critically ill because of snake venom from a month ago."

“Not bad, you even considered that.” Ye Xingchen nodded approvingly: “Someone is using snake venom as a pretext to poison your old man. It has always been a slow-acting poison, but recently the toxicity has been increased.”

"I understand, thank you for reminding me, Mr. Ye." Meng Hu nodded.

"Understanding isn't enough; you need to know what to do next," Ye Xingchen said. "My advice is to hold back, after all, your uncle was raised by your grandfather."

“No matter how powerful this guy is, your grandfather knows him well. He can’t escape Old Master Meng’s grasp. If you act impulsively, you might ruin the old man’s plans.”

"I understand, Mr. Ye. Don't worry, I'll remain still. I want to see what my uncle really wants." Meng Hu sneered and restarted the car.

Just then, an unfamiliar phone number called; it was a local number from Yun City.

Ye Xingchen was a little confused, as he didn't know anyone here. As soon as he answered the phone, Zhenzhen's voice came through: "Brother Xingchen."
