Chapter 325 What a coincidence!

"But let me make this clear in advance: you can't do heavy work until you've fully recovered, or it will be a waste of your time and effort."

"Okay, okay, I'll listen to you, I'll do whatever you say." Master Ding excitedly grasped Ye Xingchen's hands: "Thank you."

"Master, I will report this news to the chief immediately so that you can return to the police force after you recover." Bai Zilin was also overjoyed.

"Great, I never thought I'd be able to go back after all these years." Old Ding was so excited that tears welled up in his eyes.

Ye Xingchen and Bai Zilin gave Lao Ding a set of exercise techniques and prescribed medicine, then left together.

Bai Zilin's attitude towards Ye Xingchen was clearly different from before; her eyes were full of admiration when she looked at Ye Xingchen.

"Don't look at me like that, it's weird," Ye Xingchen said somewhat awkwardly.

"Thank you so much for what happened just now. If it weren't for you, I would have carried this guilt for the rest of my life." Bai Zilin lowered her head: "Back then, because of my recklessness, my master was bedridden. Now that I see him getting better, I am truly happy."

"So, remember this from now on," Ye Xingchen said seriously. "Some things can't be done on a whim. As a police officer, you must protect yourself in order to be able to solve cases, understand?"

"I understand." Bai Zilin was unusually obedient, and then she said excitedly, "I'll treat you to dinner. You saved me and my master. I really have to thank you properly."

"Okay, you decide on the location. You're going to handle a case before you finish eating?" Ye Xingchen said with a smile.

"Just grab something to eat, I'll treat you properly next time when I have more time." Bai Zilin nodded earnestly.

This place is an urban village, and the environment is rather chaotic. Ye Xingchen and Bai Zilin are not particular people, so they just randomly found a table set up at the entrance and sat down.

"I just heard you say that a special task force has been set up? The case you're in charge of isn't an ordinary case, is it?" Ye Xingchen asked.

"Yes, I'm the team leader. Six girls have gone missing, and one of them has connections in her family. They went directly to the Municipal Bureau." Bai Zilin said, "This is Yanjing, right under the emperor's nose. We can't help but take this kind of thing seriously."

"Girls aged fifteen to eighteen, from wealthy families." Ye Xingchen frowned slightly: "Things seem to be a bit complicated."

“It’s definitely not simple, but we haven’t figured out the motive yet,” Bai Zilin said. “The task force is analyzing the characteristics of these missing girls, trying to find some clues, but so far we haven’t found anything.”

"No rush. Now that it's in your hands, there's no case you can't solve." Ye Xingchen smiled slightly. "Your abilities are quite good. It would be better if you weren't so reckless. It's always better to be more cautious."

"I took that as a compliment?" Bai Zilin rolled her eyes at Ye Xingchen.

"I guess so," Ye Xingchen nodded.

Just then, two people carrying sacks walked out of a shopping mall across the street.

Ye Xingchen and Bai Zilin's gazes simultaneously fell on the sack being carried.

The shopping mall across the street is a clothing wholesale market. There are many people buying goods, and it's normal to see them carrying out sacks, which are mostly filled with clothes.

However, the sack being carried by the two burly men seemed quite heavy, and they were struggling to lift it.

Two burly men looked around, quickly lifted the sacks, loaded them into a van, and drove off.

Bai Zilin jumped up and took off running to chase after him.

"I just praised you, and you've already forgotten." Ye Xingchen said helplessly. He turned around, stood up, and caught up with Bai Zilin.

This time, Bai Zilin didn't act recklessly. She directly commandeered a taxi and blocked the van.

"This doesn't seem simple?" Ye Xingchen asked.

“I’m a criminal investigation team leader, after all. That sack wasn’t big, but it looked heavy. It might contain a person.” Bai Zilin said as she contacted the bureau and reported her location.

"Remove the possibilities, and it's just people inside," Ye Xingchen said calmly. "It's good that you didn't rush in impulsively this time."

“There’s more than one missing girl. If this group really is human traffickers, then I’m really lucky,” Bai Zilin said. “I have to follow them and find out where they are.”

“Good, you’ve learned to think. In that situation, if you had rushed in, you might have saved one person, but you definitely wouldn’t have been able to save the others who are missing,” Ye Xingchen nodded.

“We police officers understand all this.” Bai Zilin couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Ye Xingchen: “I’m not as idiotic as you think, am I?”

"Sorry, I misspoke." Ye Xingchen smiled. "Stay close, or we'll lose track of you."

Bai Zilin stopped talking and drove after the van.

The car drove into a village in the city that was slated for demolition and then disappeared without a trace.

Bai Zilin was unfamiliar with the roads here, so Ye Xingchen got out of the car with her and followed the tracks to a corner, where they saw the traces of a car.

Just as Bai Zilin was about to step forward, Ye Xingchen grabbed her.

She turned around, a questioning look on her face.

Ye Xingchen pointed upwards, and Bai Zilin followed his finger and saw a camera with its back to the two of them.

A chill ran down her spine as she realized that if this was a gang operation, the perpetrators would be very careful, and the location would be heavily monitored.

If Ye Xingchen hadn't reminded her, she would have rushed in headfirst, which would have inevitably alerted the enemy.

"This way." Ye Xingchen pointed to a side path and walked over first.

Bai Zilin followed closely without saying a word.

The two followed the side road, bypassed the surveillance cameras, and then followed the tire tracks from before.

Just then, a person dressed somewhat like an indigenous person walked over from the side, humming a little tune as he went, completely ignoring Ye Xingchen and Bai Zilin.

As he passed by Ye Xingchen, Ye Xingchen swiftly struck him with a chop to the neck, knocking him unconscious. Then, she grabbed the man and dragged him to a secluded corner.

"What are you doing?" Bai Zilin was startled. This person looked like a passerby, and he was knocked unconscious just by walking by. Doesn't this seem a bit unfair?

"Do you think he's a native of the urban village?" Ye Xingchen gently placed the man on the ground without making a sound.

"Isn't that right?" Bai Zilin looked at the person in surprise.

The person who fainted on the ground had rough skin and looked like someone who was used to hard labor. Although this urban village was slated for demolition and most people had moved away, some people who worked in Yanjing still lived here because there was no water or electricity, but the rent was cheap.
