Chapter 461 I Can't Take It Anymore

"I said, it's time to take your medicine." Chen Zhengyi felt his dignity as the head of the family had been challenged, and his voice involuntarily rose.

"Okay, put it there." Bai Yingyun finally responded.

"I won't be at ease until I see you drink it with my own eyes." Chen Zhengyi stood there, showing no intention of leaving.

Bai Yingyun stopped what she was doing, opened her eyes, stood up and walked to Chen Zhengyi.

Looking at the bowl of nauseating medicine, she made no attempt to hide the disgust in her eyes.

"Drink it." Chen Zhengyi picked up the medicine, a barely perceptible glint in the depths of his eyes.

Bai Yingyun took the medicine from his hand. This time, she didn't drink it directly. Instead, she looked up at Chen Zhengyi and said, "What kind of medicine is this? I've never asked you about it all these years. Now I want to know."

"You haven't asked all these years, why are you suddenly asking now?" Chen Zhengyi paused and said, "Don't ask any more questions. You just need to know that I won't harm you."

“But now, I don’t want to live in a daze anymore.” Bai Yingyun said in a deep voice, “Tell me, what is this thing?”

“You’ve been confused for twenty years. Keep being confused. There’s no point in being sober now,” Chen Zhengyi said slowly.

Bai Yingyun picked up the bowl of medicine, held it high above her head, and then, under Chen Zhengyi's astonished gaze, slammed the bowl heavily to the ground.

Crash! The porcelain bowl shattered into pieces, and the medicine inside spilled all over the floor.

Chen Zhengyi's face immediately darkened, and he roared in a low voice, "Bai Yingyun, you are my wife."

“This family has long been broken. Others can do whatever they want to me, but not you. You must obey me completely.”

"Yes, so I obeyed your every word? And then you took my trust and used these nerve-numbing drugs to control me?" Bai Yingyun sneered.

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Chen Zhengyi's expression changed slightly.

"Since I've said this, it means I already know everything." Bai Yingyun smiled. "So there's no need for you to pretend you don't know in front of me anymore."

A strange glint flashed in Chen Zhengyi's eyes. Bai Yingyun already knew what he had done, which was something he hadn't expected. But this kind of man was too chauvinistic, and he would never admit defeat.

"Everything I do is for your own good."

"Heh, Chen Zhengyi, aren't you disgusting? You control me, drive me crazy, and you still dare to say it's for my own good?" Bai Yingyun almost laughed: "Stop showing that face of yours."

"Don't you think you're a failure? Why don't you try to control Xia Hanyue? It's because you know you can't control her at all. You've taken advantage of my kindness and controlled me for my whole life. What more do you want?"

Chen Zhengyi stared at her, his gaze revealing a strange look; he was truly furious.

"And I'll tell you again today, you're no match for Ye Jinyu, you're not even as good as one of his fingers," Bai Yingyun sneered.

"You want to die? I'll grant your wish now." Chen Zhengyi was furious. These were the words he hated most in his life. He strode forward and grabbed Bai Yingyun by the neck.

Bai Yingyun was immediately unable to roar, but she still stared at Chen Zhengyi with murderous eyes. Although her expression was painful, there was a hint of relief in her eyes.

"You want to die? Not so easy." Chen Zhengyi reacted quickly. He threw Bai Yingyun to the ground and sneered, "I will control you and make you live in my shadow for the rest of your life. Remember, you are mine in life and in death. You can never escape."

After saying this, Chen Zhengyi strode out, shouting, "Listen carefully, from today onwards, she is not allowed to step out of the room without my permission."

As the footsteps faded into the distance, Chen Zhengyi had already left. Bai Yingyun struggled to her feet, a resolute look on her face.

She stood there for a long time, then sat down at the dressing table, dressed herself up beautifully, took out a lighter, and set the bed sheet on fire.

The flames spread rapidly, and the entire bedroom was engulfed in flames. She stood in front of the fire, a look of unprecedented relief on her face.

She was free; she would never have to live in that oppressive environment again.

"Oh no, there's a fire! Quick, save Madam!" The bodyguards outside panicked when they saw the smoke rising. They pounded on the door, trying to rescue Bai Yingyun from inside.

But the door was locked tight; despite several attempts to ram it, it wouldn't budge...

Chen Zhengyi's villa was burned to ashes by the raging fire.

However, Bai Yingyun was eventually rescued. In the midst of the chaos, a bodyguard broke through the window and rescued her from the second floor.

Lying in her hospital bed, she had no water. Since she couldn't commit self-immolation, she decided to starve herself to death.

"Do you really want to die?" Chen Zhengyi looked at Bai Yingyun, who was lying on the hospital bed dripping wet, and suddenly felt a wave of despair.

They had been married for twenty years, and he had been trying to please her and control her in every way possible.

But in the end, this is the result. It proves that once a person's thoughts are formed, there is no way to change them.

Bai Yingyun turned her head to one side and remained silent.

"I won't force you to take your medicine anymore, and I won't try to control you anymore. Let's... start over?" When Chen Zhengyi said these words, it meant that he had admitted defeat.

"I have something I'd like to ask you." Bai Yingyun turned her head and looked directly at Chen Zhengyi.

"Go on," Chen Zhengyi said, delighted, thinking that Bai Yingyun had come to her senses.

"After I die, take my ashes as far west as possible, preferably scatter them above Jinluo City, because that way I will be closer to Ye Jinyu." Bai Yingyun pleaded, "This is the only thing I'm asking of you in my life, I hope you can agree."

Chen Zhengyi remained silent, his expression filled with anger, clearly having reached the limit of his patience.

After saying this, Bai Yingyun slowly closed her eyes. She could no longer find any meaning in life.

"You can leave." Chen Zhengyi was utterly disheartened. "I'm letting you go, giving you your freedom. From today onwards, you, me, and the Chen family have nothing to do with each other."

"You ruined my life, what's the point of letting me go now?" Bai Yingyun laughed, but as she laughed, tears streamed down her face. Between sobs, she screamed hysterically, "Can you give me back everything I've lost?"

"I owe you something in this life." Chen Zhengyi sighed. After hesitating for a long time, he gritted his teeth and finally said what he had kept hidden in his heart for decades: "Don't feel like your life is meaningless."
