Chapter 468 Are you guys looking for death?

The once clear sky is now completely dark, filled with black mist, and the temperature has plummeted.

The Vajra emitted a faint glow, but the black aura was too thick, and this faint glow was almost negligible under its cover.

"Meng Miao, let go." Cheng Xinrui was taken aback because he noticed that Meng Miao was still slowly approaching Shi Lian.

The stone lotus was already floating in mid-air, surrounded by black mist, which seemed to be an invisible maw that was about to devour Meng Miao along with the Vajra Wu in her hand.

"I can't let go, it's going to suck me in!" Meng Miao cried out in terror.

Cheng Xinrui threw down his notebook and was about to pull her back.

"Don't come any closer," Meng Miao stopped Cheng Xinrui in time. "Continue recording."

“You’re in danger…” Cheng Xinrui exclaimed.

"It's alright. As long as I can prove the existence of the soul, it's worth the danger." Meng Miao was a stubborn person. She felt that it was worth taking any risk to prove what she thought.

Cheng Xinrui didn't care about anything else and reached out to grab her arm, but as soon as he grabbed it, he was also pulled in by an invisible force.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't pull Meng Miao away, and the two of them were sucked into that invisible maw.

At this critical moment, a murmur rang out: "A single thought deviating from truth is all delusion..."

With this murmur, a buzzing sound was heard, and a golden beam of Buddhist light descended from the sky.

With a boom, the Buddha's light transformed into a giant golden bell, enveloping the stone lotus and isolating it from the outside world.

The devouring power emanating from the stone lotus vanished instantly, and the two of them collapsed to the ground with a thud.

With a flash, Su Ruochu and Ye Xingchen appeared together. She waved her right hand, and the black stone lotus slowly floated up and fell into her hand.

"This is... the Boundless Netherworld?" Su Ruochu slightly raised her palm, and a black lotus slowly floated above her palm.

"Is there something locked inside?" Ye Xingchen asked.

“Yes, it’s something very evil, and it should be traced back to ancient times.” Su Ruochu closed her eyes and let her consciousness penetrate into the black lotus.

Suddenly, she frowned and took several steps back. Her blood and qi surged, and a force penetrated her body. Even she could not resist this force for a moment.

Ye Xingchen was startled. He stepped forward, reached out and grasped Su Ruochu's hand, and transferred a stream of true energy to her.

Su Ruochu's delicate body trembled, and she exhaled a long breath.

She stretched out her hand, and saw a wisp of black energy rising and falling in her palm. She exhaled her true energy and flung the black energy out of her palm.

"The seal has loosened; I'll reseal it." Su Ruochu slowly pointed her right hand upwards, her five fingers moving in succession, constantly changing the hand seals.

Several large characters appeared, swirling around the black lotus, before slowly falling and disappearing into it.

The power on the black lotus completely disappeared, and it fell to the ground with a thud. Su Ruochu stepped forward, picked it up, and placed it in her palm.

"Where did this come from?" Ye Xingchen glared at Cheng Xinrui.

"Brother Ye." Cheng Xinrui was genuinely frightened. He stammered, "My classmate's father found it during an archaeological dig, so we took it out to study it."

"Would you like to study this and see if it's useful for exorcising demons?" Ye Xingchen pointed to the magical artifact that had fallen to the ground. "Is this something you can just study casually?"

"We just wanted to confirm the existence of the soul." Meng Miao breathed a sigh of relief, but she still looked at the black lotus with lingering fear.

“Little sister, some things are better left unverified,” Su Ruochu said. “This thing is extremely dangerous. Even I can’t identify the contents inside, so I’ve confiscated it. Have your parents contact me later, and I will explain to them.”

“Okay.” Meng Miao nodded, not arguing at all.

"You should be glad I happened to be nearby, otherwise you two probably wouldn't even have found your bodies today." Ye Xingchen glared at Cheng Xinrui: "You're about to take the college entrance exam, why aren't you studying properly? What are you doing messing around with these weird and strange things?"

"Brother Ye, high school material is boring to learn, and the exams aren't difficult for me either," Cheng Xinrui said somewhat embarrassedly. "We're just interested in these things."

"Curiosity killed the cat. So many people get into trouble every year playing with Ouija boards and spirit boards. I'll find the files and show you how bad it is." Ye Xingchen said, "Alright, let's go back. You guys are really something."

"The seal on this thing is loose, but it's fine as long as it doesn't absorb too much yin energy. Who taught you to take this thing to the vicinity of the cemetery for research?"

Meng Miao blushed: "I came up with this method because I wanted to prove the existence of the soul..."

"What's the point of proving this? If it exists, it exists. There's no need to prove it. If it doesn't exist, proving it won't make a difference," Ye Xingchen said.

"I was just curious," Meng Miao said, looking up at the two men. "Uncle, I think you're no ordinary person..."

"Uncle?" Ye Xingchen almost spat out a mouthful of blood. "Am I that old? Aren't you and Cheng Xinrui classmates? He calls me brother and you call me uncle, isn't that taking advantage of him?"

"Oh, sorry, wrong name." Meng Miao chuckled. "I can tell you and my sister aren't ordinary people. Could you... lend me a hand?"

"Help you with what? Help you prove the existence of the soul?" Su Ruochu smiled faintly.

“Yes.” Meng Miao nodded: “I’ve tried many methods using quantum physics, but I haven’t been able to prove it.”

“You’re going in the wrong direction.” Su Ruochu shook her head and said, “Some things can’t be proven by scientific methods; you have to use metaphysics.”

“I know that the end of science is metaphysics, so can you help me?” Meng Miao said sincerely.

"Are you sure? There are some things it's better not to know, otherwise you might not be able to sleep soundly in the future," Su Ruochu said with a smile.

“It’s okay, my dad is an archaeologist. I slept in tombs with him when I was a child. I’m not afraid.” Meng Miao shook her head: “Besides, if these things are not verified, my research will come to a standstill.”

"Alright then, let your 'uncle' give you a hand." Su Ruochu looked at Ye Xingchen and grinned.

Ye Xingchen was both amused and exasperated; it was truly unbelievable that a little girl would call him "uncle."

"Stand still." He walked helplessly to Meng Miao, reached out and wiped her eyes, a stream of energy passing through them.

"Look there." Ye Xingchen gestured for her to look at the center of the riverbed.

A hint of confusion flashed in Meng Miao's eyes. When she looked towards the middle of the river, she gasped slightly and pointed at the water: "What's wrong with that person...?"

"Don't point." Ye Xingchen slapped her hand away.

As Meng Miao stretched out her hand, the 'person' standing in the middle of the river suddenly turned around slowly and met Meng Miao's gaze.
