"You little brat, I'll fight you to the death!" The couple was furious and stood up, ready to fight, but Chen Hu's subordinates waved them off.
"Drag them out and beat them." Chen Hu already understood Ye Xingchen's meaning; he certainly wouldn't give the couple a kind look.
A group of people dragged a family of three out, and outside came a series of wailing and howling sounds.
Liu Ying covered her ears, unwilling to listen; her feelings were extremely complicated.
"If you're not ruthless, you can't stand firm," Ye Xingchen comforted him. "If you're ruthless enough to resolve things once and for all, they won't dare to come back."
"Yes, thank you." Liu Ying's eyes were slightly red. In Yanjing, Ye Xingchen was the first person she thought of when anything happened.
"Get some rest. Don't worry, they won't come back," Ye Xingchen said with a smile.
After dealing with the family of three, Chen Hu approached Ye Xingchen and said, "Mr. Ye, I'll send them back to their hometown and have people keep watch over them. If they dare to have any other ideas, we'll beat them up."
"Okay, you've done a good job." Ye Xingchen nodded.
"It is my honor to be able to share Mr. Ye's burdens," Chen Hu said quickly.
"Is there any news from Li Jincheng's side?" Ye Xingchen asked.
“He’s desperately trying to find a doctor for his son, but I’m afraid it’s too late,” Chen Hu said. “He only has one son, and he’ll probably be furious.”
"You're quite patient," Ye Xingchen sneered. "If it were anyone else, they would have already come after me to fight, right?"
"Yes, this guy is a cunning old fox, very patient." Chen Hu nodded.
“Then we’ll find an opportunity to add fuel to the fire,” Ye Xingchen said seriously. “But we still need to be careful, to see if he’s making any underhanded moves.”
"Ye Xingchen." Just then, Lin Nianwei called.
"What's wrong?" Ye Xingchen asked.
"I have a party tomorrow night, and I'm going alone," Lin Nianwei said coquettishly. "You're the only person I know in Yanjing."
"Understood, I'll go with you." Ye Xingchen nodded without hesitation.
"You promised, you can't go back on your word." Lin Nianwei was overjoyed.
"Don't worry, I won't go back on my word." Ye Xingchen smiled wryly.
"See you tomorrow then." Lin Nianwei laughed happily, then hung up the phone.
"Mr. Ye, shall I take you back?" Chen Hu asked.
"No need, I can go back by myself." Ye Xingchen shook his head. He was about to open the car door, but he stopped.
Following his gaze, they saw a figure walking out of the darkness; it was Chen Hu's younger brother, Chen Qing.
"Mr. Ye, brother," Chen Qing greeted him.
"Chen Qing, didn't you have a cocktail party tonight? Why are you here?" Chen Hu was taken aback.
"I finished early, so I came here to take a look around." Chen Qing smiled. "Mr. Ye, are you going back? Let me see you off."
"No need." Ye Xingchen glanced at Chen Qing, who was shrouded in darkness, with only his rimless glasses faintly shining.
"Then take care, Mr. Ye." Chen Qing bowed slightly and smiled.
Ye Xingchen nodded, got into the car, and left.
“Brother, he’s gone, you don’t need to hunch over anymore.” Chen Qing glanced at Chen Hu, who was still habitually hunched over.
"What do you know?" Chen Hu straightened up and muttered, "This Mr. Ye is not as simple as you think."
"It's nothing more than having a better background and a powerful mother." Chen Qing said with disdain, "If I were him, I would have achieved even more than he has now."
"Shut up! How dare you discuss Mr. Ye's affairs so casually?" Chen Hu snapped.
Chen Qing shut his mouth, but after a moment he still said with some resentment, "How much longer do we have to be so subservient? I've had enough of this kind of life."
Chen Hu raised his head and stared intently at Chen Qing without saying a word.
Chen Qing felt uneasy under his gaze and guiltily shrank back, asking, "What's wrong, brother?"
"Do you find it unpleasant to live under someone else's thumb these days?" Chen Hu asked.
"Isn't that right? Our abilities are not lacking, but you have too many concerns. Why must we depend on the Tang family?" Chen Qing asked, looking up.
"Hehe, where do you think this is? This is Yanjing, right under the emperor's nose. The ways of doing things overseas don't work here. Don't think that just because you've been away for a while, you've broadened your horizons."
Chen Hu said coldly, "If it weren't for the Tang family, the Four Cities Godfathers wouldn't exist at all. The reason we exist is precisely because of the Tang family's control over us."
"And don't forget our past life after a few good days." Chen Hu gritted his teeth: "I hope you don't forget that I borrowed money until late at night to support your high school education, enduring the ridicule of relatives, and in the end, I couldn't borrow a single penny."
“I will always remember that day, but I do remember that you borrowed the money.” Chen Qing was taken aback.
“That’s what I earned by selling my blood.” Chen Hu coldly said, “You’re a top student, and you may look down on my servility, but some people are born with ability. I’d rather greet them with a smile than live a life where I lose all my dignity for a few hundred yuan and end up having to sell my blood to earn it.”
After saying those words, Chen Hu turned and left, leaving Chen Qing standing there, looking at Chen Hu's back with a hesitant and somewhat unwilling expression.
The following evening, a banquet was being held at a five-star hotel.
Ye Xingchen and Lin Nianwei entered together. This banquet was semi-exchangeable; to put it bluntly, it was a place for directors to attract investment, screenwriters to promote their scripts, actors to find investors and acting contracts, and various managers to mingle and hand out their business cards.
"You were doing so well over there, why did you have to come to Yanjing?" Ye Xingchen asked Lin Nianwei.
"No matter how powerful Tianhai is, it's still just a small place." Lin Nianwei held Ye Xingchen's arm and smiled and nodded to everyone who came towards them, whether she knew them or not.
“Development would be constrained, and the company is already stable there, so I came to Yanjing to seek a way out. If I can establish myself in Yanjing, it will be better for the company’s development.”
"What about your suitor, Geng Yuan?" Ye Xingchen asked curiously. He remembered that Lin Nianwei's mother had intended to match her with a guy named Geng Yuan, who was coming back to inherit the family business, which also dealt in traditional Chinese medicine.
“Geng’s Pharmaceuticals has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, but its overseas expansion has encountered bottlenecks. He’s too busy to pay attention to me, and…” Lin Nianwei said, then leaned close to Ye Xingchen’s ear and said, “I consider myself your man, and no other man can catch my eye anymore.”
Ye Xingchen smiled awkwardly and stopped discussing the topic.
Just then, a woman in her thirties, but very well-maintained, walked over, surrounded by a group of directors and investors.
