It seems this thing has been lingering here for quite some time. The snakeskin that has shed its skin is its last transformation. This thing is different from those fast-moving monsters; it can even transform into human form.
As you walk forward through the cave, you see a thug huddled on the ground, trembling with fear.

Snakes are known for their lustful nature, and this python, after transforming into human form, had an even stronger craving for sex. Coincidentally, Gu Manyun was nearby, so she was targeted.
If Ye Xingchen had arrived any later, this woman would probably have been pregnant with a snake fetus.
