Before long, Ren Jin found another spot for Gu Yueji. When it was her turn for the check-up, he carefully helped her into the prenatal examination room.
While the doctor was examining Gu Yueji, he stood quietly to the side, occasionally glancing at the doctor with questioning eyes. When he saw the ultrasound image of the baby on the screen, the blurry little figure even reaching out its tiny hand, he looked at Gu Yueji with surprise. They smiled at each other silently, their inner excitement making them hold each other's hands tightly, conveying that indescribable happiness and joy.
It was almost noon by the time all the examinations were completed. After Ren Jin helped Gu Yueji into the car, he couldn't help but take out the ultrasound report to look at it again. The little one was quite lively, with its arms and legs stretched upwards.
“This little guy seems to be like me,” Ren Jin said with pride.
Gu Yueji smiled and nodded in agreement, "I think it's good to be like you."
She wanted a son, preferably one like Ren Jin, handsome and reliable.
Ren Jin suddenly cupped Gu Yueji's face and kissed her. It wasn't a deep kiss, but a light, tender kiss on her lips. He kissed her for a while before stopping, then couldn't help but peck at her a few more times. He held her face in his hands, his eyes fixed on her.
Gu Yueji blushed under his gaze and hid in his arms, asking, "What are you doing?"
Ren Jin gently touched her belly. He had just seen the little one move in the examination room and felt it was amazing. Her body was actually carrying a little life, a little life with his bloodline. From now on, their lives would be completely inseparable.
She dodged his kiss, so Ren Jin lowered his head and kissed her ear. "Your checkup today was all normal, so I'll reward you with a kiss."
Gu Yueji immediately objected, "Who are you rewarding?"
Ren Jin nodded, "Yes, I've taken good care of you, so I'll reward myself too."
The two looked at each other and smiled, then embraced, quietly savoring the wonderful and happy feeling of becoming parents.
The pleasant atmosphere was shattered when the phone rang.
Ren Jin took the bag from the back seat and handed it to her. Gu Yueji took out her phone, her smile froze, and she answered the call after a few seconds.
"Your dad and I are at the train station now. You and your husband come pick us up," He Mei ordered Gu Yueji over the phone without even saying hello.
Gu Yueji was taken aback and sighed silently.
"Okay, I understand."
What was bound to happen has finally happened.
After hanging up the phone, she looked at Ren Jin.
Ren Jin remained calm. "It's alright, I'm here for you. You don't need to worry about anything."
When Gu Yueji took out his phone, he saw the caller ID. In the quiet carriage, He Mei's loud voice was also clearly audible, so Gu Yueji didn't need to repeat it.
