Ye Zurong came to return the money today because he wanted to have a good talk with Gu Yueji. "No, no need. I'm not saying you lied to me. I just didn't expect we spent so much money back then."
He paused, then said, "How about we split the 380,000 in half, and I'll give you back 200,000?"
Gu Yueji shook her head. "I won't take advantage of you. We can split it in half, and you can return the 190,000 to me. Would you prefer me to transfer it to your bank card or Alipay?"
"Bank card, please. I'll transfer 100,000 to you first, and I'll pay you back the rest in several installments, is that alright?"
"Okay, then sign an IOU." Gu Yueji said, taking out an IOU that had been written beforehand.
Ye Zurong hesitated when he saw the IOU, "There's no need to sign it, is there?"
Gu Yueji pushed the IOU in front of him, saying, "If you don't sign it, I won't take your money."
Seeing her resolute attitude, Ye Zurong finally had no choice but to sign the paper.
After signing, he looked at Gu Yueji with a gentle smile and reminisced with her, "Do you remember this restaurant? Didn't you always want to come here? But we didn't have any money back then. Did he think that by signing the IOU and paying her back, they would be even? That she would forgive him and they could rekindle their romance?
Gu Yueji put away the IOU and looked at him coldly. "My husband took me to this restaurant a long time ago. It was terrible. If you want to eat here, go ahead and eat it yourself. Just remember to send me the money." After saying that, she picked up her bag and left.
"Xiaoyue..." Ye Zurong called softly, in the same intimate tone he used to use when they were lovers.
Gu Yueji paused for a moment, then left without looking back.
Ye Zurong watched Gu Yueji's retreating figure, his gaze gradually dimming. The night Xiao Yao told him about Gu Yueji's wedding, his heart felt like it was being pricked by needles, a dense, piercing pain. He and Gu Yueji were each other's first love, sharing the beauty of their first stirrings of affection, the mutual support and companionship during their entrepreneurial journey. Moreover, his decision to abandon her and marry someone else wasn't because he didn't love Gu Yueji; he simply bowed to reality.
He couldn't sleep all night and couldn't help wanting to see Gu Yueji, so he used the excuse of repaying the money to ask her out.
The clothes Gu Yueji was wearing and the bag she was carrying were obviously expensive. Her face was no longer as worried as it had been when they started their business; now, she had a relaxed smile on her face.
She was actually better off without him, and she didn't miss their past at all.

However, one day, a call came from an unfamiliar number. Gu Yueji thought it was a sales call and didn't answer.

When Ren Jin came out of the shower, he saw Gu Yueji's excited expression. He raised an eyebrow, dried his hair, and sat down next to her.
Gu Yueji exchanged a glance with him, turned on speakerphone, and tossed the phone onto the sofa.
“I know, but my wife keeps bringing up our past relationship and arguing with me. You just need to meet with her and make it clear that we have no relationship.”
"What's there to say? We only met once last time, and haven't added each other on WeChat or even spoken on the phone since. What's so unclear about that?"
"If she doesn't believe me, you just need to talk to her face to face once, otherwise she'll keep arguing."
Gu Yueji was speechless and was about to refuse when she tapped the red button with one finger, ending the call.
Gu Yueji looked up at Ren Jin, who put his phone on silent on the coffee table. "Isn't this annoying? Can you block me?"
She also felt this was a mess, but, "he still has 90,000 yuan left to pay off."
He leaned back on the sofa, drying his hair as he looked at her. "I think the rest of the money is in jeopardy."
"No way, he gave me an IOU."
"I'm afraid his wife will come after you again."
