Chapter 112 I've heard that many women can't have children these days.

Ren Yayong's stubborn refusal to leave left Gu Yueji at a loss. She didn't want Ren Jin to be unhappy on his birthday because of Ren Yayong, but she couldn't forcefully kick him out, otherwise he might ruin Ren Jin's birthday party.

Gu Yueji could only suppress her displeasure and sat down on the other sofa. She then sent a WeChat message to Ren Jin, telling him that Ren Yayong had arrived.

Ren Jin replied quickly, saying he would come over now.

Ren Yayong noticed that Gu Yueji kept looking down at her phone and didn't even offer him a cup of hot tea.

"I'm thirsty, make me a cup of tea," Ren Yayong ordered Gu Yueji.

Gu Yueji glanced at him and called over a waiter to bring two cups of tea.

He had just taken a sip of tea when Ren Yayong said he wanted to eat fruit.

Gu Yueji did not refute, and continued to ask the waiter to bring more fruit.

I just thought the fruit would shut him up for a while, but Ren Yayong hadn't even swallowed the watermelon in his mouth when he started complaining that he was hungry and wanted to eat pastries.

Gu Yueji smiled and then lowered her head to play with her phone.

After Ren Yayong finished the last piece of watermelon, seeing that Gu Yueji still hadn't moved, he called out to her again, "I'm hungry, did you hear me?"

His attitude was rude and arrogant, but Gu Yueji didn't care. She just had a question in her mind: did Ren Yayong not know her name? Because he always gave her orders directly and never called her by name.

Puzzled, he looked down and sent a WeChat message to Ren Jin, asking if he had told his father what his wife's name was, completely ignoring Ren Yayong's response.

Ren Yayong paused, realizing that Gu Yueji was deliberately ignoring him.

From their first meeting, Gu Yueji treated him with such disrespect. She not only didn't treat him with the same respect as other daughters-in-law, but she didn't even take him, her father-in-law, seriously.

Ren Yayong grew angrier the more he thought about it, glaring at Gu Yueji with hatred. "What kind of attitude is this? I am Ren Jin's biological father, your father-in-law! Is this how a daughter-in-law should act?!"

Gu Yueji slowly raised her head and gave him a cold smile. "Biological father? Then may I ask, in these 31 years, have you fulfilled your responsibilities as a father to him?"

Ren Yayong's face darkened immediately upon being questioned, but Gu Yueji felt it wasn't enough.

"Do you remember his birthday? If no one told you, would you know that today is Ren Jin's birthday?"

"31 years, 31 birthdays, have you ever celebrated his birthday even once?"

Gu Yueji's nose became more and more sore as she spoke. She recalled the time a few days ago when she told Ren Jin that she would help him throw a birthday party. His eyes suddenly lit up, filled with surprise and joy. He hugged her and said that this was the first time someone had taken the initiative to celebrate his birthday. Gu Yueji felt a pang of heartache. It was something that others had experienced since childhood, but he was experiencing it for the first time.

"You think Ren Jin and I are unfilial to you? Ask yourself, why should we be filial to you? What right do you have to demand that we be filial to you?!"

Gu Yueji also grew up in an unhappy family, so she longed for a warm in-law family more than others. She once thought that she would treat her husband's parents very well, even better than her own parents. She was willing to live with her parents-in-law, cook and do housework to be filial to them, and only hoped to get along like biological parents and children to make up for the missing relationship with her parents.

It was precisely because she understood the feeling of being neglected by one's parents better than others that she felt even more heartbroken when she learned that Ren Jin's parents had neglected him since he was a child. At least she had parents by her side, but Ren Jin did not. No one cared about his food and clothing, no one helped or taught him. He had suffered so much on his own to get to where he is today, yet Ren Yayong now wanted to take advantage of his status as his biological father, wanting his son and daughter-in-law to be filial, wanting unconditional support, and wanting to share all of Ren Jin's wealth.

“I am Ren Jin’s biological father. If I hadn’t given birth to him, would there be a Ren Jin today?”

Ren Yayong, however, always believed that it was only natural and a matter of course for Ren Jin and Gu Yueji to be filial to him.

He was about to say something when the door was suddenly pushed open.

Ren Yajuan, standing at the door, saw the grim faces of the people in the private room and quickly walked to Gu Yueji's side, asking, "Yueji, are you alright?"

Gu Yueji called out to her aunt, then, seeing the worry on Ren Yajuan's face, shook her head blankly, "It's nothing, what's wrong?"

Ren Yajuan was a little out of breath as she sat down next to Gu Yueji. "Xiao Jin called me and said his dad was coming to the hotel. He was worried you'd be bullied, so he told me to come over first. I was on my way, so I rushed over."

Gu Yueji was taken aback. She hadn't received a reply to her WeChat message yet. It turned out that she had called her aunt, worried that her aunt had been bullied.

Ren Yayong heard Ren Yajuan's words: "What does Ren Jin mean? He knows I'm coming and he's afraid his wife will be bullied? Why doesn't he ask if his wife is being filial to me? When is he coming? I'm going to give him a good talking-to and teach him a lesson. Doesn't he know what it means to be filial to one's parents?"

Ren Yajuan sighed and looked at Ren Yayong, "Brother, today is Ren Jin's birthday, so please don't cause trouble."

Ren Yayong was shocked that his sister would say such things about him. "What are you saying! You didn't even ask how you know I'm causing trouble?! Why don't you ask them how they treat their father?"

Ren Yayong had been spreading rumors about Ren Jin's lack of filial piety because of the demolition compensation. Ren Yajuan had tried to persuade him several times, but he wouldn't listen. "You've never celebrated Ren Jin's birthday. What are you doing here if not causing trouble? Brother, if you still want Ren Jin to acknowledge you, then stop making trouble."

Ren Yayong is getting old now. On the one hand, he wants Ren Jin's demolished house, and on the other hand, he wants to acknowledge Ren Jin as his son. After all, having a capable son makes him proud. "I'm not here to cause trouble. I just want to celebrate Ren Jin's birthday."
