After several days of practical experience, Gu Yueji came to the conclusion that raising children is more tiring than working.
Ever since they agreed to have a child, Ren Jin has acted as if he has some kind of get-out-of-jail-free card, tormenting her in every way without restraint. As soon as she refuses, he immediately starts his performance, saying things like, "You don't want a baby anymore? The baby will be here soon. The baby will be very sad if it knows," leaving Gu Yueji feeling helpless and speechless.
It's good that he's going to work on the construction site now, so she can rest at home during the day. But what will she live like for a month when he gets a day off?
Gu Yueji's legs went weak and she wanted to run away.
The next day, after they finished eating, as Ren Jin was holding her and snuggling on the sofa watching TV, Gu Yueji suggested to him, "How about we go on a trip together when you have your vacation?"
Ren Jin raised an eyebrow, looking down at the person in his arms with surprise, "Why do you suddenly want to go on a trip?"
Gu Yueji complained in a low voice, "It's not a good idea for us to stay at home like this every day..."
Ren Jin looked at her resentful little face and couldn't help but chuckle as he pinched her cheek. "What? Don't you want to have a baby with me at home?"
Gu Yueji immediately bristled upon hearing this, pushing his hand away and sitting up straight. "Giving birth isn't something you can do like this! I don't know if you're tired, but you're definitely going to ruin my field!"
The aching back and weak legs hadn't subsided for days. He was so tireless. She didn't know if they were going to conceive, but she was sure she would be broken first.
Ren Jin listened, touched his nose, and chuckled.
He's been a bit too wild lately, mainly because he's inexplicably excited. The thought of the child being born at some point in time makes him especially excited.
Seeing that he remained silent, Gu Yueji grabbed Ren Jin's arm and began to use both soft and hard tactics.
"Come on, come on! I've never traveled before. Come with me. It'll help me get pregnant if I'm relaxed."
This was the best solution she had come up with after thinking about it all day. It would both distract him from something and allow them to go out for a walk together.
During her university years, whenever there was a holiday, her classmates would go on trips in twos and threes, but Gu Yueji never participated because she spent her holidays working part-time.
In all her years, the only cities she's ever been to besides her hometown are H City.
"You've never traveled?"
Ren Jin was surprised. Even though her family couldn't afford it when she was young, he thought that she and Ye Zurong had been dating for so many years and must have gone on trips together.
"No, have you been there?"
"Of course, I've also been abroad."
That was when he earned his first money from engineering projects. On a whim, he signed up for a tour to Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Like a country bumpkin, he found everything new and interesting, and couldn't understand a word of English.
Gu Yueji immediately expressed her dissatisfaction, "You've been abroad before, won't you even accompany me on a trip once?"
Ren Jin stopped teasing her and smiled, pointing to his lips. "Then kiss me, and I'll say yes."
Looking at him like this, Gu Yueji suddenly remembered the scene when he said he wanted to give her a home. He also asked her to kiss him before he agreed. Now, recalling it, she felt inexplicably emotional.
If she hadn't kissed him back then, wouldn't she have missed out on him and wouldn't have the happiness she has now?
Thinking of this, she couldn't wait to climb onto his neck and kiss him properly.
Ren Jin obediently lowered his head and supported her back; the two kissed in that position for a while.
"Where should we go? I can't think of anywhere right now."
After the kiss, Gu Yueji nestled against his chest, her voice softening.
Ren Jin gently rubbed his chin against the top of her head. "Last time we watched TV, you saw the scenery in Yunnan and said it was beautiful. Didn't you say you wanted to go?"
Gu Yueji's eyes lit up; she had completely forgotten that she had said that. "That's right, we can go to Yunnan!"
She excitedly leaned against him, looking at him, and asked, "Shall we go to Yunnan?"
In her bright, sparkling eyes, Ren Jin saw a clear reflection of himself. He cupped her head in his hands, lowered his head, and kissed her again. "Okay."
"So what do I need to do? Do I need to make a travel itinerary? Or should we sign up for a tour group? Haven't you been there before? Tell me and I'll prepare."
He still has to deal with things at the construction site, so it's only right that she go and make the preparations.
However, Ren Jin said, "You don't need to do anything, and you don't need to prepare anything."
Gu Yueji was taken aback. "Why?"
"I've already arranged the trip. When I have my holiday, we'll drive all the way to Yunnan and spend the Spring Festival there. What do you think?"
Gu Yueji's eyes widened in surprise. "You've been planning to travel with me all along?"
He said in a calm tone, "It wasn't that early. I only started making plans after you booked the plane tickets for Gu Jiahui."
Gu Yueji realized that he waited for her to book tickets for Jia Hui because he considered that she might want to go home or spend the New Year with her younger brother.
He said nothing, but always put her thoughts first.
Gu Yueji was so touched that she moved even closer to him. "Honey, you're so good to me. You can tell me in advance next time."
Ren Jin mimicked her tone, "I'm so good to you, so can you calm down a little after I've been bothering you?"
Gu Yueji's initial surge of emotion was immediately wiped away by him. Was he the legendary straight man, completely lacking in romance?
She slapped him on the chest, "It won't go away, how can you be so annoying!"
Ren Jin held her hand, hugged her, and laughed until his chest trembled.
Gu Yueji nestled in his arms and smiled silently.
No matter what kind of man he is, he is someone she is very grateful to have met, and he is the best husband she has ever had.
"Won't it cost a lot of money if we stay for so long?" Gu Yueji suddenly remembered a question.
Seeing her miserly nature resurface, Ren Jin deliberately threatened, "If you think it's too expensive, how about we just stay home and not go out for a month?"
Sure enough, Gu Yueji immediately shut up when she heard that she wouldn't be leaving the house for a month. "Go, go, go! I'll go pack my things right now!"
Watching her run to her room like a child, overjoyed, to find her suitcase, Ren Jin's eyes filled with laughter.
He was surprised to hear that she was going on a trip, and that they were so in sync.
He had wanted to travel with her for a long time because he didn't want her life to consist only of work and making money. He also wanted her to see different scenery and experience different lives.
He finally got her to give him a break, so he started planning the trip. Coincidentally, she mentioned wanting to go to Yunnan while they were watching TV together that night. So he searched for tourist attractions online, found someone to plan the route, and booked a stylish hotel, wanting to surprise her.
I do want to have a child with her, but I want her to be happy even more, so I planned the trip before planning to have a child.
Hopefully, the baby will arrive during this joyful journey.
