When Gu Yueji and Xiao Yao entered the private room, there were already many classmates sitting inside. Seeing their beautiful outfits, everyone started to cheer them on.
Wow, who are these two?
"Oh, beautiful!"
"You two have managed to organize the class reunion."
"Who are you two trying to drag down with all this fuss?!"
Xiao Yao, somewhat smug, bowed to each person who praised her, saying, "Thank you everyone! Thank you for your compliments and likes!"
Gu Yueji was a little at a loss and could only applaud Xiao Yao from the side.
"You two, stop embarrassing yourselves and come over here right now." A clear voice rang out from the crowd.
Gu Yueji and Xiao Yao looked closely, then smiled at each other.
When Dong Ruicheng said there was someone they would be happy to meet, that was the first person they thought of.
I knew they wouldn't be wrong.
The two of them sat down on either side of Situ Ying.
When did you return to China?
Why didn't you tell us you were coming back?
Situ Ying looked at the two of them from left to right. "Can you two sit down? It's tiring for me to talk like this."
Gu Yueji pinched her face from her chin upwards, turning her face towards him. "Answer me first, when did you get back?"
Situ Ying was choked and couldn't speak clearly, "My mother-in-law."
Then Xiao Yao slapped Situ Ying on the head and turned her head toward herself, "Why didn't you tell us you were coming back?"
Although Situ Ying was speechless at the two of them, she still obediently replied, "I wanted to give you a surprise."
Just as Gu Yueji was preparing for the next round, Situ Ying glanced at them and said, "Have you two had enough fun? You know my patience is limited."
The three of them stared at each other silently for two seconds, then happily hugged each other.
If we're talking about close relationships, Gu Yueji only acknowledges Xiao Yao and Situ Ying in the entire class.
Situ Ying is a generous and righteous person. She used to be the class monitor, and it was Situ Ying who helped Gu Yueji with her student loan when she entered university. Because she knew about Gu Yueji's family situation, Situ Ying always took special care of her. She would notify Gu Yueji to apply for scholarships and grants as soon as they were available at school, but she would never look at Gu Yueji with pity. Several times when she went to the college office and saw Gu Yueji working part-time, she would jokingly ask Gu Yueji to take care of her and come to her for help.
Situ Ying's straightforward personality meant she and Xiao Yao were destined to get along, and the three of them naturally became good friends.
"How long will you be back this time?" Gu Yueji asked.
"I didn't stay long; the school gave me a week off, so I came back."
After graduating from university, Situ Ying went abroad to pursue a master's degree, and she has not yet graduated.
"Why are you still studying? Are you not going to graduate?" Xiao Yao asked with a smile.
Situ Ying glared at her, "Go to hell and stop cursing me. I'm graduating with my PhD next year."
The three were chatting happily when the door to the private room was suddenly pushed open forcefully.
"Ta-da! Look who's here!"
Su Ziran's sudden appearance startled everyone who was chatting, and the scene fell silent for a moment, with no one saying a word.
Wang Qian stood awkwardly for a while in the quiet atmosphere, and finally raised her hand to greet everyone, "It's been a long time, classmates."
The dazzling diamond ring on her hand brought everyone back to their senses, and someone immediately greeted her warmly.
"Wang Qian, come and sit down. Weren't you on vacation in Australia? Why are you back so soon?"
"It'll be faster to come back on our own plane," said Wang Qian, whose husband is from Taiwan, adding a touch of Taiwanese accent to her speech.
"What kind of idyllic life are you living? I've seen your WeChat Moments where you often go on vacation to different countries. Turns out you even travel on your own plane! Your husband must be incredibly rich."
"No, it's just not the best, but it's not the worst either."
Xiao Yao shuddered at Wang Qian's mixed accent. "Money really can make the devil turn the millstone," she thought.
Unexpectedly, Gu Yueji said, "Buy me that pigeon egg, and I'll change however you want."
Xiao Yao and Situ Ying were immediately amused. "Get lost, how come you're still so realistic?"
This person has the same attitude as when she bribed him with 1,000 yuan back then.
"Isn't it better to be realistic? Look how well other people are living."
Situ Ying smiled meaningfully, "I don't know if she's doing well or not, but as far as I know, she has already given birth to three daughters and is now preparing to have twin sons through IVF."
Gu Yueji was shocked. She didn't have Wang Qian's WeChat or had never heard anyone mention her, so she didn't know anything about her recent situation. She didn't expect that Wang Qian had already given birth to three children.
Xiao Yao was also surprised, "She doesn't need to work so hard to have a son, does she? She's only been out of school for five years and has already had three children, and now she's having twins. How will her belly recover?"
Situ Ying said sarcastically in a low voice, "Can she not work hard? There are plenty of women out there who want to give her husband a son. If one of them gives birth to a son before her, how long do you think she can stay in that wealthy family?"
Xiao Yao looked at Situ Ying incredulously, "Is the pressure on wealthy wives really that great?"
"Or do you think only working people have it tough? KPIs exist everywhere, okay?"
Xiao Yao quietly gave Situ Ying a thumbs up.
Gu Yueji looked at Wang Qian from afar, feeling quite emotional.
Actually, she and Wang Qian had a pretty good relationship in college. After all, they had similar family backgrounds, shared a dormitory, and worked part-time together, so they could understand each other's difficult situation.
However, when it came to Wang Qian graduating and getting married, she didn't stand by her side to offer comfort or support. From then on, Wang Qian inexplicably resented her, deleted her WeChat, and even said some hurtful things to her when she moved out of the dormitory.
