Just as Ren Jin was wondering what was going on, a loud voice came from behind the door as it was pushed open, "Sorry we're late."
Ren Yamei's fair and round face was beaming with smiles. Before she even reached Ren Yajuan, she loudly explained, "Yajuan, I'm so sorry I'm late. It's all your brother-in-law's fault for taking so long to park the car."
Seeing Ren Yamei walk over, Gu Yueji, who was sitting next to Ren Yajuan, quickly stood up.
Ren Yamei was tall and sturdy, almost taller than Gu Yueji in high heels. Standing next to the thin and frail Ren Yajuan, they didn't look like sisters at all. She held Ren Yajuan's hand and said, "Juan, I'm sorry. You don't know that our family just bought an Audi. Your brother-in-law isn't used to driving it. He couldn't park it properly for a long time. We had to wait for Hongyi to come over because he's always driven an Audi. He's familiar with it and can park it right away."
Ren Jin and Qian Mingjun exchanged a smile. The boastful tone was still the same familiar formula and flavor.
"It's nothing, you even went to the trouble of celebrating my birthday." Ren Yajuan was still happy to see her friends.
Ren Yamei pulled Ren Yajuan to sit down, saying, "Our 50th birthday is a big one, we should celebrate it properly."
Ren Yajuan was wearing a dark purple coat and simple clothes. The gold bracelet on her wrist was particularly eye-catching. Ren Yamei noticed it as soon as she got closer. "This bracelet is really beautiful. It must be a birthday present for today."

Ren Jin glanced at the gold jewelry on Ren Yamei's body and jokingly replied, "Auntie, you've already covered your neck, wrists, fingers, and ears with jewelry. If you wear another gold bracelet, Uncle might get investigated."
Ren Yamei's smile froze for a moment before she managed to maintain it. "Your uncle is almost retired, what's the point of investigating this little bit of gold? But being a civil servant is not as lucrative as doing business. I heard from your dad that you can earn millions from a single project now. I told your dad when you were little that you're going to be something special."
Ren Jin didn't know about Ren Yamei's other skills, but she had a silver tongue. She could belittle you to the ground or praise you to the heavens, and she could switch between sweetness and daggers at will without batting an eye.
Ren Jin, however, did not want to play along with her act. "Really? I seem to remember my aunt saying that I never studied hard when I was young and that I would never amount to anything in the future."
