Ren Jin frowned. "When did this happen?"
"Monday, I guess."
"Monday? It's been three days, why didn't you tell me?"
“The calls weren’t this frequent the past two days. Today I called Ye Zurong to ask him to handle the matter properly, but his wife answered, and that’s how it turned out.”
Ren Jin's face was cold. "So why didn't you tell me?"
Seeing that he was about to get angry, Gu Yueji quickly took the initiative to hug him, "Aren't you busy with the construction site lately? You went out for a social event and got drunk last night. I don't want to bother you with this. I can handle it myself."
He pinched her cheek and said sarcastically, "You think you can handle everything so I can't find my wife?"
He didn't use force. Gu Yueji rested her chin on his chest coquettishly, looked up at him, and asked, "Do you think it would be useful for me to call the police?"
She shed her usual composure, revealing a charming and endearing appearance. Ren Jin immediately lost his temper, and his tone softened, "Instead of waiting for the police to handle it for you, you might as well just change your number."
"I've thought about changing my number, but my phone is linked to too many things, so changing it would be too much of a hassle."
Ren Jin thought for a moment, then switched his phone to airplane mode and asked her, "Has his wife ever called you using her own phone?"
"Yes, I've blocked him."
He handed her the phone and said, "Find that number for me."
Gu Yueji quickly found the blacklist in her contacts, which contained only one number.
Ren Jin glanced at the number, picked up his phone, and started making the call.
Gu Yueji checked the time; it was time to start cooking dinner. She got up and went to the kitchen.
They had developed a tacit understanding at some point: when it came to family matters, he would either let her handle them, or if he wanted to take over, she wouldn't have to worry about them anymore.
He came in just as the rice was being washed and put in the pot, hugged her from behind, and watched her prepare the vegetables in the sink. "I want to eat spicy food tonight."
Gu Yueji was picking vegetables when she glanced at him and said, "You just threw up after drinking last night, so how about we eat something light today?"
He didn't resist at all. "Fine, but to make it up to me, you have to dress a little hot tonight." As he spoke, his hands started to grope her body.
Gu Yueji laughed, turned around, and threw the groceries at him. "Do you still want to eat?"
"I don't mind eating you first." He hugged her and lowered his head to kiss her, but Gu Yueji turned her head away. She then leaned in and kissed him, but then dodged away again.
He held her close and played with her; if she tried to avoid him, he would kiss her, and if she kissed him, he would try to avoid her.
The two played like this for a while, finally ending with Ren Jin pressing her head down and giving her a tender kiss.
"I'm hungry, can we eat first?" Gu Yueji hugged him and kissed him again.
Didn't you eat lunch?
"I was a bit annoyed, so I just ate something quick."
Ren Jin patted her buttocks warningly, "Get off me, I'll handle it."
Gu Yueji stayed in the kitchen with him, mainly responsible for tasting the flavors and adding salt or something.
After they finished eating, washed the dishes, and sat in the living room watching TV, Ren Jin returned the phone to her. Gu Yueji looked at it and found that the phone was working properly and no more harassing calls came in.

“I used to do this too.”

"They bombarded me with phone calls, demanding I pay back the money."
"You also had someone bombard her with phone calls?"
"It's not that simple. If she wants to play, we should play bigger games with her. Otherwise, she'll think she's the only one who knows how to play, and that won't do."
The harassing calls stopped, but Ye Zurong's calls started coming incessantly. Ren Jin told Gu Yueji not to answer them; she had been harassed for so many days, and they shouldn't expect peace so soon.
It wasn't until he sent an apology text message, hoping the two sides could reconcile in person, that Ren Jin had Gu Yueji reply and agree to meet.
Ren Jin accompanied Gu Yueji to the meeting.
This was Ren Jin's first time meeting Ye Zurong. His first impression of Gu Yueji was that she was a skinny man who looked like a boiled chicken, and the woman sitting next to him looked like a lump of dough that had risen, and she looked like she could crush him.
As soon as Ren Jin and Gu Yueji sat down, the woman started speaking sarcastically, "I thought you wouldn't dare to come today."
Ren Jin raised an eyebrow and swept his sharp gaze over him, "Haven't you answered enough calls?"
Liu Xiaoxiao scoffed, "Your wife is still entangled with her ex-boyfriend and you're still glaring at me here? Don't you have a brain?"
"Who's still entangled with him?!" Gu Yueji was anxious to explain, afraid that Ren Jin would misunderstand. But he held her hand and patted it reassuringly, expressing his trust.
Ren Jin was too lazy to pay attention to this woman anymore, and turned to ask Ye Zurong, "Can you make decisions about your family matters?"
Before Ye Zurong could answer, Liu Xiaoxiao interrupted, "Why should he make decisions about our family matters?"
Ren Jin didn't even glance at Liu Xiaoxiao, but stared straight at Ye Zurong with a nakedly contemptuous look. "She doesn't know the right or wrong of this matter, but you do. I'll just ask you one question: can you make decisions about your family's affairs?"
Liu Xiaoxiao pointed at Ye Zurong in front of them and said loudly, "Ye Zurong, I'm warning you, you better get that 100,000 yuan back right now, or I'll never forgive you. Where did you get the money? You're just a good-for-nothing. All your money comes from my dad."
Gu Yueji was surprised. Although she could tell from the phone call that Ye Zurong's wife was a strong and shrewish woman, she did not know that his wife treated him this way.
Ye Zurong clenched his fingers tightly, meeting Ren Jin's contemptuous smile and Gu Yueji's surprised gaze. He wanted to tell him firmly that he could, but Liu Xiaoxiao kept shouting at him from the side, reminding him that he couldn't, he could never.
Ren Jin smiled and said, "Okay, I understand."
He threw the IOU in front of him, saying, "Consider this money as money burned for you."
Ye Zurong blushed, but Liu Xiaoxiao started cursing first, "What did you say! How dare you talk to me like that? Do you believe I'll make you suffer? You lowly pigs, you cling to every penny you see. Look at the wife you found, she's been used and ruined but you still cling to her. You're no good either."
"If you dare say another word, believe me, I'll make you regret it, you damn public bus!"
"What?!"
Ren Jin tore open the large envelope in his hand and threw the stack of papers inside in front of them. "Fighting and injuring people, drug use, three abortions—who is the woman who has been used and ruined? Does your husband know about this? Do your in-laws know about this?"
The air seemed to freeze for a moment, and both Ye Zurong and Liu Xiaoxiao were stunned.
Liu Xiaoxiao picked up the papers, glanced at them, and then tore them all to shreds like a madwoman. Her face contorted with rage, she was about to jump up and hit Ren Jin when she shouted, "How did you find out all this? I'm going to sue you! You've invaded my privacy! You think this will scare me?
