Chapter 34 You dare to return the wedding ring?

Gu Yueji hadn't thought of that, but Ren Jin nodded, "I'll buy it for her, Auntie, don't worry."

Gu Yueji discovered that Ren Jin was quite obedient to his aunt. He was usually a very unruly person, but tonight he didn't say a single word of dissent.

Because it was still a long way to get home, they didn't stay long after dinner and headed back. Before leaving, Ren Yajuan gave her two red envelopes, saying that one was for meeting the parents and the other was for the New Year. Both red envelopes were quite substantial. Gu Yueji looked at Ren Jin helplessly as she held them.

Ren Jin smiled and nodded, saying that his aunt was closer to him than his mother, and that he should accept the gift as a red envelope from his parents.

Gu Yueji hugged Ren Yajuan, thanked her, and then accepted the red envelope.

Sitting in the car, Gu Yueji looked at the red envelope in her hand. She didn't remember ever receiving a New Year's red envelope from her parents. She carefully stroked the bright red envelope, then looked at her bare fingers. Thinking about what Ren Jin had said about buying a ring, she felt that he might have just said it to appease her aunt. Since she didn't usually wear jewelry, she said, "We don't need to buy a ring."

Ren Jin was taken aback. "Why?"

Gu Yueji said calmly, "It's okay not to wear it."

Ren Jin gripped the steering wheel, glancing at her briefly. "Why aren't you wearing it? Trying to pretend you're single and flirt with other men?"

Gu Yueji originally wanted to talk to him nicely, but now she couldn't help but retort, "Even if your aunt had mentioned it, you still wouldn't have thought about buying it. There's no need to force you to buy it."

Ren Jin scoffed, "I've already reluctantly married her, so it's nothing to reluctantly buy her a ring."

Gu Yueji was so angry that she pinched his arm, but it was hard and she couldn't twist it. "It's the New Year, don't make me argue with you!"

Ren Jin laughed when he saw her puffed-up face.

Gu Yueji was furious all the way home. She went in first and deliberately closed the door, but Ren Jin blocked her way.

Ren Jin was in a good mood and couldn't stop laughing. After closing the door, he watched her lower her head to change her shoes and turn to walk into the house. He bent down, hugged her knees, and picked her up in one go.

Gu Yueji screamed in fright, grabbing his broad shoulders and looking down at him, "What are you doing?"

Ren Jin carried the person to sit on the shoe cabinet, while Gu Yueji maintained an angle looking down at him.

He looked up at her and said, "What are you angry about? I left the ring here for so many days and you just didn't see it. Who are you blaming?"

Gu Yueji was stunned. He reached into a ceramic bowl on the shoe cabinet that contained keys and other small items and pulled something out.

When he opened his palm in front of her, revealing a red jewelry box, Gu Yueji was even more incredulous, feeling as if he were performing magic. "When did you put this here?"

"I've left it here for two days now, thinking I'd surprise you when you found it, but you haven't even come to look at it. You can't blame me for that." As he spoke, he opened the jewelry box. Inside wasn't just one ring, but three: two plain rings, one large and one small, and a diamond ring.

Ren Jin first took out a small, plain ring, held her left hand, and slowly slipped it onto her ring finger. "These are the wedding rings we usually wear." Then he took out the diamond ring. "This is our wedding ring." After putting it on, he admired it for a moment before looking up and asking her...

"Mrs. Ren, do you like it?"

Gu Yueji slowly raised her hand, gazing at the ring on her finger. The simple, elegant platinum ring made her fingers appear long and slender. The diamond in the ring must have been one carat, sparkling brilliantly and radiating a rainbow of colors.

Ren Jin saw Gu Yueji staring intently at the ring and thought she must like it. However, she looked up and pointed at the diamond ring, saying, "Can this be returned?"

Ren Jin frowned, looking at her with disbelief. "What are you thinking? You dare to return the wedding ring?"

Gu Yueji stroked the ring tenderly. It was beautiful and she liked it very much, but the price made her wince. "I rarely wear jewelry, so buying it would be a waste. We'll just buy a pair of wedding rings."

Ren Jin gritted his teeth, too lazy to pay attention to her, picked her up from the shoe cabinet, and carried her directly to the room.

Gu Yueji saw through his intention. "Wait a minute, you promised to eat dumplings with me."

Ren Jin kept walking, saying, "Let's exercise first to burn some calories, then I'll cook dumplings for you later."
