Chapter 100 As If It Were Yesterday

Jiang Jiaojiao was slightly taken aback, and just as she was hesitating about how to speak, the housekeeper came out.

"Please come in, Miss."

Jiang Shuyue looked indifferently, not even glancing at Jiang Jiaojiao, and walked straight into the Minister's Mansion towards the ancestral hall.

Qiuju quickly followed, lowering her voice to say, "Miss, the carriage that was following the Second Miss's carriage just now belongs to the Prime Minister's residence."

"We'll talk about this when we get back. We're here today to retrieve Mother's memorial tablet." Jiang Shuyue continued walking without stopping. Seeing this, the steward quickly instructed a servant to inform his master.

Afraid that her father would see her frivolous attire, Jiang Jiaojiao ran all the way to her own courtyard as soon as she entered the mansion.

Just then, Jiang Zhengming finished his lunch and was about to take a nap when a servant came to report that the young lady had returned.

Madam Yang urged, "Husband, go quickly. Don't be angry. Talk it out. Yue'er is a sensible child. She will understand your good intentions."

Jiang Zhengming took the cold water cloth handed to him by Yang and wiped his face haphazardly, which made him feel much more refreshed.

He stuffed the handkerchief back into Yang's hand and said to her, "Come with me. That wretched girl can be infuriating. If I lose my temper, you'll have to smooth things over."

"Don't worry, my husband. I understand. As long as Miss agrees to the marriage with the Wu family, everything will be fine."

As she spoke, Madam Yang gave Granny Qu a wink.

Granny Qu understood, lowered her head, and withdrew.

Today, Granny Qu was supposed to go to Qinglian Temple, but Jiang Jiaojiao didn't even come to inform her. She left the mansion early in the morning with Caiyan.

Ms. Yang was worried that Jiang Jiaojiao might do something outrageous in her haste, and she was restless all morning.

She needed to find out as soon as possible whether her daughter was destined to be with the Third Young Master Wei. If she could marry into the Wei family, it would be good if Jiang Zhengming and Jiang Shuyue had a falling out, so that she wouldn't have to give up a dowry for nothing.

When Jiang Shuyue returned, the entire Shangshu Mansion was on high alert. The steward followed her to the ancestral hall with a smile on his face, while constantly looking back to see if the master had arrived.

Stepping into the ancestral hall, the past events are vividly recalled, as if they happened yesterday.

The memorial tablet of the mother, née Su, is located on one side below the ancestral tablets of the Jiang family.

The family rules were still displayed in their original place, and the air seemed to still carry the lingering smell of blood.

Jiang Shuyue silently prayed in her heart, "Madam Su, I've come to take you away from this filthy place on behalf of your daughter."

Jiang Shuyue kowtowed to the memorial tablet of Madam Su and reached out to take it.

The butler quickly stepped forward and advised, "Miss, you mustn't. This is a very important matter. Let's wait for Master to arrive and discuss it properly before taking it."

Qiuju rebuked, "Madam is my young lady's mother. Why should she discuss this with someone she has no relation to! Don't forget, my young lady has no connection with the Jiang family anymore."

Gao Mu didn't say a word, but reached out and grabbed the butler by the back of his collar, lifting him up and leading him out of the ancestral hall.

In Gao Mu's hands, the housekeeper was like a chick caught by an eagle.

He flailed his arms and legs in the air, shouting, "Young Miss, think it over carefully! This servant is doing all this for your own good!"

"Ouch! Ouch!"

Gao Mu let go, and the butler fell flat on his face with a "thud".

"What are you doing?" Jiang Zhengming glared at Gao Mu and strode into the ancestral hall.

Seeing that Jiang Zhengming was somewhat annoyed, Madam Yang said with a smile, "Yue'er, you're back, why don't you come to your mother's room for a sit?"

Before Granny Qu could reply, she still had to cooperate with Jiang Zhengming to appease the person.

Pretending to be gentle and virtuous is her forte.

Jiang Shuyue couldn't be bothered to pay any attention to Yang's feigned affection.

She took the memorial tablet, wrapped it in cloth, and said without turning her head, "Lord Jiang is so forgetful. I told you in advance that I would come back to retrieve my mother's memorial tablet."

"No! I won't agree. Su is my lawfully wedded wife. She was born into the Jiang family and will die in the Jiang family. You can't do this."

"Moon, let me apologize to you. I was wrong. I shouldn't have asked the family to punish you after you were bullied, and I shouldn't have sent you to the estate."

Jiang Zhengming's tone shifted from harsh to soft and pleading in the blink of an eye.

Jiang Shuyue was not the original owner of this body. She looked at Jiang Zhengming and said calmly, "Lord Jiang, why are you doing this? All my mother left behind was a memorial tablet. Her soul left the Jiang family long ago."

She glanced at Madam Yang. "Don't you already have a legal wife? It's more suitable to leave the ghost-making to her, don't you think, Madam?"

Yang: "..."

Yang was so angry that she felt like she was about to vomit blood, but she had to suppress it with a smile.

Jiang Shuyue hugged the wrapped memorial tablet to her arms and walked towards the door.

Jiang Zhengming quickly blocked her way, "Yue'er, I beg you, come back! I've already arranged a good marriage for you as compensation for all the suffering you've endured over the years."

Jiang Shuyue paused slightly.

So that's where they were waiting for her. No wonder they begged her to come back to the manor so many times.

She wanted to hear what kind of family her cheap father had arranged for her.

Jiang Shuyue's lips curled into a sneer. "Oh! I see. May I ask, Lord Jiang, what kind of family do they come from?"

Upon hearing this, Yang thought that Jiang Shuyue had changed her mind.

"Moon, your father is reluctant to marry you down. He is the son of Wu Taiwei, who works in the Ministry of War. He is a talented young man, skilled in both literature and martial arts."

"Tsk tsk tsk, what a good marriage! How did it end up on someone who's been expelled from the family register?" Jiang Shuyue looked at Qiu Ju, her tone as if she were talking about someone else.

"Miss, I think I heard that Miss Jiang has also been betrothed to the son of Grand Commandant Wu. Could it be that Miss Jiang has betrothed you to the second legitimate son of the Wu family, and Miss Jiang has betrothed to the illegitimate son of the Wu family?" Qiu Ju asked knowingly.
