Hearing a soft thud behind her, Jiang Shuyue turned around and saw Gao Mu and Cang Yun bowing to each other.
"Miss, the young master's men and the Imperial Guards have already started fighting."
Approximately how many people are in the Embroidered Uniform Guard?
Jiang Shuyue's heart tightened.
The Imperial Guards under the Emperor's command were formally trained and selected from among many soldiers, while most of the men brought by Xiao Jingzhao were former refugees.
Simply put, when an amateur team faces a professional team in a head-to-head battle, the odds of victory are still uncertain.
"I have learned that there are not many Imperial Guards in the palace, only about a thousand."
Before Jiang Shuyue could even relax, Gao Mu added, "There are still over 20,000 people in the western suburban camp, but we don't know how many of them are Jinyiwei (Imperial Guards)."
"Two, more than twenty thousand people?"
Jiang Shuyue gasped.
"Miss, are you worried about the young master?" Cang Yun asked with a smile when he saw Jiang Shuyue's wide-eyed, incredulous expression.
"Why would I worry about him? I feel sorry for those unarmed people who lost their lives in vain." Jiang Shuyue said casually, but her heart was actually clenched.
He's her son's father; she can't afford to lose. Only with him protecting her son can she finally put her mind at ease.
She couldn't just sit and wait to die; she had to do something.
Gao Mu glared at Cang Yun, "Don't talk nonsense. The young master never does anything unprepared. The people who fought against the Imperial Guards just now were all highly skilled soldiers. The young master's men far outnumber those in the western suburban camp. The young master will surely win."
He then said to Jiang Shuyue, "All the soldiers have weapons; they are not unarmed."
Jiang Shuyue pondered for a moment. At this time, all the civil and military officials were at home, and there were probably very few people who could go to the palace to provide support.
"You're coming out with me."
"Miss, please don't! Swords have no eyes. The young master deliberately sent the common people away in advance to protect everyone. What if you get hurt if you go?" Cangyun's expression changed drastically, and he quickly stopped her.
“Cangyun is right. The two sides are currently engaged in fierce fighting. Miss is waiting for the young master’s good news in the manor. I will go and find out the situation again.” Gao Mu said, making a move to leap onto the wall again.
Jiang Shuyue grabbed his arm. "Don't go to the palace gate. Take me to the residence of Minister Du of the Court of Judicial Review."
"What does Miss want with the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review? They are all the Emperor's henchmen."
"At this time, civil and military officials dare not approach the palace. The court ministers will definitely gather together to think of countermeasures and analyze the situation."
“Miss’s analysis makes sense, but even if you go, those people may not listen to your good advice.” Gao Mu was also uneasy.
"Give it a try; it's better than doing nothing."
“Miss, please don’t leave the manor. Gao Mu and I can go and support the young master.” Cang Yun knew perfectly well that although the young master had given him and Gao Mu to the young lady, if anything happened to the young lady and the young master, the young master would hold them responsible.
"In the face of a massive army, the two of you going to provide support would be like a drop in the ocean. Stop arguing and come with me to the Du residence." Jiang Shuyue interrupted Cang Yun and strode towards the side gate.
The Du residence wasn't far from the Jiang residence. After exiting the side gate, the three of them deliberately chose to walk through the alleys.
There wasn't a soul in sight on the streets and alleys, and faint sounds of fighting could be heard from the east.
Occasionally, as I passed by a house, I could hear a child crying inside.
Upon arriving at the Du residence, Gao Mu stepped forward and knocked on the door.
"who?"
A question came from inside the gate, posed by the gatekeeper.
"It's me, Jiang Shuyue. Has Miss Du retired for the night?"
"Oh! I know, the female doctor from Jishetang." The doorman said, opening a side door.
"Please come in, Miss Jiang. The Second Miss just strolled around the hall and has already returned to the backyard."
The three entered the door, and the doorman nervously glanced outside before hurriedly closing the door again.
"There must be quite a few people at the manor tonight, right?"
"How did you know, young lady?" The servant belatedly realized he had said the wrong thing after he finished speaking.
He quickly added, "Those who came are all members of the Du family. They heard that the palace has been surrounded by the Prince of Yannan's men, so they came to the manor to bolster their courage."
“The sounds of battle are deafening even from a great distance, it’s quite frightening. That’s why I’ve come to seek refuge with Miss Du.” Jiang Shuyue had barely finished speaking when there was another knock on the door.
A maidservant stepped forward and led Jiang Shuyue to see Miss Du.
Hearing the knock on the door, Jiang Shuyue deliberately slowed her pace.
The door opened again, and Jiang Shuyue's eyes lit up.
"A true young master!"
"Miss Jiang!"
Seeing Zhen Jingxiu's questioning gaze, Jiang Shuyue smiled faintly, "I came to see Miss Du."
Zhen Jingxiu nodded slightly. He couldn't very well say that Lord Du had invited his grandfather to the mansion to discuss the current situation, and his grandfather couldn't refuse, so he just sent him over to make an appearance.
The servant led Gao Mu, Cang Yun, and Zhen Jingxiu's page to a side hall.
The two walked towards the hanging flower gate without prior arrangement.
Inside the hanging flower gate is a covered walkway. If you want to see Du Yutong, you have to go to the backyard by following the right side of the walkway.
A servant led Zhen Jingxiu toward the left-hand veranda.
"Young Master, please wait."
"Is there anything else you need, Miss Jiang?"
“I come from Yannan. If there is anything you want to know, I will answer it to the best of my knowledge.”
Zhen Jingxiu understood and cupped his hands, saying, "I understand."
Jiang Shuyue returned the greeting gracefully and then turned to follow the maid to the backyard.
She was certain that most of those officials had never left the capital, and that their discussions were merely theoretical; they would surely send someone to invite her over soon.
