Jiang Shuyue smiled faintly, "Your Majesty flatters me. Sui Sui has always been a sensible child."
"Does he like playing Cuju (ancient Chinese football)?"
"The child is still young; perhaps he will like it when he's older," Jiang Shuyue said tactfully and truthfully.
Xiao Jingzhao was a little surprised. He had loved Cuju (ancient Chinese football) since he was a child. Even before he knew how to play, he would watch the soldiers in the military camp play Cuju with great interest.
Jiang Shuyue frowned slightly and said slowly, "I don't know who this child took after, but he has a special fondness for food, which makes the cooks in the manor not know how to cook properly."
After Jiang Shuyue finished speaking, she looked up at Xiao Jingzhao.
Without a second thought, Xiao Jingzhao chimed in, “That’s easy. Just have Xiangyang select two chefs from the Imperial Kitchen to take back with him. When he enters the Imperial Academy, the Imperial Kitchen can deliver his meals every day.”
"It's not that the cooks aren't good at cooking, it's that they can't buy the ingredients the children want to eat."
Upon hearing that this was no big deal, Xiao Jingzhao waved his hand and said, "Leave this to Xiangyang. For ingredients that are not available in the capital, we can ask the caravans to buy them."
"Whatever the young master likes, I will write it down immediately." Xiang Yang said as he went to get the wolf hair brush from the brush holder.
Jiang Shuyue successfully steered the conversation away from the topic, then turned and sat down on a carved nanmu chair not far away.
"Don't remember too much, just remember what you can eat in the next half month. If it's really too late, it's okay to wait another half month."
Jiang Shuyue spoke casually.
Xiang Yang confidently declared, "Don't worry, young lady. Even if the young master wants to eat prawns, several caravans will arrive in the capital every ten days or so."
Xiao Jingzhao probably felt that Xiang Yang's handwriting was not good, so he laid out a sheet of white paper, took the wolf-hair brush, and dipped it in ink.
Seeing that he was ready, Jiang Shuyue slowly said, "Green beans, bell peppers, tomatoes..."
"Wait, are you sure these are vegetables for this season?" Xiao Jingzhao paused, leaving only a blot of ink on the white paper. He looked up at Jiang Shuyue.
He thought to himself:
This woman exuded an ethereal, otherworldly aura; she probably really didn't know what kinds of vegetables were available at the market this season.
Jiang Shuyue's butterfly-like eyelashes trembled slightly. "What I just mentioned are all the vegetables that Sui Sui likes to eat. It would be best if we could buy them from the guards."
Xiangyang: "..." I might as well just get struck by lightning and die.
"The farmers can't grow these vegetables this season, so let's choose something else."
"For example, there are cabbage, potatoes, and radishes," Xiao Jingzhao suggested.
"There are too few vegetables after the end of autumn, and we get tired of eating them every year. So, I went to the outskirts of the city and picked all the wild fruits from Yan Hui Mountain to offer to you."
Xiao Jingzhao: "..." His son is indeed filial.
"Throughout history, vegetables have become scarce in the north every late autumn; there's nothing we can do about it."
Jiang Shuyue smiled faintly and said, "Who said there's no way? It's just that no one is doing it."
Xiao Jingzhao looked puzzled. "You have a way?"
Jiang Shuyue nodded slightly, her bright smile exuding composure and confidence, making Xiao Jingzhao forget to look away.
Jiang Shuyue then explained the principles of greenhouse vegetables.
Xiao Jingzhao immediately understood that the palace had greenhouses for growing flowers.
"However, there is one material that I do not have, but Your Majesty should have it."
"Just tell me, and I'll find it for you as long as it's in Wanling Kingdom." This time, Xiao Jingzhao didn't dare to boast.
If Wanling Kingdom doesn't have something, then he might not be able to find it.
Seeing that Xiao Jingzhao was interested in this matter, Jiang Shuyue didn't stand on ceremony and said directly, "I bought a manor at the foot of Yan Hui Mountain and am preparing to build a greenhouse. I need glazed tile for the roof."
"Liuli Hu!" Xiang Yang stumbled, his voice cracking slightly.
Xiao Jingzhao shot him a glare, and Xiang Yang swallowed hard and quickly shut his mouth.
The girl is truly detached from worldly affairs. The production of that glass paste is extremely limited, practically something that cannot be bought even with silver. Yet the girl uses it to build a shed for growing vegetables, which is a terrible waste.
"Once the vegetables are grown in the greenhouse, I will send someone to deliver a portion to the palace." Jiang Shuyue didn't know the exact value of the glass paste, but she didn't want to take advantage of Xiao Jingzhao for nothing.
“No problem, I’ll have someone send it to you whenever you need it.” Xiao Jingzhao’s eyes were filled with a smile.
He then instructed Xiangyang: "Take men to the official kiln and take as much as you can. If it's not enough, take everything that's in use in the palace."
Xiang Yang, with drooping eyelids, cupped his hands and said, "Your subordinate obeys."
One moment Xiangyang saw the girl as a virtuous and gentle woman, the next she looked like a spendthrift.
Having received Xiao Jingzhao's promise, Jiang Shuyue stood up and said, "I will go to the Imperial Hospital now and submit the list to the Emperor before dark."
Then he looked up at Xiangyang and said, "Gao Mu is familiar with you. Once you've found the glass paste, just go to the Jiang residence and contact him."
Watching Jiang Shuyue's figure disappear into the distance, Xiao Jingzhao opened the box, inside which lay several fruits the size of a child's fist.
"Your Majesty, the glass paste that Miss Jiang needs is of utmost importance. I will go to the official kiln to take a look right away."
Xiangyang glanced at the fruit that looked so sour that it made his mouth water, and then he was about to slip away.
Xiao Jingzhao waved his hand: "Take more people with you, and don't break it."
Xiangyang ran out as if fleeing, knocking over Eunuch Ma who was coming in.
"I'm sorry, Deputy Commander Xiang, it was my fault for not watching where I was going." Even though he was in pain, Eunuch Ma still apologized to Xiang Yang.
Xiangyang grabbed Eunuch Ma's collar and pulled hard, and the person lying on the ground immediately stood up.
He gently patted Eunuch Ma's shoulder and said, "Eunuch Ma, don't be so polite. Just don't walk so fast in the future." Then he turned and left.
Eunuch Ma: "..."
