Sui Sui cursed the national treasure in her heart, and patiently said, "Uncle, you just said that this is the middle of the lake, and I will drown if I jump in."
He moved his legs again and said, "Our hands and feet are tied up. Even if you untie us, I won't jump."
The masked man glared at Sui Sui, slammed the teapot down on the ground, walked to the window, and muttered, "Small girl, lots of trouble."
Just as Sui Sui and Chang Le were secretly delighted, they looked up and saw that the masked man's hand, which was pushing open the window, had stopped.
"No, you'll yell if we open the window."
"No, no, Uncle, trust me. If we shout even half a word, you can come up and throw us into the water." Sui Sui shook her little head like a rattle drum, her devout attitude making the masked man hesitate.
This child is so unusual; he didn't cry or make a fuss and was quite cooperative, showing no signs of being kidnapped.
"We're surrounded by water. Even if we shout ourselves hoarse, it's no use. It's such a simple thing, even a fool would know that." Chang Le rolled her eyes, practically calling the masked man an idiot.
The employer had instructed the leader to keep a close eye on the two children; he could scold them, but not hit them, and he absolutely could not allow them to get hurt.
Having spent many years in the underworld, this was the first time he felt that the people he had kidnapped were not hostages, but rather like two ancestors.
The man thought the two kids made sense. After hesitating for a moment, he only pushed the door open a crack and turned to them, saying, "If you two behave yourselves, you might be home before dawn. If you cause trouble, then don't expect to see the sun tomorrow."
His tone was full of threat, but these threats reassured Chang Le and Sui Sui.
The people who kidnapped them will release them, and it won't be long.
Sui Sui lowered her eyes slightly and glanced at her legs, wondering if the things in her pocket were still there.
My mother said that we should not rely on others, but take the initiative ourselves.
Seeing the two men's timid appearance, the man picked up the teapot and went outside.
As the footsteps faded into the distance, Chang Le said, "The door doesn't seem to be locked?"
"We won't run away even if it's not locked," Sui Sui said obediently, blinking her eyes.
Chang Le didn't understand what Sui Sui was up to. She whispered, "You can swim?"
Sui Sui shook her head, "Uncle Nangong hasn't had a chance to teach me yet."
Chang Le immediately deflated, "Then why are you making such a fuss? The window is only slightly open, what's the difference between opening it at all?"
"Auntie, turn around, you'll find out soon enough," Sui Sui said in a low voice.
Seeing a sliver of silvery moonlight streaming in through the crack in the window, creating the illusion of a band of light in the room, Chang Le suddenly realized, "You want to untie the ropes?"
Sui Sui nodded, "Auntie is so smart, she guessed it right away."
Although she couldn't escape now that she was free, at least her hands weren't so uncomfortable. Chang Le turned around very cooperatively, letting her wrists face the sliver of moonlight.
"Auntie, bend down and raise your hands a little higher, try to bring your hands together as much as possible."
Sui Sui had Chang Le adjust the angle and observe which knot the rope was tied in.
He had seen Nangong Zeyue teach Changsheng techniques such as unlocking locks and untying ropes.
Once Sui Sui had a clear idea of what to do, she started using her teeth to untie the rope. Perhaps the criminals thought the two of them were just children and that the knots weren't complicated to tie, so Sui Sui used her teeth to untie the rope little by little.
I don't know what that rope was used for; it smelled bad and had a slightly salty taste.
Sui Sui would bite for a while and then spit out her saliva.
Half an hour later, the rope binding Chang Le's hands was finally untied.
Chang Le's wrists were red from being tied up, and she didn't even have time to rub them before she untied Sui Sui.
With her hands finally relaxed, Sui Sui hurriedly reached into her pockets.
God bless!
His self-defense medicine kit is still there.
The two quickly untied the ropes around their ankles.
"Sui Sui, does it hurt? Just bear with it. That bad guy said we'll be back soon, but I don't know if it's true." Chang Le rubbed Sui Sui's wrists and ankles.
“You can’t trust bad people. Auntie, give me the rope.”
Chang Le shifted her legs, and Sui Sui checked the length of the rope.
Under Chang Le's astonished gaze, he tiptoed toward the wooden door.
The door was ajar. Sui Sui gently pushed it open, and with a creak, he quickly withdrew his hand.
Chang Le wasn't idle either; even if she couldn't go out, she could still look out the window.
She tiptoed to the window and, to avoid making a sound, slowly pushed it open.
Indeed, this place is in the middle of the lake. Under the moonlight, the water glistens, and looking into the distance, you can see several brightly lit painted boats moving slowly on the lake.
In the distance, as the night breeze blows, faint sounds of a zither can occasionally be heard.
"Sui Sui, is Lianwu Lake the largest lake in the capital?" Chang Le was unsure, as she had heard the old people in the palace mention Lianwu Lake.
"That's right, Lianwu Lake is very big. Tonight, some people are taking a pleasure boat tour on Lianwu Lake, and others are releasing lanterns by the lake."
Sui Sui heard all of this from the maids in the mansion. He hadn't planned to go boating on the lake, but who knew that he would be on a painted boat in this way tonight.
He went back to the window, but he couldn't reach it, so he went to the coffee table and brought over a few rattan cushions.
Several prayer cushions were stacked together, and standing on them, one could finally see the view outside the window.
Chang Le held Sui Sui in her arms to make him stand more steadily on the prayer mat.
Seeing that the pleasure boats in the distance showed no sign of heading towards the center of the lake, Chang Le said, "The criminals are too cunning; none of the other pleasure boats will come this way."
"Auntie, look, there are no lanterns on the lake. It's impossible for us to ask others for help." Sui Sui said, sticking her head out of the window to look down.
There were no lights on the lower level of the pleasure boat, and no one could be heard talking.
