The next day, under a clear blue sky, the scholars all returned to the academy.
The winter sun was not enough to melt the snow, so the headmaster of the Imperial Academy suggested that the students work together to clear the snow.
Chang Le was overjoyed when she found out, seeing it as another perfect opportunity to take advantage of the chaos. She pulled Jing'er and ran to the corridor.
"Jing'er, quickly go find me a broom, let's go next door to shovel snow."
“Princess, the teacher didn’t ask you to do any work, so you won’t be able to attend class for a while today. Let’s go back to Chang Le Palace for lunch and then come back to check on things.”
Chang Le pointed to the busy gentleman and steward in the distance, "Look, everyone's busy today, so if we sneak over next door, no one will notice."
Seeing Jing'er hesitate, Chang Le urged, "Go quickly, let's go and come back quickly, no one will know."
Jing'er looked troubled. "Princess, with these outfits, we'll be stopped by that gossipy scholar next door as we walk down the corridor."
Jing'er said this because there was a precedent for it.
The last time the two of them passed through the corridor, they were stopped by a scholar who looked about ten years old.
Fortunately, Jing'er was quick-witted and said that the master had asked them to come and pass on a message to the steward next door, and only then did the scholar let them leave.
Before leaving, the scholar said righteously, "Men and women are different. Women should respect themselves. Do not cross the corridor again, or you will be punished by the master."
If Chang Le hadn't stopped her in time, Jing'er would have loved to retort. Her mistress was a princess; who would dare punish them?
Chang Le kept a low profile at the academy. Since everyone had only recently entered the academy, apart from her classmates, no one else knew of her existence.
Chang Le looked around and raised her sleeve, waving it.
"Did you see that there are a lot of people wearing royal blue dresses today? Most of the scholars next door are also wearing lake blue and azure blue. As long as we avoid crowded places and go along the corridor, no one will notice us."
"Princess, please wait. I'll go find a broom to cover my tracks."
Chang Le easily fooled Jing'er with just a few words.
Chang Le watched Jing'er run away and happily spun around twice in place.
I haven't seen my precious nephew for two days, so I'm definitely going to take a good look at him today.
Footsteps sounded, and Jing'er quickly returned carrying a fluffy broom.
“Princess, what do you think of this? I couldn’t find any other tools, so I asked the young lady from the second branch of the Zhen family for the broom she was carrying. The young lady from the Zhen family just didn’t want to do any work, so this is a good opportunity for us.”
Jing'er raised her little face, her smugness evident.
With the banner of "princess" in hand, Miss Zhen would naturally be willing to give it to her.
Chang Le took the broom and shook it, praising with a grin, "Jing'er is so clever. This broom looks brand new, and the fluffiness is just right. You can also put it in front of you to block the view."
The master and servant carried brooms and swaggered into the corridor.
In the neighboring courtyard, the older scholars were busy shoveling snow, while the younger scholars were chasing each other and playing in the corridor.
Chang Le and Jing'er walked along the wall and heard laughter coming from afar. Jing'er said, "Princess, could it be that the young master is not in his bedroom?"
Chang Le waved his hand, "Don't worry about that, let's go to the dormitory first."
Everyone was busy with their own work, and no one noticed the two sneaky figures under the garden wall. The academy was filled with lush bamboo, and Chang Le and Jing Er easily found their way to the dormitory behind the academy.
"Sui Sui!"
Seeing that no one was around, Chang Le pushed open the half-closed door.
The room was empty, with a faint scent of roses lingering in the air.
Chang Le walked to Sui Sui's bedside and saw a stack of clothes next to the pillow. She bent down and sniffed them; the fragrance was coming from the clothes.
"This is the fragrance from Sister Jiang."
“Princess, the young master is still a child. He can only sleep soundly at night without his mother by his side, and only when he smells his mother can he sleep peacefully.” Jing’er lost her mother at a young age, so she understands this deeply.
Chang Le straightened up, seemingly lost in thought. "Huh! What kind of incense did Second Brother use?"
Jing'er thought for a moment and said, "His Majesty sent some ambergris to Prince Kang. I have never been close to His Majesty, so I don't know what kind of incense His Majesty likes to use the most."
"I remember now, it's Leng Zhuxiang. Jing'er, take this. After school, go find Leng Zhuxiang and have her scent this clothing so that Sui Sui will feel like her parents are with her when she sleeps."
Chang Le picked up the top piece of clothing and stuffed it into Jing'er's hand.
"Princess, is this...is this alright?"
“What’s wrong with that? A few days ago, Sui Sui stayed overnight in the palace, and didn’t Second Brother sleep with him? You can’t go wrong by listening to me.”
Seeing Jing'er standing there in a daze, Chang Le pulled her and walked outside.
Stepping outside, all was quiet; not even the chirping of birds could be heard.
Jing'er suggested, "Princess, let's come another day. Sui Sui must be playing in the front yard right now."
"Since we're already here, let's head forward," Chang Le said, and started walking.
When the master gets stubborn, not even eight horses can hold him back.
Jing'er hurriedly chased after them, "Master, there are teachers, stewards, academy managers, and even professors ahead. We're walking right into a trap."
"Don't panic, watch me." Chang Le slung the broom over her shoulder and strode towards the front yard.
Jing'er thought to herself, "Oh no, I'm going to get into trouble today."
She followed closely behind, her eyes constantly gazing ahead, hoping that her young master would suddenly appear.
Come on, chase me!
"Young master, don't run, be careful not to slip!"
Before anyone could be seen, Yaozu's shouts could be heard amidst the children playing ahead.
Chang Le was overjoyed and urged without turning her head: "Quick, did you hear that? There's a little tutor calling out ahead."
