Chapter 351 First Meeting with Partners

Meanwhile, Du Yutong returned to the shop and saw her aunt still tidying up spices in the backyard.

She pulled her aunt to wash her hands.

"Why are you in such a hurry, little girl? I'm only missing one spice to finish this." Du Wenru glared at Du Yutong with eyes full of affection.

"Auntie, Sister Yue'er will be bringing a distinguished guest over in a little while. You must go to the front and personally greet her. She is a very important customer."

Seeing that her niece looked serious, unlike her usual carefree self, she was surprised.

She pressed further, "But what about the restaurant's business?"

"No, I heard they're from the palace."

Du Yutong winked at her aunt, "That man is quite a high-ranking official, and I heard he's not married yet. Auntie, please have some snacks later."

Du Wenru blushed deeply after being teased by her niece.

"Are you asking me to go and discuss business, or to go and meet customers?"

Du Wenru raised her hand and tapped Du Yutong's forehead.

Du Yutong wiped her forehead with her sleeve and said coquettishly, "Auntie, I'm telling the truth. That person is really nice. He's tall, not too fat or too thin, and not much older than you."

“Aunt, if you like him, I will ask Sister Yue’er to act as matchmaker.”

She naturally believed her own niece's words. In the past, when matchmakers came to propose marriage, the men were either remarried or widowed.

Du Wenru asked doubtfully, "He holds a high official position and is quite old. How could he not have a family? You must have misheard."

With nothing to do, she would embroider and read storybooks to pass the time.

The poignant love story in the book rekindled her longing for a better life.

Seeing that her aunt had washed her hands as instructed, Du Yutong handed her a handkerchief and truthfully told her:

"To be honest, Aunt, he is the head of the Imperial Medical Academy, surnamed Lin, and also your partner. That rare agarwood was a gift from him."

"You, you little rascal, didn't you say that it was Miss Yue'er who invested?"

Du Yutong said with a smile, "Sister Yue'er respects the elderly and cares for the young, so she gave the profitable business to Dean Lin."

"Didn't you just say that person wasn't much older than me?"

Seeing her niece grinning, Du Wenru glared at Du Yutong with annoyance.

"Slip of the tongue, slip of the tongue, Dean Lin is still young."

Since things had come to this, Du Wenru couldn't say anything. Those agarwood pieces were extremely precious, and she used some to make incense, but she couldn't bear to sell all of the incense she made.

The aunt and niece whispered to each other for a while before heading forward.

Du Wenru walked ahead and arrived at the shop. She looked up and saw a man standing in front of the incense counter, intently looking at a box of sandalwood.

"Miss Moon has arrived, please come in."

Du Wenru walked past the man and saw Jiang Shuyue following behind.

"Aunt Du, it's been a long time. Today, Uncle Lin left the palace, so I specially brought him here to introduce him to the place."

Lin Miaoshou raised her head and saw a beautiful, gentle and dignified woman walking out from inside.

The woman's beautiful face was lightly made up, and her hair was styled in an unmarried updo, making it impossible to guess her real age.

This place only sells women's items, and a hint of unease flashed across Lin Miaoshou's face.

Jiang Shuyue introduced them to each other and they exchanged greetings.

Du Wenru also noticed that Lin Miaoshou's expression was unusual, and generously invited the two of them to a side room in the backyard for tea.

"I'm so sorry, I only found out today that my partner is the Dean."

Du Wenru didn't know what to say for a moment.

Lin Miao's hands, which were tucked into her sleeves, clenched into fists in nervousness.

The woman in front of him had once married into the Wei family, but later gracefully proposed a divorce. He had heard Jiang Shuyue mention this before.

I don't know why, but I feel inexplicably nervous.

Jiang Shuyue and Du Yutong exchanged a glance, and Du Yutong said, "The head of the academy must also know about incense making."

"I have a superficial understanding."

Lin Miaoshou answered very modestly.

Du Wenru smiled slightly, "You are too modest, Head of the Academy. Just based on the agarwood you have collected, it's not as simple as just having a superficial understanding."

Du Yutong seized the opportunity to make up a story, "My aunt was just worrying about adding ingredients to a fragrance. Would the head of the academy be willing to give her some pointers?"

The atmosphere was a little awkward during their first meeting.

Jiang Shuyue quickly said, "Uncle Lin knows a lot. Aunt Du, just ask Uncle Lin if you encounter any problems."

Du Wenru: "..."

Lin Miaoshou: "..."

The two looked at each other, then said in unison, "Please give me your guidance."

Jiang Shuyue stood up. "Uncle Lin, you help Aunt Du solve her problem first. I'll go see what Xu An and Qiu Ju bought."

"Sister Yue'er, wait a minute. I haven't had breakfast. I'll go to the street and buy two sesame seed cakes to fill my stomach."

The two of them slipped away like whirlwinds, one after the other.

Lin Miaoshou and Du Wenru were left bewildered in the wind.

Du Wenru's forehead throbbed. Even her niece's excuses were full of holes.

The daughter of a high-ranking official in the Court of Judicial Review, with no one to serve her breakfast, and even going out to eat flatbread on the street—even a three-year-old wouldn't believe that.

Du Yutong chased after Jiang Shuyue and they laughed so hard they couldn't stand up straight.

"Sister Yue'er, do you think Aunt and the Headmaster have a chance?"

Jiang Shuyue thought for a moment and said, "It's hard to say. I can feel that Uncle Lin is nervous."

Du Wenru stopped laughing. "I saw a light in my aunt's eyes. She must be interested in the head of the academy."

"I didn't tell Uncle Lin beforehand that the person I was meeting today was Aunt Du. I'll just let things take their course."

Jiang Shuyue didn't know which street Xu An and Qiu Ju had gone to. The two walked side by side toward a less crowded street.

The two strolled around for more than an hour before heading back.

When they returned, they saw Xu An and Qiu Ju also carrying two large bags and had come looking for them.
