Chapter 38 Entering the Prince's Mansion

Xiang Yang watched the figure disappear around the corner and asked Xiang Song, "Master, are you heading towards the city gate? Has something happened outside the city again?"

Xiang Song quickly turned his horse around: "Take the girl into the Prince's mansion."

He left Song with a single sentence and then disappeared into the distance.

"Please, young lady."

Outside the Prince of Yannan's mansion, there are white walls and shady trees, and a plaque hangs above the tall gate.

The words "Yan Nan Prince's Mansion" are gilded and bold, exuding a grand and majestic aura.

Two guardian beasts stand guard on either side of the entrance.

The gatekeeper, dressed as a guard, was used to seeing Xiangyang leading the doctor in and opened the gate, which was about to be closed, without asking a single question.

Stepping through the first hanging flower gate and then onto the covered walkway, one is greeted by a garden full of lush greenery, exotic flowers and rare herbs, and a fragrant aroma.

The corridors and passageways, the artificial hills and waterside pavilions are simple and elegant, with a new view every ten steps, truly magnificent.

The Prince's mansion was too large, and Jiang Shuyue followed Xiang Yang through many twists and turns to a courtyard.

Jiang Shuyue looked up and saw that the plaque above the courtyard gate read "Xiuzhuxuan," which was clearly where the man lived.

As its name suggests, the courtyard has a grove of Monstera deliciosa growing in one corner. The lush green leaves rustle in the breeze.

The scenery in the courtyard is well-arranged, and the Monstera deliciosa symbolizes health and longevity. Every scene and object shows how much the Prince of Yannan and his wife love their eldest son.

"Please wait a moment, I'll have someone go in and inform them right away."

The courtyard gate was open, and Jiang Shuyue and Nangong Zeyue, being well-mannered, followed Xiang Yang into the courtyard and stopped in front of the small garden.

Just as Xiangyang was about to walk forward, he saw a maid running out in a panic.

"It's terrible! The young master is coughing up blood again! Quickly, fetch the family physician!"

"Here I am, here I am, I brought the doctor with me, didn't I?" Xiangyang stammered as he got anxious.

Seeing the urgency of the situation, Jiang Shuyue said, "I am a doctor, please lead the way."

The maid was slightly taken aback; this was the first time the Prince's mansion had sought out a female physician.

She said to Xiangyang, "Please trouble the guard to take the doctor inside. I will go and call the physician from the manor."

Whenever an unfamiliar doctor entered the manor, the royal physician would stand by and watch, not daring to make the slightest mistake.

As soon as I stepped into the small hall, I heard a violent coughing sound coming from inside.

"Young master, please bear with it. Xiangcao has gone to call the royal physician, and he will be here soon."

"Xiao Guizi, stop pouring water and go quickly to inform the Princess that the young master's old illness has flared up again."

Inside the room, there were hurried footsteps and the maid's tearful cries.

A servant rushed out of the house. If Nangong Zeyue hadn't reacted quickly and pulled Jiang Shuyue back, the servant would have almost bumped into Jiang Shuyue.

"Excuse me, this servant is in a hurry to call the Princess." The servant bowed slightly, not even having time to raise his head, and continued running outside.

Inside the room, on a small couch, a man was coughing violently with his head down, a handkerchief covering his lips, while a maidservant anxiously stroked his back.

A handkerchief covered half of his face, and beneath his sword-like eyebrows, his eyes were half-closed.

His hand holding the handkerchief was slightly pale, and his cough brought a flush to his face, with the veins on his temples bulging slightly.

"Young Master, the doctor has arrived." Xiang Yang quickly moved the small stool next to the small couch.

"Aunt, young lady, please take a look at the young master. He seems to be in a rather serious condition today."

Seeing that Xiang Yang was so anxious that he was incoherent, Jiang Shuyue took the medical kit and placed it on the table, then quickly took out her stethoscope and went over to him.

The man stopped coughing, and the maid took the handkerchief from his hand.

Jiang Shuyue glanced at the handkerchief and noticed thick phlegm mixed with blood.

"water."

The man's voice was weak, as if it were being squeezed out of his throat.

Jiang Shuyue froze the moment the man looked up.

Those phoenix eyes were like stars and the moon shrouded in dark clouds, devoid of brilliance and lifeless.

The man resembled a sickly beauty, with delicate facial features that bore a striking resemblance to Sui Sui.

this……

Was he the person she saw last time?

“Miss, our young master was fine a few days ago, but after it rained, he fell ill.”

Seeing Jiang Shuyue standing there dumbfounded, holding a bright object in her hand, the maid continued to explain the cause of her illness.

Did you go to the capital four years ago?

The man put down his water glass and shook his head slightly.

"Miss, are you really a doctor?" The maid asked, not caring whether she would offend the doctor.

She worried that the quack doctor was only after the large reward advertised.

“Miss Liu, you mustn’t be rude. Miss Jiang is no ordinary doctor.” Xiang Yang was no longer in a hurry and spoke more fluently.

He couldn't explain why, but seeing Jiang Shuyue's calm and composed demeanor, he inexplicably trusted her.

"When did the young master first develop this illness?" Jiang Shuyue calmly took his pulse through a layer of brocade.

"This servant has heard the Princess Consort say that the eldest young master has had an illness since childhood, but as for the specific time, this servant does not know."

Xiao Kang had long since given up hope for his illness. He picked up where Liu'er left off, saying, "She's about a year old and has been coughing incessantly, with each cough lasting for two months."

Regardless of whether the doctor could cure him, Xiao Kang believed that answering every question was the proper conduct of a gentleman.

Jiang Shuyue performed a series of examinations, including observation, listening, questioning, and palpation, before picking up her stethoscope.

"Young Master, please open your shirt a little so I can better examine the cause of your illness."

"Young lady, you've already taken her pulse, why do you need to check again? After all, there's a difference between men and women, isn't that inappropriate?"
