Nangong Zeyue stood by the window, watching that familiar figure disappear around the corner of the corridor.
Her moist eyes were filled with longing.
Moon Maiden, thank you for everything you've done for me. The unrestrained Nangong Zeyue will never exist again.
Jiang Shuyue returned to the courtyard and spread out Xuan paper.
Qiu Ju ground the ink, and Jiang Shuyue set up the palette. An hour later, a painting depicting the deep affection between mother and child came into view.
"Miss, you and the young master are separated for who knows when you will meet again. He wants to leave a memory, so why don't you paint a separate picture of him?"
Qiuju looked at the two hands, one big and one small, holding hands on the Xuan paper. The young lady had even specially drawn a woman's hairstyle that she disliked.
Jiang Shuyue put down her paintbrush. "I understand his feelings. He will have a beloved girl someday. This painting will at least not cause any misunderstandings."
Qiuju brought over a painting tube, and Jiang Shuyue rolled up the painting and put it inside.
Knowing that Nangong Zeyue would be leaving soon, Jiang Shuyue instructed Cangyun to send all the seeds and medicinal herbs she had prepared for Nangong Zeyue to the neighbor's house.
Qiuju led Cangyun to open the storeroom, and they were dumbfounded when they saw the bulging cloth bags.
She was starting to feel confused. Had she remembered it wrong?
There were only half a bag of seeds left, how did so many sprout up overnight?
There haven't been any delivery vendors coming to the government office lately. Could it be that the seeds have sprouted in the cloth bag because of the warm weather?
Qiuju quickly untied the bag, grabbed a handful, and examined them closely. The seeds inside were plump, but showed no signs of germination.
Seeing Qiuju acting strangely, Cangyun asked, "Sister-in-law, are you reluctant to give all these things away?"
"No, that's not true. I was just checking if the seeds had gone bad," Qiuju quickly denied, tying the cloth bag tightly.
"Sister-in-law, you're overthinking it. I sent a truckload of seeds to the village. The air is humid in the countryside, and none of the seeds in the warehouse there have sprouted. There won't be any problems."
As he spoke, Cangyun reached out, grabbed the cloth bag, and walked out.
He made more than ten trips by himself to deliver all the items.
Gong Xishuo happened to be next door today. Upon seeing the seeds that Cangyun had sent, he was so excited that he thanked him repeatedly.
He had personally witnessed how other countries spent huge sums of money but still couldn't buy so many seeds, while Yue Niang gave them so many for free, which showed how good Yue Niang was to her master.
Cangyun dusted off his sleeves and said, "These were all sent by my young lady. She said that the young master needs the support of the people when he returns to Liang. You must make good use of these things and not let my young lady down."
Gong Xishuo respectfully bowed to Cangyun, "Thank you. Please convey my gratitude to your young lady on my behalf. If Your Highness successfully ascends to the position of Crown Prince, Liang and Wanling will surely be friendly for generations and form an eternal alliance."
Jiang Shuyue thought that this parting might be forever, so she asked Gao Mu to go to the palace to bring Sui Sui back to see Nangong Zeyue off.
But instead of following Sui Sui's message, she brought back a different piece of news.
The Emperor is hosting a banquet tonight to entertain the Liang Kingdom's envoy and Nangong Zeyue.
“Miss, what does the Emperor mean? Our household has prepared a farewell banquet for the young master, and now he’s preparing a palace banquet. Isn’t this putting the young master in a difficult position?”
Qiuju instructed Mei'er to make arrangements early this morning, but the Emperor's arrangements disrupted the young lady's plans again, which inevitably made her unhappy.
Gao Mu continued to report: "His Majesty has also invited Miss to come to the palace."
Jiang Shuyue's eyes darkened, and her delicate brows furrowed slightly. "It seems he will be leaving the capital tomorrow."
Jiang Shuyue said to Qiuju, "Come back to the room with me to tidy up. We'll go next door in a bit."
After Jiang Shuyue returned to her room, she packed the organized booklets and portraits into a vermilion wooden box.
As Qiuju turned around, with a thought, ingots of gold filled the entire bottom of the box.
Jiang Shuyue didn't count how many there were, but she could see the painting tubes and books visibly rising up.
Jiang Shuyue didn't withdraw her hand until the box was completely full.
She had so much gold and silver that she had lost count. Nangong Ze was returning to Liang Kingdom at the beginning of the month and would need to spend money on many things. Having money on hand would make things easier.
If she had given it to him openly, Nangong Zeyue would never have accepted it.
Money makes the world go round; if he spends his own private funds, the other princes won't be able to find fault with him.
Having met, gotten to know, and fallen in love, Jiang Shuyue hopes that he will have a smooth and happy life after returning home.
After tidying up, Jiang Shuyue asked Qiuju to bring over a large brass lock and personally locked the wooden box.
When Gao Mu came over to move the boxes, he paused for a moment. Qiu Ju saw that he was struggling to carry the wooden boxes, and the veins on the back of his hands were bulging.
Qiuju was puzzled. The wooden box was a bit big, but there were only a few things inside. Was it really necessary to go through all this trouble?
Sigh! Who said a man is in his prime at thirty? He's clearly just a dreg of his health.
She's not even thirty yet, and she's already this weak.
Qiuju secretly decided that she could no longer let him have his way with some things.
"My lady, what kind of look is that? I'll take it next door first, and you and Miss will be here shortly."
Qiuju waved her hand, "Stop nagging, or the box will fall on your foot. It's too much trouble for you to carry it alone, so let Cangyun help you lift it."
Gao Mu: "..."
Is he being rejected by his wife?
God knows how heavy that wooden crate is!
As Gao Mu stepped out of the courtyard gate, he saw Cang Yun returning and quickly called out, "Cang Yun, quickly lend a hand!"
Cangyun walked over and grinned mischievously, "Brother Gao, you've only been married for less than half a year, and your internal energy is almost gone."
"Don't just stand there and talk like you don't know what's going on. You'll see once you try it yourself."
Seeing that Gao Mu was not joking, Cang Yun took a quick step forward and supported the bottom of the wooden box with one hand.
"Huh! What's inside? Why is it so heavy?" Cang Yun stumbled.
