Chapter 547 No Surprises

Jiang Shuyue thought that her menstrual cycle was very regular and that she was very likely to conceive. After getting married, she wanted to have a honeymoon for the two of them.

"Ah Zhao, we already have Sui Sui, so let's not rush into having children after we get married, okay?"

Without hesitation, Xiao Jingzhao replied, "Okay, I'll do whatever Yue Niang says."

The two lay in bed embracing each other, sometimes whispering sweet nothings, sometimes kissing passionately.

As they spent intimate moments together, Jiang Shuyue truly admired Xiao Jingzhao's composure and forbearance.

No wonder there are rumors that he is not interested in women. Even when the two were skin to skin, he resisted the urge to cross the final line.

Jiang Shuyue fell asleep in his arms without anyone noticing.

When she opened her eyes the next morning, the faint scent of cold bamboo still lingered in the tent, but he was no longer there beside her.

I reached out and touched the spot where he had been lying; it was already ice-cold.

Jiang Shuyue was preoccupied with the happy occasion of Uncle Lin and Aunt Du next door. She didn't have time to savor the sweetness of last night and quickly put on her underwear and got out of bed.

As usual, Lan'er would prepare water for washing up as soon as she heard any movement inside the house before going out to serve breakfast.

After a quick wash, Qiuju helped her tie her hair up.

Seeing that Jiang Shuyue's lips were slightly swollen, Qiuju suppressed a laugh and said in a serious tone, "Miss, the mosquito-repelling sachets in the room have stopped working. Tonight, I will guard you and make sure the mosquitoes don't get any closer."

Jiang Shuyue glared at Qiu Ju through the bronze mirror, "You can't hide anything from me. Mosquitoes can't carry such a big burden."

"Miss, could the Emperor be the reincarnation of a high monk? His composure is beyond the reach of ordinary people."

Qiuju served her closely, tidying the sheets and blankets every day, and naturally knew that her young mistress and the emperor had not yet taken that step.

"Now that you mention it, I think it's true."

Jiang Shuyue couldn't help but cover her mouth and laugh after she finished speaking.

During the meal, Qiuju noticed that Jiang Shuyue was eating rather quickly, so she quickly poured her a cup of hot tea and handed it to her, saying, "Miss, eat slowly, don't choke."

Jiang Shuyue took the hot tea and sipped it. "I talked with the Emperor until the third watch of the night before I went to sleep, so I overslept today."

Qiuju naturally didn't believe that the two of them had been talking all night.

Seeing Jiang Shuyue's hurried appearance, Qiuju said, "Gao Mu and Cangyun went to welcome the bride with Uncle Lin. The food and wine were all delivered by Juxian Pavilion. There's nothing to do at the manor."

"Just the two of them going to fetch the bride? Isn't that a bit too simple?"

"Uncle Lin said it was arranged by Aunt Du. She told Uncle Lin not to bring any betrothal gifts. But Uncle Lin still prepared betrothal gifts today, and the carriage was decorated with red silk. Although it was not grand, it was not impolite."

After finishing her meal and tidying up briefly, Jiang Shuyue hurriedly went next door.

Lan'er and Mei'er went over to help.

The first person to arrive was Xu An, accompanied by two palace eunuchs.

The steward went to greet him and learned that it was the Emperor who had sent the gift.

Upon seeing Jiang Shuyue, Xu An immediately performed a grand salute, saying, "Greetings, Your Majesty."

Jiang Shuyue quickly reached out and supported his arm. "Xu An, it's better to call me 'sister'."

Xu An straightened up, grinned, and called out again, "Sister Yue'er."

In the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, Su Huai-ren and his wife arrived.

In the main hall, everyone gathered around the eight-immortal table, enjoying tea and conversation in a lively atmosphere.

Hearing firecrackers outside, Qiuju said, "The bride has arrived."

Jiang Shuyue and Qiu Ju hurriedly went out to greet them.

Lin Miaoshou and Du Wenru are both dressed in festive bright red wedding attire today.

Seeing Jiang Shuyue go to greet her, Du Wenru said apologetically, "He prepared all of this. I told him not to do this, but he wouldn't listen."

"Auntie looks so beautiful today. This dress is gorgeous. I never knew Uncle Lin could be so thoughtful. Auntie is going to be very lucky in the future," Jiang Shuyue praised.

Today's wedding ceremony was simple; we didn't ask for a brazier or anything like that, as Lin Miaoshou said she didn't believe in that kind of thing.

Everyone crowded around the bride and groom as they entered the backyard. The two bowed to heaven and earth in front of the memorial tablets of Lin Miaoshou's parents, thus completing the ceremony.

There weren't many relatives or friends, so the restaurant sent over two tables of food and drinks. The two raised their glasses to accept everyone's blessings.

Su Huai-ren and his wife raised their glasses, and he said in a serious tone, "I wish my brother and sister-in-law a son soon."

Lin Miaoshou blushed slightly. "Thank you for your blessing, Brother Su. I hope I will have the opportunity to enjoy family happiness again in this life."

Du Wenru blushed and smiled without saying a word.

Jiang Shuyue took the opportunity to raise her glass, "May Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin live in harmony and love without doubt."

Then he winked playfully at Du Wenru, "With me here, there won't be any surprises."

Everyone immediately understood the meaning of Jiang Shuyue's words, and Qiuju, Lan'er, and Mei'er burst into laughter.

After a satisfying meal, Mr. and Mrs. Su Huai-ren took their leave.

Seeing this, Xu An also wisely got up to say goodbye.

Jiang Shuyue naturally wouldn't stay and delay the newlyweds from entering their bridal chamber, so she got up and returned to the mansion with her maids.

The betrothal gifts that Lin Miaoshou sent to the Du family were brought back by Du Wenru.

Gao Mu and Cang Yun helped the steward put the dowry, betrothal gifts, and other gifts into the storeroom before returning to the Jiang residence.

Lin Miaoshou and Du Wenru rekindled their romance, falling in love and overjoyed. After seeing everyone off, the two returned to the inner courtyard hand in hand.

Du Wenru brought her own personal maid, Cui'er. When Cui'er saw her mistress and son-in-law enter the bridal chamber, she quietly closed the door and went to the next room.

The two returned to their joyous bridal chamber and found nuptial wine prepared on the table.

Lin Miaoshou poured a glass of wine and handed it to Du Wenru.

"Wenru, after you drink this glass of wine, we will be a real couple. I will respect and love you for the rest of my life."

Du Wenru took the wine glass and asked, "Who taught you to say that?"

"No, no one taught me, it's just what I thought in my heart."

Lin Miaoshou was too embarrassed to say that his disciple had taught him several sentences, but he had only remembered one.
