Chapter 207 White Dragon King, I have failed to greet you properly.
Achan did a quick mental calculation and realized that Ji Heng should be under fifty years old.
"Is he really that talented?" she murmured to herself. This was hardly good news.
“If he is truly talented, why go to such lengths? His breakthrough must be related to the methods left behind by the Demon Emperor. With benefits come corresponding limitations,” Bai Xiuming said.
My father had said before that taking this shortcut would put us under the control of the Demon Emperor. Although the Demon Emperor is no longer here, his bloodline has not been severed.
Princess Xueyao went to great lengths to seize the Demon Seal, and after failing, she risked offending the Dragon Clan to steal the Dragon Pearl. She must have gone to such great lengths just to help others break through.
If she were truly that naive, she wouldn't have become the Demon Emperor's last surviving offspring. What truly binds her and Ji Heng together isn't just self-interest and affection.
Ah Chan thought about Bai Xiuming's words and felt they made a lot of sense. If there weren't huge benefits to be had, why would Ji Heng give up his marquisate and promising future in the Great Xia Dynasty?
Breaking through the fifth realm is worth any price.
It's a pity that Ji Chan and her mother became victims of this man's ambition, remaining completely unaware of the truth until their deaths.
"What is his relationship with Princess Xueyao now?" Achan was still lost in her thoughts, her fingers unconsciously hooking Bai Xiuming's clothes.
"The couple has five children, all of whom are quite talented," Bai Xiuming told her, relaying the information Ming Wang had received over the past two days.
Achan wasn't surprised at all: "With a harmonious marriage and both a son and a daughter, Princess Xueyao's life must be very comfortable."
"Huh?" Bai Xiuming didn't understand what she meant.
“If she hadn’t been living such a comfortable life, she wouldn’t have remembered Ji Chan and her daughter, who had long been abandoned by Ji Heng in Daxia.” Achan curled her lips, her tone full of sarcasm. “She’s so greedy. She’s taken all the benefits, and she still doesn’t think it’s enough.”
Bai Xiuming looked up into A Chan's clear, cold eyes and asked, "Are you angry?"
"I am very angry." Achan did not deny it. Although Ji Chan would not know anything, Achan still felt wronged for her.
"It's just because of his own likes and dislikes, and because he's worried that Ji Heng will feel sorry for her after he becomes a Fifth Realm cultivator, so he wants Ji Chan dead. Such reasons would taint her path of reincarnation."
Bai Xiuming raised his hand to cover A Chan's eyes and whispered to her lips, "Don't be angry, I'll kill them for you, okay?"
The darkness before her eyes did not calm Achan down. Her hand deftly slipped into Bai Xiuming's slightly open collar, her fingertips touching his firm, warm muscles, and beneath her fingertips was the sound of his strong heartbeat.
She pressed her hand against his heart and asked, "Why is it you who went? Where is the King of Light?"
Ji Heng betrayed the Great Xia. It's better not to know, because if we knew, the Great Xia would never let him off the hook.
But Achan believed that at least the Ming King should take action.
Bai Xiuming paused for a moment: "If Father were to intervene, it would provoke a war between the two races. I am more suitable."
Achan frowned: "Only you?"
Bai Xiuming gave a soft "hmm" and pressed his thin lips to hers, slowly caressing them.
The five realms of Great Xia are naturally not limited to him and his father, but the other five realms are not within the territory of Great Xia. If the ancestors are summoned back for this matter, his father will probably get a beating.
In this matter, he is the best choice.
Achan parted her lips slightly and uttered two words: "No."
Bai Xiuming silently curled the corners of his lips: "Don't you want me to kill them for you?"
"I want to," Achan replied without hesitation, "but you can't do it alone."
If she had no connection with Bai Xiuming now, she would have tried every means to use him as a tool to kill someone, but now, his life is much more important than Ji Heng's life.
A battle between beings from the fifth realm is completely different from one between beings from the fourth realm. There are too many variables involved, and there might even be demons jumping out. She absolutely cannot let Bai Xiuming gamble with his life.
Even if we are to take action, we must have a foolproof plan.
Seeing that he didn't speak, Achan bit his lower lip, her voice slightly muffled: "Did you hear me? You're not allowed to go until I agree."
The two separated slightly, and Bai Xiuming licked his lower lip, chuckling, "So domineering?"
"You have a problem with that?"
"I dare not."
"Hmph, if you dare to sneak off behind my back, you can expect to be single for life," Achan warned fiercely.
At this moment, her eyes were red from being kissed, and her gaze was glazed over, so this warning had no deterrent effect whatsoever.
Bai Xiuming's throat moved, his voice low and hoarse: "Okay, I'll do whatever you say."
Before Achan could even feel happy, her body was suddenly suspended in mid-air and she was lifted up in someone's arms.
She quickly wrapped her arms around Bai Xiuming's neck and scolded, "What are you doing?"
"I've been so obedient, shouldn't I get a reward?"
"No... um..." The words were cut off before they could be uttered.
Bai Xiuming pressed down on the back of A Chan's head with one hand and their lips and tongues intertwined as he carried her toward the bed.
As he placed her on the bed and leaned over her, the bed curtains behind him fell, obscuring their intertwined figures.
As the rain subsided, Achan nestled in Bai Xiuming's arms, her long, black hair cascading over him, her eyelashes drooping slightly.
Bai Xiuming gently stroked her back, and after she calmed down a bit, he casually mentioned to her that the White Dragon King was coming to the capital.
Achan was about to fall asleep, but after hearing his words, she struggled to open her eyes: "Is that little white dragon's elder coming to give us a thank-you gift? Are dragons so polite?"
No matter how you look at it, this doesn't seem like something a dragon could do.
Based on her understanding of the dragon race, if they knew someone had saved their people, they would say it was an honor for you.
Bai Xiuming chuckled; Achan's reaction was exactly the same as his father's.
"Perhaps the other party has other matters to attend to, but you can wait at home to receive the gift."
Ah Chan yawned: "Okay."
Before Bai Xiuming could speak, her fingers had already reached out and touched Bai Xiuming's lips: "Don't speak, I'm so sleepy."
Not long after she finished speaking, Bai Xiuming heard her even breathing; she had fallen asleep.
When Achan woke up the next day, she only vaguely remembered that Bai Xiuming had spoken to her, but she had completely forgotten what he said.
In the following days, it rained for several days in a row in the capital, and the house was damp.
When Achan woke up that day, it was clearly past 9 AM, but the view outside the window was still gloomy.
She got out of bed and opened the window. The dark clouds in the sky were very low, and a light rain was falling outside. It was another rainy day.
This kind of weather has lasted for five or six days. Although the rain is not heavy, the sun is nowhere to be seen, and everything is damp, which makes people feel depressed.
After washing up, Achan went to the kitchen. Huiniang left her a bowl of cucumber soup and an egg pancake in the pot, still warm.
After she finished her meal, she took the plate of snacks from the house to the shop in front.
The weather has been bad these past few days, and business at the shop has been very poor; we hardly see any customers all day.
Chen Hui was organizing the various spices in the cabinet to prevent them from getting damp and going unnoticed when she saw A Chan carrying a plate of dried fruit in. She looked up and greeted her.
"I'll help you." Achan placed the plate of dried fruit on the counter and moved closer to Chen Hui.
"No need, it's almost done. You can sit over there, I'll be right there."
Achan didn't want to sit down. Looking at the street outside where there were hardly any pedestrians, she muttered, "I've been sitting here for days."
Chen Hui pushed the open drawers back one by one, stood up, dusted herself off, and said with a smile, "Didn't Boss Xu send over several storybooks yesterday?"
"The storybooks haven't been very good lately," A-Chan said with obvious disdain, then suggested, "How about we play chess?"
Chen Hui thought about A-Chan's terrible chess skills and nodded happily, "Okay, the chessboard seems to be on the second floor. Wait a moment, I'll go get it."
She walked past Achan to the second floor, while Achan carried the snacks to a table to the side.
Just then, the half-open door was pushed open from the outside, and a cool, refreshing mist rushed in. The rain outside had intensified at some point.
A man and a woman walked in. The man was tall and wore a luxurious white robe embroidered with gold patterns. He had beautiful, smooth silver hair that fell over his shoulders. He was exceptionally handsome, and his eyes were golden. His gaze was cold and condescending.
The woman behind him was wearing a long blue dress and holding a paper umbrella, which only covered herself and did not pay any attention to the man in front of her. However, the man was unusually dry and not wet at all.
Achan looked at the two of them, her expression unchanged, and asked, "What would you two like to buy?"
Just then, Chen Hui's voice came from upstairs: "Achan, where did you put the chess set?"
Before Achan could answer, she suddenly saw the paper umbrella in the woman's blue dress fall to the ground. She looked up and saw an extremely familiar face.
"Ah Mian?" For a moment, she thought she was seeing things.
"Ah Chan!"
Achan blinked once and heard her name called, then the blue figure pounced on her.
She instinctively opened her arms, but the person who rushed into her arms had no weight or warmth, only a gentle coolness.
"Achan, I knew it had to be you. I miss you so much." Her sister's familiar sobbing voice still echoed in her ears. After a brief moment of stunned silence, Achan reached out and poked her back. It was soft and bouncy, and felt quite nice to the touch.
A-Mian looked up, her eyes brimming with tears, and gently poked A-Chan's face in return: "How did you become like this?"
If I told her the reason now, she would definitely cry again, so I could only ask her in return, "And what about you?"
Although A-Mian's appearance has not changed, she is clearly no longer a half-demon, nor is she any race that A-Chan knows.
Amian pouted: "It's a long story."
The two sisters, who hadn't seen each other for a long time, held hands and started whispering to each other, completely ignoring the man standing to the side.
Chen Hui was slightly taken aback when she came down from the second floor with a chessboard and a chess set and saw the two people holding hands downstairs.
“Achan, who is this…” Chen Hui looked at Amian. It was the first time she had seen Achan so close to a woman.
"This is my sister, Amian, and this is Huiniang, my friend," Achan introduced the two.
"Hello, Hui Niang." A Mian turned to greet Chen Hui, her eyes crinkling with a sweet and adorable look.
Chen Hui's expression relaxed: "Hello."
"And this one?" Chen Hui didn't miss the unfamiliar man standing to the side and asked him politely as well.
After all, the person in front of them didn't look like an ordinary person.
A-Mian didn't even look at the other person and said, "He's not important, ignore him."
The man's lips curled down, clearly displeased with Ah Mian's words.
Ah Chan tilted her head slightly, looking past Ah Mian at the other person. With such a striking appearance and that special eye color, before she could voice her guess, another figure appeared outside the door.
Looking at the lively group of people in the room, Bai Xiuming calmly stepped in and bowed slightly to the man, saying, "White Dragon King, I am sorry for not welcoming you sooner."
