Chapter 37 Father Ji's Birthday

After hearing Gao Fei's words, Jiang Jingchu's face suddenly darkened.

As soon as I arrived at the company, I went straight to the chairman's office.

Jiang Chengwang was reviewing documents and glanced at Jiang Jingchu.

"Who taught you the rules of coming in without knocking?"

Jiang Jingchu hummed, casually sat down on the chair opposite the desk, picked up a snuff bottle ornament on the table and played with it in his palm.

“No one taught me, so there are no rules.”

Jiang Chengwang knew what Jiang Jingchu meant.

He and Yuan Mei had a bad relationship since they got married and had been separated for a long time. Jiang Jingchu grew up with his grandparents, and they didn't take much care of him.

Later, when Jiang Jingchu was in junior high school, Jiang Chengwang and Yuan Mei agreed to divorce. Yuan Mei went to another place, and Jiang Chengwang started a new family. Jiang Jingchu became a wild child who was not loved by his father and not cared for by his mother.

Jiang Jingchu appears cynical on the surface and acts as if he doesn't care about anything, but in fact he is quite resentful towards Jiang Chengwang and Yuan Mei in his heart.

Jiang Chengwang did not continue with Jiang Jingchu's words.

He put down the pen in his hand and crossed his hands on the table.

"No one comes to visit you for no reason. Tell me, what do you want from me?"

Jiang Jingchu was still playing with the ornaments in his hands.

"I heard that you are also going to Mr. Ji's birthday party tonight?"

Jiang Chengwang said "hmm".

"Your mother gave me the task of setting a date for your wedding with the Ji family today."

Jiang Jingchu didn't raise his head or open his eyes.

"I don't want to get married for now. You guys can set the wedding date on your own. I won't be responsible if there's no groom by then."

"What are you talking about!"

Jiang Chengwang frowned unhappily, his eyes stern and sharp.

"Why did you get engaged if you didn't want to get married? You're wasting your time!"

Jiang Jingchu smiled after hearing this, put the snuff bottle back on the table, adjusted its position, then raised his head and looked at Jiang Chengwang.

"Chairman Jiang, what you said is a bit unfair. You were there when Ms. Yuan pressured me to get engaged. What exactly did she say? If you can't remember, can I help you recall it?"

Yuan Mei's original words at the time were, "Xiaochu, engagement doesn't mean marriage, it's just a formality. When you really want to get married, it's up to you to decide, and we will never interfere."

Jiang Jingchu knew that Jiang Chengwang had not forgotten, and snorted coldly.

"Why, before your divorce, you two were incompatible and couldn't get along, but after the divorce, your hearts are on the same side and you want to team up and use the same trick on me again?"

Jiang Chengwang was so annoyed by Jiang Jingchu's call that he couldn't think of any rebuttal. He pointed at Jiang Jingchu with his trembling fingers.

"Jiang Jingchu, watch your attitude when talking to me!"

Although Jiang Jingchu spoke in a nonchalant tone, his aura was no less than Jiang Chengwang's.

"If you want me to have a good attitude, you have to do things well too."

"Don't mention the wedding date tonight, or I won't mind embarrassing both the Jiang and Ji families in public."

"You dare!"

Jiang Chengwang was so angry that he slammed the table hard.

"Jiang Jingchu, you've really grown wings. You even dare to threaten your father."

"No wonder your mother said that last time you caused unrest in the entire North City because of a woman, she was worried that the longer you stayed, the more trouble you would cause.

Now it seems that your mother's concerns are completely justified. Tell me honestly, is it because of this woman that you don't want to marry Jingya?"

Jiang Jingchu didn't expect Ms. Yuan to be so persistent. She used both soft and hard tactics in front of him. Not only did she threaten him, but she also had her sights set on Jiang Chengwang.

Did she really think that after cruelly abandoning her son for more than ten or twenty years, she would come back and interfere in his life as his mother?

Jiang Jingchu laughed out loud in anger.

"Don't worry about who I'm doing this for. I just don't want to get married for now. If any of you force me again, I will immediately announce that I'm canceling my engagement with Ji Jingya!"

After Jiang Jingchu finished speaking, he turned around and walked out.

Jiang Chengwang was so angry that he grabbed the documents on the table and threw them at Jiang Jingchu's back.

But it didn't even touch half of Jiang Jingchu's clothes, and fell to the carpet in flutters.

The Ji family here is a scene of joy and liveliness.

Ji Jingya sat in front of the makeup mirror in the cloakroom, with several stylists surrounding her.

After finishing all the makeup, she looked at herself in the mirror.

A champagne-colored V-neck dress, with a large number of small diamonds of different sizes dotted on the chest, a smooth and fitting waist, and a classic fishtail skirt style underneath, which made her whole body shine, as if she really looked like a mermaid princess running out of the sea.

Ji Jingya curled her lips helplessly and looked at Ji's mother.

"Mom, am I dressing too formally? Today is Dad's birthday, and Dad is the star."

The more Ji's mother looked at her daughter, the more she liked her.

"Why is it so grand? You're the only daughter your father and I have, shouldn't you dress up a little prettier?"

"Besides, the Jiang family might have to discuss your marriage with your father tonight, so it's fair to say that you're the protagonist."

Ji Jingya sighed.

"This matter is still uncertain. Jingchu hasn't mentioned it to me yet."

"He didn't mention it because he wanted to give you a surprise. This news was told to me by your future mother-in-law, Yuan Mei herself. How could it be false?"

"But…"

"But what but!"

Before Ji Jingya could finish her words, she was pushed out of the cloakroom by Ji's mother.

"Let's go out quickly, your dad has been waiting for a long time."

Ji Jingya can be said to be a true socialite in Beicheng. She is beautiful and has a good family background.

But she usually focuses on her work and rarely attends banquets, so when she entered today, she immediately caused the admiration of many people who had never seen her true face.

Everyone gathered around her and greeted and flattered Ji's mother.

She listened to a few sentences casually, most of which were about her and Jiang Jingchu's impending marriage.

Ji Jingya had no intention of socializing with those rich ladies and young ladies. She responded lightly, but her eyes seemed to be paying attention to the door.

Jiang Jingchu was caught by Ji Jingya's eyes almost the moment he entered the door.

He was dressed particularly formally today, in a high-end custom-made suit and his hair was slightly styled.

He strides with long legs and a calm and unhurried posture.

People like him are destined to be the focus of the crowd wherever they go.

Ji Jingya heard the excited voices of several rich ladies behind her,

"Wow, the prince is so handsome, even the way he walks is so handsome that I can't help myself."

"Yeah, yeah, I've only seen him in the financial section of newspapers before, and I thought he was quite handsome back then. But seeing him in person today, I think he's even more handsome than in the photo."

"It's a pity that we met too late, it's a pity that we met too late..."

"Wake up, no matter how handsome you are, you are already taken. Unless you have a better family background than Ji Jingya, the prince of the Jiang family will always be the man you and I can never have."

At this time, Jiang Jingchu had already walked into the crowd and stood in front of Ji Jingya's father.

He stood firm, his attitude neither humble nor arrogant, and in front of Ji's father, a business tycoon who had been immersed in the business world for half his life, he was not at all inferior in momentum.

He took the gift from Gao Fei, politely presented it to Ji's father, and said a few words of blessing.

Father Ji's happiness was beyond words, and he patted Jiang Jingchu affectionately.

To outsiders, the interaction between the two seems to be a very harmonious relationship between father-in-law and son-in-law.

Everyone, including Ji Jingya and Jiang Jingchu's parents, thought that her engagement with Jiang Jingchu was the result of an extremely perfect business marriage.

Only Ji Jingya knew in her heart that it was not the case.

They initially had an ordinary doctor-patient relationship.

She helped him forget the woman who had taken root in his heart.

Later, by chance, they reached an agreement with each other, which became a pretext for each other to arrange various blind dates and marriages.

Jiang Jingchu has always viewed their cooperative relationship in this way.

But Ji Jingya suddenly found that she had been sinking into depravity without realizing it, and had even gradually put herself into the role of Jiang Jingchu's fiancée.

When her thoughts reached this point, Ji Jingya's eyes met Jiang Jingchu's across the crowd.

Jiang Jingchu nodded at her and was about to walk over when Gao Fei beside him answered a phone call and came over and whispered in his ear,

"Mr. Jiang, Miss Qin called and said she just got off the plane. She wanted to know if it's convenient for you to meet now."
