Jiang Jingchu patted Han Xian's shoulder.
"We'll talk about it later when we have a chance."
Zhou Tiantian was holding Qin Huan's hand, looking distressed.
"Huan'er, why is it you who always gets hurt..."
Qin Huan grabbed Zhou Tiantian's cheeks and pulled them to the sides.
"Alright, I came all this way, got hurt, and saw blood. You should calm down now, right?"
Zhou Tiantian curled her lips,
"I'm not mad at you."
Qin Huan sighed.
"You too, you didn't even bother to call me when you encountered something. Don't you consider me a friend?"
"How could that be! I just saw that you had a lot of troubles on your own and didn't want you to worry about me anymore."
Qin Huan certainly understood Zhou Tiantian's intention, and a warm feeling surged in her heart.
He glanced at Han Xian.
"People heard you've returned to Mingxi Town and were so nervous they dragged us over to look for you overnight. Since they're so sincere, please stop throwing a tantrum. Otherwise, even the best relationship we've ever had will be ruined."
"Listen to me, give me a way out, and you'll be a bride in a week. Then you must look beautiful both in person and in mood."
Only after seeing Zhou Tiantian nod did Qin Huan feel completely relieved.
After getting in the car, Qin Huan looked at Jiang Jingchu.
"Where to now?"
Jiang Jingchu tapped the steering wheel with his fingers.
"I'm in your territory, and you ask me where I'm going?"
Qin Huan lowered her eyes and took a deep breath.
"Then let's go back to my house first."
Jiang Jingchu had been to Mingxi Town several times and was quite familiar with the place. He drove straight to Qin Huan's doorstep.
Qin Huan thought that since she hadn't been back for a few years, the yard outside must be overgrown with weeds, but she didn't expect it to be unexpectedly clean.
A trace of doubt flashed through her mind. Could it be her mother Cao Fang at home?
Jiang Jingchu also had doubts in his mind. Seeing Qin Huan standing at the door without moving, he took the initiative to go forward and knock on the door.
After a while, a middle-aged woman in an apron came out holding a little boy and glanced at Qin Huan and Jiang Jingchu.
"Who are you looking for?"
Qin Huan was a little stunned.
"Excuse me, this is my house. I haven't asked yet, who are you?"
"Your home?"
The middle-aged woman frowned.
"I bought this house two years ago, and now my husband's name is on the deed."
Hearing this, Qin Huan was shocked and took a few steps forward to grab the woman's hand.
"Who sold it to you? This is my grandmother's house. Who has the right to sell it to you?"
The middle-aged woman was confused and frightened by Qin Huan's out-of-control behavior.
"Hey, if you have something to say, just say it nicely and don't use your hands!"
Jiang Jingchu hurriedly pulled Qin Huan back, holding her in his arms, and said to the middle-aged woman,
"I'm sorry, this house did belong to her grandmother before. She's been abroad and hasn't been back. Could you please tell me who sold the house to you?"
The middle-aged woman shook her arm that was hurt by Qin Huan's grip.
"It's not inconvenient at all. The person who sold the house to us is a woman in her fifties named Cao Fang."
Cao Fang.
It’s really her!
Qin Huan's mind went blank at first, and then a strong hatred surged up. She wished she could find Cao Fang right now and question her face to face!
How could she bear to sell the only house that grandma left in the world?
Seeing Qin Huan's ugly face, the middle-aged woman pulled her son back into the house and closed the door tightly.
Jiang Jingchu looked at Qin Huan's out-of-control expression, and a trace of heartache flashed through his heart.
"Let's go. Let's talk in the car."
Qin Huan sat in the car, unable to recover for a long time. She felt as if a rope was tightly strangling her throat, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Grandma is gone, and now, my home is gone too.
She seems to be like this forever, unable to keep anything.
The more Qin Huan thought about it, the more sad she felt. She covered her face with her hands and buried her head deeply.
Jiang Jingchu felt a sharp pain in his heart, opened a bottle of mineral water and handed it to her.
"Have a sip of water first. Don't worry too much about the house. If you really can't bear to part with it, I'll buy it back for you."
When Qin Huan heard these words, she felt as if someone had stabbed her heart with a sharp knife. After a few twists and turns, her eyes ached and she could no longer control her tears.
"Jiang Jingchu, please stop being so nice to me, okay? I don't deserve it. I treated you so badly, this is my retribution, I deserve to lose everything!"
Jiang Jingchu grabbed Qin Huan's waist and pressed her tightly into his arms.
"I'm just a jerk. I just like being nice to you. What's the point of talking about retribution? Do you really think you're a god?"
Qin Huan cried so hard that she couldn't make a sound, while pushing Jiang Jingchu hard.
"Can you please leave? Really? I beg you. I don't want you to buy back the house. It should have been gone five years ago. Because of you, I stayed for a few more years. I'm content."
Jiang Jingchu frowned when he heard her talking about this and that, words he couldn't understand. Without time to investigate further, he hugged Qin Huan tightly in his arms to stop her from struggling.
"Where do you want me to go? I'm already at my doorstep. If I don't go to pay my respects to my grandmother, she'll definitely be mad at me."
When Qin Huan heard Jiang Jingchu talking about her grandmother, her excitement finally subsided a little. She lay on Jiang Jingchu's chest and cried quietly.
The tears were hot at first, wetting Jiang Jingchu's clothes, but soon became cold.
Jiang Jingchu hugged Qin Huan tighter, and put his lips on the top of her head.
"Who says you can't keep anything? As long as you want, I can always be by your side."
Qin Huan's hand holding Jiang Jingchu trembled, and she felt that her whole body and soul were shaking because of Jiang Jingchu's words.
I finally took this opportunity to ask the question that I had been too embarrassed to ask.
"Jiang Jingchu, don't you really hate me?"
"Hate it, why not hate it?"
Jiang Jingchu's throat rolled, and his tone was casual and frivolous.
"For all these years, I have relied on my hatred for you to sustain me until now."
Qin Huan closed her eyes tightly, and two lines of tears flowed out from her eyelashes.
I heard Jiang Jingchu chuckle above my head.
"It's a pity that hating you has caused me so much pain. I've been feeling that pain and sleepless nights for five years. I've had enough, really."
"So, Qin Huan, I'm asking you one last time. Do you want to try again with me and rescue me?"
Qin Huan felt as if her heart had been hit hard by a fist, causing a dull pain. The words of rejection circled around her tongue for a few times, but she could no longer say them as easily as before.
Jiang Jingchu didn't hear Qin Huan's answer for a while, but she didn't refuse immediately, which was beyond his expectation. He rubbed Qin Huan's head and
"Qin Huan, I won't force you. Think about it carefully and tell me the answer after Han Xian and Zhou Tiantian's wedding."
While Qin Huan was sorting herself out, Jiang Jingchu went to buy some things for worship.
The two drove to the cemetery in Mingxi Town.
There are a lot of weeds growing in front of grandma's grave, and there is thick dust on the tombstone.
Qin Huan felt a pang of pain in her heart, and she knelt down and wiped it bit by bit with a rag.
When the photo of her grandmother was completely revealed and Qin Huan saw the kind face of the old lady, she finally couldn't hold back her tears.
"Grandma, I've only come to see you after so many years. Will you blame me?"
Jiang Jingchu knelt down and placed a bunch of flowers in front of the tombstone. When he saw the old lady's photo,
"Grandma, I'm Jiang Jingchu, do you still remember me?"
There were still tears on Qin Huan's chin.
"Grandma said your name several times before she left."
Jiang Jingchu felt a little upset when he recalled the old lady pulling him to show off to the neighbors that he was her grandson-in-law.
"When grandma passed away, we hadn't completely broken up yet. Why didn't you tell me?"
Qin Huan didn't know how to explain to Jiang Jingchu.
"During that time, I was quite confused, and the incident happened so suddenly, so..."
"Qin Huan, I remember you said last time that grandma died of illness. What illness was it?"
Qin Huan didn't expect Jiang Jingchu to ask this suddenly, and she was at a loss for words.
"It's something about the heart. It's been so long, I can't remember clearly."
Jiang Jingchu lowered his eyes, and his thick eyelashes cast a row of dark shadows on his eyelids.
"Can you be honest in front of grandma?"
After he finished speaking, he looked up at Qin Huan with a straight gaze.
"Or, let me ask this a different way. Qin Huan, was there any reason why you broke up with me five years ago?"
