Chapter 45 She's my wife!
"Madam, you're back so early today."
Back at West Nine Yue, Aunt Cui greeted her.
Shi Yang nodded, went upstairs to get her suitcase, and started packing her clothes.
Ten minutes later.
Shi Yang came downstairs carrying her suitcase.
Aunt Cui paused in her chores: "Are you going out?"
"Aunt Cui, I have to go on a business trip for a few days. Goodbye."
"Oh? So suddenly? You're leaving today? Have you told your husband?"
Aunt Cui asked a normal question.
Shi Yang felt a strange sting in her ears upon hearing this, and she said in a calm tone, "I can go out whenever I want, I don't need to report everything to him."
Aunt Cui was clearly taken aback.
Realizing that he had overreacted, Shi Yang whispered "sorry" and left.
She took a taxi to the airport.
There is only one direct flight from Beijing to Rongcheng today, departing in just one hour.
Time was tight. When they arrived at the airport, Xiaoyan was already waiting for her. The two of them ran all the way with their suitcases.
After checking in, going through security, and successfully boarding the plane, I was finally able to catch my breath.
She didn't realize it until the plane ascended into the clouds.
Business trips and such are just excuses.
She just didn't want to face him.
She didn't know what to say when she saw him.
So she ran away.
She knew that everything needed to be resolved. She would give herself a few days to cool off, and when she returned, she would have a proper talk with him.
She also remembered saying when they first got married that she could accept him having other women. But after things happened, she realized she couldn't be as nonchalant as she had been when she said that.
She attributed all of this to the fact that the essence of marriage is fidelity, so even if there is no love between them, they cannot cheat; once they cheat, the nature of the marriage changes.
...
This kept me busy all afternoon.
When Ji Peiheng looked up, the sky had been dyed a large area of red. The intense red, from dark to light, blurred the white clouds, like a richly colored ink painting.
The fiery red sunset seemed reluctant to let its light fade away, burning with all its might for the last moment of its brilliance.
Ji Peiheng took out his phone, snapped a picture, and sent it to the chat box pinned to "Wife".
The sunset was beautiful.
Then wait quietly for a reply.
He swiped up on the chat box, and the page immediately reached the top.
Since they got married, they have barely spoken to each other.
"President Ji, the eldest son has arrived."
Ji Peiheng flipped his phone screen face down on the table: "Come in."
Ji Jinyu entered the office: "These documents need to be signed."
Ji Peiheng unscrewed the pen and signed his name in a flourish in the lower right corner.
The documents have been signed, but Ji Jinyu hasn't left yet.
He stared intently at the person opposite him. He seemed like a noble young master sitting on a cloud. The afterglow of the setting sun shone through the window from the horizon, and the golden light fell on his eyebrows and eyes, making his refined and otherworldly temperament even more prominent.
He knew that his younger brother had always been outstanding and perfect, from childhood to adulthood.
Without a doubt, he is the perfect heir to the family business.
He is proud and unruly, yet possesses the ability to rival him.
I have a gentle personality and dislike the fleeting fame and fortune of the business world.
His father often scolded him for being indecisive and incapable of shouldering great responsibilities.
He didn't care. To him, it was something to be proud of that his younger brother inherited the family and led it to its peak.
He was proud of his younger brother.
Moreover, although his younger brother was outstanding from a young age, his parents and family did not show favoritism. Everything was fair between him and his brother, and he did not feel wronged or mistreated at all.
So they've had a good relationship since they were little.
But at some point, their relationship seemed to have become distant. Upon closer examination, it seems that after Ji Peiheng was released from prison, the brothers suddenly became estranged.
At first, he didn't pay much attention, thinking that the spirited young man had been discouraged and would recover.
Later, Ji Peiheng went abroad and never returned. During holidays, he would only exchange a few simple greetings.
Having served time in prison as the future family heir, his father was greatly disappointed. Therefore, during the years Ji Peiheng was abroad, he was thoroughly groomed as the heir.
As it turned out, he was indeed not as good as his younger brother.
Just as he expected, the boy was not defeated. After going abroad, he shone brightly and made a name for himself.
Later, at his engagement party with Shi Yang,
Just when he thought he wouldn't come back, he did.
He became more free-spirited and unrestrained, and also more powerful.
He stood below the stage and said with a very calm expression, "Congratulations, brother."
After that, their relationship became even more distant.
Until recently, when Shi Yue returned, he called off the engagement.
The task of marrying Shi Yang fell to Ji Peiheng.
Everyone thought he wouldn't agree, and so did he.
To everyone's surprise, Ji Peiheng agreed.
However, he was not good to Shi Yang. He did not publicly acknowledge Shi Yang, and besides, his first love had returned.
Ji Jinyu felt that if he married someone, he had to take responsibility. Although he had no feelings for Shi Yang, he didn't want to see Shi Yang suffer by his side.
Seeing that he hadn't left and seemed lost in thought, Ji Peiheng asked, "Is there anything else?"
He seemed to have made a tremendous decision, and slowly said, "Pei Heng, let's get a divorce."
The air froze instantly upon hearing this.
Liao Nan raised her eyes in disbelief. What was this young master suddenly going crazy about?
How come he always manages to say something surprising?
Ji Peiheng's expression remained unchanged, but the knuckles gripping the pen tightened. He lifted his eyelids, creating a shallow crease: "What are you saying, brother?"
Ji Jinyu said earnestly, "I've heard about what happened between you and that Miss Chu. Since you have someone in your heart, let Yangyang go. I know you're proud. You felt humiliated that the marriage that was originally mine fell into your hands, which is why you agreed to the marriage. But you don't love her at all. Stop torturing her."
Ji Peiheng lowered his eyelids, concealing the shadows beneath his eyes, and asked in a low voice, "Brother, by what right do you speak like this?"
Ji Jinyu was momentarily stunned; he didn't know either.
He paused for a moment, then said, "Brother."
Ji Peiheng raised his eyes again, his eyes icy cold, like the chilling moonlight reflecting on a cold winter lake. But he smiled and said, "Brother, you are the elder brother, and I am her husband. Don't say such things again. Brother, just stay in your position and do what you should do."
The last few words were spoken with great emphasis.
Ji Jinyu frowned: "But..."
Ji Peiheng interrupted: "She's my wife!"
Ji Jinyu was stunned.
Liao Nan felt a headache coming on. What was the young master doing?
Since President Ji said that, he was reminding you of your position. As the elder brother, is it appropriate for you to meddle in your younger brother and sister-in-law's affairs?
"Young Master, the administrative department just needs to confirm an account with you. Could you please take a look?"
Ji Jinyu knew that Liao Nan was trying to help him out of a difficult situation.
Seeing Ji Peiheng's unyielding attitude, he knew that further words would be useless, and sighed, "Fine."
