Chapter 24: How capable is he? Is he strong?
Lu gently stroked his chin, grinning lewdly: "When I called you, you were so confused you couldn't explain yourself clearly. I thought something had happened to you, so I had to come and visit you in person. Um... I also witnessed your battle yesterday."
"By the way, how capable is he? Is he strong?"
Shi Yang's face turned bright red, wishing she could disappear on the spot: "What nonsense are you talking about? I didn't."
"Don't try to hide it like that. Don't tell me that thing in the trash can is something you used to blow up balloons when you had nothing better to do," Lu Qingqing bluntly exposed.
Seeing her so embarrassed, Lu Qingqing burst into laughter, laughing so hard she could hardly breathe.
"So you must have really liked the surprise I gave you last time, right? Haha, is that enough? If not, I'll send you some more."
Shi Yang gradually calmed down and went into the bathroom after lifting the covers.
Standing naked in front of the mirror, she gasped when she saw the marks on her body.
No wonder she slept until now, Ji Peiheng is too crazy.
She was so tired last night that she could barely keep her eyes open. She only remembered letting him knead and fondle her, and she didn't even know when it ended.
The hot water relieved the soreness in her body.
As she emerged from the bathroom, Lu Qingqing was sitting with her legs crossed, eating the fruit and desserts that Aunt Cui had brought her.
When did you get back?
"I came to see you as soon as I arrived this morning." Lu gently ate a grape, her eyes still showing some fatigue.
Shi Yang poured the skincare product into her palm and slowly spread it evenly on her body: "Why don't you go home? You're probably not here for anything good."
Having been seen through, Lu chuckled softly, "I don't want to go home."
While drying her hair, Shi Yang asked, "What happened?"
Lu Qingqing said with a hint of resentment, "My parents are going too far. They're forcing me to go on blind dates. Now, every time I go back home, they drag me to blind dates."
Shi Yang knew that Lu Qingqing had no plans to settle down and start a family; her biggest dream was to become a war correspondent.
Starting a family and building a career would hold her back.
"They also want you to settle down as soon as possible."
Lu sighed softly, "Of course I know. But I also know what I want to do, and I hope they can support me."
She became somewhat sad as she spoke: "Actually, I know that they have always opposed my dreams and can't wait to make me get married and have a child so that they can completely give up on my dreams."
Shi Yang patted her shoulder to comfort her, "Go back and talk to them properly."
Her tone held a hint of envy.
Sometimes, when she saw Lu Qingqing arguing with her parents, she was actually quite envious.
For her, being able to be looked after by her parents was actually a very happy thing.
I still remember that whether she was preparing to marry Ji Jinyu or Ji Peiheng, Song Zhihua remained indifferent, without any expression. She wouldn't offer any advice or suggestions, as if the person marrying her wasn't her daughter at all.
Only when facing Shi Yue do they show the same care, anxiety, and worry as ordinary parents.
Five years ago, when Shi Yue insisted on getting married, she heard them arguing fiercely. Song Zhihua was so angry that he was hospitalized several times.
Shi Bin raised his hand several times, but he couldn't bring himself to touch Shi Yue's face.
Even though they knew Shi Yue was not going to marry a good man, they had no choice but to compromise for the sake of their daughter.
Later, Shi Yang caught Song Zhihua secretly crying in Shi Yue's bedroom several times.
And these emotions, Song Zhihua will never have for her.
In fact, she had doubted more than once whether she was their biological child. Otherwise, why would they be so cruel? Even after what happened when she was seven years old, they covered up the truth to protect Shi Yue. Over the years, it seemed that everyone except her had forgotten her.
Ironically, she did undergo a paternity test, and the cold, hard numbers showed that she was indeed Song Zhihua's daughter.
There are few parents in the world who don't love their daughters, and she happens to be one of them.
Lu Qingqing keenly sensed the sadness in her expression and guessed that she must have been thinking about something unpleasant, so she immediately changed the subject: "I'm starving. You don't mind if I mooch a meal at your place, do you?"
Shi Yang snapped out of her daze and smiled gently: "Aunt Cui cooks very well, you should try it."
Aunt Cui had prepared the dishes long ago, just in case Shi Yang was hungry after waking up.
The deer ate ravenously, as if it hadn't eaten for days.
While eating, she complained, "You have no idea what kind of hard life I've been living out there. I've even lost weight."
Aunt Cui said with a smile, "Miss Lu has a good appetite, unlike Madam, who has a small stomach and gets full after just a few bites."
She served Shi Yang a bowl of soup: "Madam, you must eat more. It would be best if you gained some weight in the next few days so I can explain things to my husband when he comes back."
Shi Yang was taken aback and asked, "Ji Peiheng isn't here? Where did he go?"
"You didn't know?" Aunt Cui was somewhat taken aback: "The master went on a business trip early this morning."
Shi Yang stirred the fragrant chicken soup. In her hazy memory, she seemed to recall him saying something like, "I have to go on a business trip for a few days," near the end of yesterday's meal.
She was just too tired at the time, so the matter went in one ear and out the other, and she had long forgotten about it.
No wonder he was giving him so much trouble; it turns out he's going on a business trip.
Lu Qingqing was overjoyed: "Great! Ji Peiheng isn't here, you're mine today, I want to sleep with you."
The two best friends have endless topics to talk about whenever they meet.
Lu gently recounted what she had seen and heard outside, and Shi Yang listened with great interest.
"If all goes well, I may be able to successfully transition into a war correspondent by the end of this year."
"That's wonderful." Shi Yang was genuinely happy for her.
"Alright, alright, I'm tired of talking. Tell me about you, how's your married life? Mrs. Ji..." Lu blinked gently, "Judging from how harmonious your married life is, it must be pretty good."
Shi Yang turned over and lay flat on the bed, carefully recalling her life since getting married: "It seems... not bad."
Lu Qingqing propped her head up with one wrist and asked curiously, "By the way, your husband is away on a business trip, don't you need to call and check on him?"
Shi Yang looked at her with some confusion: "Do we still need to make a phone call?"
She had no idea at all.
Lu gently sat up and nudged her, saying, "You and Ji Peiheng are husband and wife. As his wife, isn't it your basic duty to call and offer your condolences?"
It seems that in all the time they've been married, she has never called him, and neither has he.
"No need, what if he's busy?" Shi Yang felt uncomfortable.
Besides, he just left, and you're already calling now? That's too dramatic.
Lu leaned closer with a hint of suspicion, scrutinizing her closely: "I understand."
"What?"
“You really don’t like Ji Peiheng. If you like someone, you’ll miss them and can’t help but call them.” Lu Qingqing spoke eloquently, then sighed, “But then again, it’s a marriage between wealthy families, what feelings can there be?”
As the people around her spoke, their voices grew softer and their breathing became more even. Lu Qingqing had already drifted off into a sweet dream.
Shi Yang tossed and turned, his mind filled with Lu Qingqing's words.
Their marriage was merely an arranged marriage within a wealthy family; they were both forced into it.
Does she need to call her husband who is away from home like a normal wife would?
Ji Peiheng probably doesn't care about her call.
The bright moon shines outside the window, filling the room with its gentle light.
Shi Yang got out of bed and stood on the balcony.
After admiring the moon for a while and spacing out, I dialed Ji Peiheng's number.
