Chapter 2 Reasons for Interrupting the Surgery

The metallic sound of wheels turning grew increasingly urgent down the corridor. A nurse shouted at the top of her lungs, "Quick, quick, surgery immediately!"

Gan Tang, who had just escaped death, was pushed into the operating room like meat on a chopping board before she could even react.

Because it was an unexpected situation, the people in the operating room were a bit flustered. Four burly men held down Gan Tang's thin limbs, and the fat man, who had just been angered, pressed down on her left shoulder, especially hard.

The anesthesiologist held up the syringe and carefully adjusted the dosage of the anesthetic.

Gan Tang, who could only move her head, saw two people lying on the operating table, a man and a woman, just like herself. They lay quietly on the operating table, much like herself after being injected with anesthesia.

The only difference is that she is the youngest one.

Fu Shaojie looked at the soundproof wall of the operating room, unable to hide his anxiety. His father was being resuscitated inside. If his father died, he would have nothing left.

"The matching results aren't back yet. What if the heart doesn't match?"

"Mr. Fu's condition has worsened, and he needs surgery immediately." The anesthesiologist tried his best to calm Fu Shaojie down. "It is our duty as doctors to treat and save lives, and we will do everything we can to save Mr. Fu's life!"

Gan Tang listened to their conversation and felt utterly ironic.

It's not that she doesn't want to contribute to a great cause.

But that was his own heart, his only heart.

On what grounds?

Am I not a human being?

As the syringe drew closer, Gan Tang roared with all her might, "I am Lu Zhengqian's daughter! Who dares to touch me?"

The syringe stopped in mid-air.

Fu Shaojie turned to look at Gan Tang, asking incredulously, "Whose daughter are you?"

"Lu Zhengqian, President of the Lu Group!"

Lu Zhengqian is one of the world's top 100 richest people. He built a magnificent business empire from scratch and is a role model for countless young people.

Fu Shaojie sneered: "It's all online; he doesn't have a daughter!"

Gan Tang blushed: "Is a daughter born out of wedlock not acceptable?"

Perhaps it was because he was about to die, but this roar was earth-shattering, and everyone stopped what they were doing. The echo could still be faintly heard in the empty operating room.

A nurse entered with a matching report, breaking the silence in the room.

"The matching results are in, and they're a perfect match. However, the man has some heart problems and isn't a suitable candidate for transplantation."

Before the nurse could finish speaking, a gunshot rang out. The unconscious man's brains splattered, wetting Gan Tang's face and landing on the white shoes of the man who had just pushed open the door.

Fu Shaojie's eyes turned cold: "What are you doing here?"

Mo Huaixing tilted his head slightly: "They are trying to save Mr. Fu next door, and his condition is unclear. President Cheng said to wait here first, since he won't survive long after his heart is removed."

Fu Shaojie raised the hot muzzle of the gun and slowly blew the white smoke that was emanating towards Mo Huaixing's face.

You dare to order me around?

"continue!"

The four burly men once again tightly restrained Gan Tang. Gan Tang roared again, "My father is Lu Zhengqian! If any of you dare to touch me, he will kill you all!"

The anesthetic was slowly injected into her flesh. As her consciousness gradually blurred, Gan Tang saw a blurry figure blocking her way, tall and imposing.

Is it hope?

As time flows by, even a cruise ship, which is so large in the human world, is just a small boat on the sea, tossed about by the waves.

His brain matter splattered and churned like ocean waves, unable to return to its proper place. But at least it proved he was still alive. Gan Tang opened her eyes and was greeted by an unfamiliar room. The layout was the same as the room that had imprisoned her, except the walls were bare and the curtains had changed from white to black.

Suppressed yet calm.

A man sat on the balcony, gazing at the boundless sea. Hearing a noise from inside, he flicked the unlit cigarette in his hand, then remained motionless like a statue.

Did he save me?

Gan Tang curled up at the head of the bed, looking at the somewhat familiar back view, feeling a little moved.

"Go ahead and smoke, I'm fine!"

Mo Huaixing hummed in agreement, but did not light the fire. He said in a low voice, "Mr. Fu will see you when he wakes up."

Why do I need to see myself?

Did my lie work?

But since it was a lie, it would eventually be exposed. Gan Tang's body, which had just warmed up, turned cold again.

She couldn't understand why, if she was destined to die, she would keep giving herself hope.

An empty porcelain teacup sat on the bedside table. Gan Tang held it in her hand and quietly walked towards Mo Huaixing.

"This is at sea!"

With just one word, Gan Tang's legs went weak, and she collapsed to her knees behind him. Before the French windows, the rolling waves mocked her foolishness.

Would you like some water?

Gan Tang knelt on the ground, holding a teacup, her clothes disheveled. He glanced down and saw her bare chest exposed.

Mo Huaixing turned his head and coughed lightly: "There are clothes on the table."

"Hmm... okay!"

Gan Tang hurriedly dropped his teacup and fled.

On the table was a large white shirt and a pair of black sweatpants. Clearly, they belonged to the room's owner.

In all her life, Gan Tang had never shared a piece of clothing with a man, not even her boyfriend.

But now she had no choice. Her dress was torn open, stained with blood, and smelled faintly of decay.

Gan Tang picked up her clothes and went into the bathroom. The bathroom had frosted glass, so although you couldn't see people clearly from the outside, you could still make out their outlines.

As she hesitated, the balcony curtains were drawn. The black curtains perfectly separated the two of them.

The sound of rushing water filled the air. A short while later, Gan Tang emerged, having changed her clothes. Not knowing where to go, her eyes fell upon a shoulder bag on the table.
