"I'm not wearing it anymore. You've seen it before." Mo Huaixing smirked shamelessly. "I'll have to take it off anyway, too much trouble."
"Mo Huaixing!" Gan Tang's face flushed red as she emphasized sharply, "I've come to see you because I really have something to say."
Mo Huaixing feigned ignorance, "Don't you take your clothes off when you sleep? Is there a problem?"
Gan Tang finally understood why the company didn't allow office romances—it was a huge hindrance. With a "plop," she picked up her cup and splashed it on that arrogant man's face, then, clutching the remaining half-cup of water, sat down on the sofa to the side.
"It's hot!" someone complained, sounding aggrieved.
How hot could water be if it's drinkable? Ignoring his pretense, Gan Tang got to the point: "I just heard Dad ask Big Brother about things before you came to the Green Dragon Gang."
Mo Huaixing glanced at the doorway, then pulled Gan Tang into the bedroom. "He's always been cautious. It's reasonable for him to ask questions before giving me any important responsibilities."
“This time is different. Before, he would never try to hide anything from me. But this time, it’s obvious he doesn’t want me to know.”
At this point, Gan Tang recalled the sudden coldness on his face when he used binoculars on the lifeboat, and hurriedly told Mo Huaixing, "But when I looked, you had already rescued Fu Cheng. Why was he unhappy?"
Mo Huaixing's expression suddenly changed, and he looked at Gan Tang with a hesitant expression, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't.
"What's wrong?" Gan Tang asked anxiously, cupping Mo Huaixing's face in her hands and looking him straight in the eye. "Mo Huaixing, you can't hide anything from me."
"Gan Tang." Mo Huaixing took her hand away and gently kneaded it. "I think I might be a suspect."
"What do you suspect me of?" Gan Tang asked anxiously. "But the drugs haven't even hit the market yet, have they?"
“It wasn’t Dr. An’s fault,” Mo Huaixing explained. “When I was fighting with Yu Dayong, he suddenly lunged at my elder brother, and I instinctively grabbed his neck. That move was a technique from the military and police boxing style.”
Gan Tang asked, puzzled, "If it's a military and police force, how did he know?"
Mo Huaixing guessed, "When he was young, he fought against my father and others many times, so it's normal that he knows about it."
"How can you police officers be so lazy? Haven't you improved the things you've been teaching for decades?"
Tears streamed down Gan Tang's cheeks. Mo Huaixing reached out to wipe them away for her. "The art of fighting for one's life only has a few key points, and they won't change for decades, not even hundreds or thousands of years. But you don't need to worry too much. Knowing military and police boxing doesn't mean you're a policeman. Just give him a reasonable explanation."
Gan Tang was still shaken: "He wouldn't let me hear it. Does he suspect me?"
Mo Huaixing shook his head. "It's not that we suspect you right now. We're probably worried that you'll leak information because you've been getting close to me. Keep your distance from me these days."
"Why are you keeping your distance? What are you trying to do?"
She looked just like a frightened bird. Mo Huaixing carried her to the bed and gently comforted her, "Don't do anything. Keep your distance from me so you can hear more news."
I don't know if that's true or not.
Gan Tang leaned against him and asked, "Didn't you find out where Lu Zhengqian hid the evidence of his money laundering? I'll go steal it and we'll leave here."
She really didn't want to stay here for even a second longer.
"Gan Tang, don't be impulsive." Mo Huaixing hugged the person in his arms tightly. "He wouldn't let anyone get something so important so easily."
Gan Tang added, "No need to steal, I have some too. He taught me how to launder money a few days ago."
"Where did the money come from?" he asked.
Gan Tang couldn't answer. She only saw how the money was laundered, but didn't know where it came from. "It certainly didn't come from legitimate sources. But if there's evidence of money laundering, an investigation can be launched."
Mo Huaixing gently stroked her hair, "Don't worry. Lu Zhengqian is now an influential entrepreneur. It's impossible for the Lu Group's foundation to be shaken by one or two money laundering incidents."
"You can't do this, you can't do that, then tell me, what can we do?" Gan Tang shouted anxiously, but even when she shouted angrily, she kept her voice down.
“Yes, you’re right.” Gan Tang suddenly realized an even more serious problem. “Don’t touch the drugs that Dr. An has developed. If you don’t do anything about something this big, his suspicions about you will naturally dissipate over time.”
Gan Tang became more and more certain as she spoke: "Don't worry about what Lu Zhengqian is doing anymore. Now that we know where the evidence of his money laundering is hidden, we just need to find a way to get it. There will always be an opportunity. Don't worry about anything else."
He had only seen Gan Tang so flustered once before, when her parents were in danger. He longed to know if she cared about him, but seeing that she truly cared for him made his heart ache as if it were being torn apart.
"Okay!" he replied softly.
Gan Tang froze, staring blankly at him. Suddenly, she burst into tears, crying, "You lied to me! You lied to me again!"
The two sat leaning against the headboard. Mo Huaixing laid Gan Tang down on the bed, leaned over and kissed her passionately until she collapsed onto the bed, unable to utter a complete word.
"Gan Tang!" Mo Huaixing wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes again, his voice choked with emotion, "People like us shouldn't get married and have children. I couldn't help myself and ruined your life."
What kind of talk was this? Gan Tang felt uncomfortable listening to it. The consequences would be unimaginable if those new drugs entered the market. How could he not stop them?
"Mo Huaixing, don't be angry. I won't say anything more, I'll never give you orders again." Gan Tang hugged him tightly, her voice trembling: "I'll listen to whatever you want to do, don't think I'm stupid and keep it from me."
“How could my Tangbao be stupid! You are the smartest girl I have ever met.” Mo Huaixing comforted her with a smile.
Gan Tang didn't believe her: "You're lying to me again."
Mo Huaixing gently pinched her cheek and sighed, "Really, it took me twenty years to get to Fu Yuanshan's side, but you did it so easily."
"That's all because you helped me." Gan Tang wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You have to be good at it yourself first." Mo Huaixing kissed him without ceremony, coaxing, "You really are a lucky charm. You could come up with such a ridiculous idea, and the key is that you just happened to guess the right person. With you here, I'm sure I'll turn bad luck into good, so don't cry, okay?"
At this point, Gan Tang sat up and asked him, "How did you manage to hide the paternity test from Lu Zhengqian back then?"
Mo Huaixing plucked a stray hair from her temple.
"Ouch!" Gan Tang slapped his hand in dissatisfaction.
Mo Huaixing clenched his fist, then unfolded it; his hair was gone.
"Where did you go?" Gan Tang stared at his hands.
Mo Huaixing clenched her fist again, then opened it once more, revealing a short hair in her palm. Her sideburns were fine and slightly yellow. But this one was thick and black.
