Chapter 34 Becoming the Boss's Boss

The written information is not complicated; occasionally there may be complex terms and charts, but you can understand them by consulting the relevant materials.

Gan Tang thought she understood everything, until Lu Zhengqian analyzed it for her one by one, and she realized there was more to it than met the eye. Coupled with Lu Zhengqian's impassioned voice, it made everyone's blood boil.

In that instant, she even forgot how she had met him. Just like before, she regarded him as her mentor in life—no, even more so than a mentor.

"Did you understand?" Lu Zhengqian asked, staring at the stunned Gan Tang.

"I understand!" Seeing that he had been talking for so long, Gan Tang got up and poured him some warm water.

Ali reached out and blocked the paper cup that Gan Tang was offering.

"It's alright!" Lu Zhengqian told Ali to stand further away and reached out to take it.

"It's better to be careful." Gan Tang suddenly came to her senses, poured the water from the paper cup into another cup, took a sip, and said with a smile, "It's not hot."

He then handed the remaining half-glass of water to Lu Zhengqian.

Lu Zhengqian poured the water from his paper cup into the paper cup that Gan Tang had drunk from, and then picked it up and drank from it.

He wanted to quickly bridge the gap with his daughter and help her forget the unpleasantness of the past.

After finishing his water, Lu Zhengqian instructed Ali to put the documents on the table and continued, "Now that you understand, Dad is giving you your first job: acquire these three companies at the lowest possible price."

Gan Tang stared in disbelief at the information of the three companies: all three were companies where she had worked.

Why these three companies?

Lu Zhengqian did not answer. After he left Gantang's office, the acquisition plan for the three companies was officially put on the agenda.

Gan Tang's first job was at an e-commerce company that specialized in selling counterfeit goods, which led to her resignation. Now, Gan Tang has cut off the company's entire supply chain, and overnight, the online store has completely collapsed.

She acquired the company for ten times less than the market price.

Gan Tang's second job was at a manufacturing company. Due to poor sales, the company frequently experienced cash flow problems. As a result, after being owed six months' salary, Gan Tang resigned. After leaving, her salary remained unpaid. Only after arbitration did she discover that the company's account had no money at all; the funds were held in other accounts. She still hasn't received her six months' salary.

Gan Tang used a 200,000 yuan deposit to reserve goods worth 30 million yuan. The company took out loans to produce in large quantities, but when it came time to deliver the products, the buyer disappeared without a trace, and the company went bankrupt instantly. The boss's factory and real estate were seized by the bank.

Gan Tang then secretly used 200,000 yuan to buy the company's only valuable patent. The boss then fled abroad with his wife and children, taking with him the remaining few hundred thousand yuan.

Before leaving the country, Gan Tang even went to the airport to see how pathetic they were as they fled. Her only regret was that she didn't tell her boss in front of him that the reason they ended up like this was because he hadn't paid her for six months.

Gan Tang's third job was at an advertising agency, a company whose very name infuriated her. If the first two companies were the fault of their bosses, then this company was a case of the boss and employees ganging up on her.

Worried that frequent job changes would leave her unable to find work, and also because she was owed wages, she had no money at all. So, no matter how much she was ridiculed by her colleagues, had her performance targets stolen, was scolded by her boss, worked overtime without reason, or had her wages deducted, Gan Tang endured it all and dared not quit.

However, advertising companies are different from manufacturing companies. Even if they cut off all their clients, they won't die out in the short term because of their low operating costs.

Gan Tang thought for a long time but couldn't come up with a good solution that would work immediately, so she went to ask Lu Zhengqian for advice.

Lu Zhengqian only said one word: "Pay up".

Gan Tang suddenly realized what was going on and personally delivered a large order to her former boss—a marketing plan for a well-known cosmetics brand. The contract stated that if improper marketing seriously damaged the brand image and caused a significant drop in brand value, the company would face huge claims.

It's not difficult to cause a major marketing disaster; all it takes is changing a few words in the promotional copy. The key is who can act as an inside man.

This is not a business-ethical practice.

"Tsk!" Gan Tang was standing outside the third company building when she was suddenly bumped into and almost fell.

Lu Jiao swayed gracefully as she jogged to the roadside, opened the car door with a smile, and greeted a man in his forties or fifties as he walked towards the company.

Memories flooded back, and Gan Tang looked coldly at Lü Jiao, "It's you!"

Three days later, at the brand's new product launch, the promotional copy contained serious issues of discrimination against women. Gantang, with a marketing budget of only 100,000 yuan, managed to get the topic to the top of the trending search list, and the brand's stock price plummeted overnight.

The brand terminated its contract with the advertising agency and sued, demanding 80 million yuan in damages. Unable to bear the burden, the advertising agency had no choice but to transfer its company to the brand, which turned out to be a small, newly established company by Gan Tang. She acquired this company that had once bullied her without spending a single penny.

On the day of the acquisition, Gan Tang specially wore a bright red trench coat and came to the company in person.

The boss stood listlessly at the conference room door, his face weary but he had to force a smile as he welcomed Gan Tang inside.

The meeting room was packed with employees, all standing against the walls, heads bowed, holding their breath, afraid to make a sound. The company had made such a basic mistake; they wouldn't be able to find good jobs if they left. The higher their position, the greater the impact. Therefore, they all hoped the new boss would keep them, except for Lü Jiao.

Feeling smug about her accomplishment, Lü Jiao looked at everyone with a proud expression and gave orders: "What are you dawdling for? President Tang's time is very precious. Hurry up and put up your resumes."

A stack of resumes fell into Lü Jiao's hands with a clatter.

Lü Jiao, holding her resume, walked towards Gan Tang like a triumphant warrior. Two people stood on either side of Gan Tang: Mo Huaixing and Yuan Biao.

Yuan Biao would cry and beg the young lady to transfer him to the investment department every day, like a little wife who had been abandoned. Gan Tang couldn't stand it anymore and had no choice but to transfer him to the investment department.

She wanted to boost her morale today, so she brought him along as well.

Lü Jiao happened to be on Yuan Biao's side. Yuan Biao stepped forward to block her path, disdainfully poking her aside with his little finger.

Lu Jiao, feeling rebuffed, stood aside dejectedly.

Gan Tang leaned back in her chair and softly called out, "Old Xu!"

In the past, no matter how fierce he was to Gan Tang, she could only endure the grievances and humbly call him President Xu. Now, she felt a little uncomfortable calling him that so freely.

Mr. Xu was also finding it difficult to adapt. In this kingdom he had built from scratch, he was always the one issuing orders and reprimanding others from his superior position. It took him a while to realize that he was being addressed.

"Mr. Tang, what are your instructions?"

"Give me a copy of their monthly salary and performance bonuses. They'll come to your office one by one in a bit—no, to my office," Gan Tang said, standing up.

This time, amidst the envy and fear of her former colleagues and superiors, she walked confidently into President Xu's office. Mo Huaixing and Yuan Biao stood guard outside the door, their faces dark and motionless, like two plague gods.

The employees looked at each other, hesitant to go in first. Yuan Biao urged them on, and a thin young girl was pushed out.

She had no choice but to bite the bullet and go in.
