Chapter 67 Death is Inevitable

"Fortunately, I found out before I stole it!" Gan Tang's eyes were full of tears as she gloated. "After all, I am his biological daughter. As long as I can move him with my motivation to give up, I will pass the test."

Although no one was around and the boss was far away, Mo Huaixing still lowered his voice and asked, "What did he ask you to steal?"

Gan Tang laughed: "Stealing evidence of your evil deeds!"

"Has he gone mad?" After all, they were former boyfriend and girlfriend; Mo Huaixing hadn't expected Cao Yunbo to be so ruthless. If he really stole it, the girl in front of him, even if she were alive, would be living a life worse than death.

"Yes, I think so too!" Gan Tang smiled, propping her chin on her hand. Looking back now, she realized how foolish she had been. Lu Zhengqian would have chased her to the ends of the earth to get something so important back.

Her boyfriend, who claimed to love her with all his heart, left her no way out for the sake of 50 million.

Gan Tang said indifferently, "He's heartless, but I'm not a good person either. To save my own life, I didn't tell him anything. I even deliberately gave him an empty combination lock box so that he would give himself away and let Lu Zhengqian vent all his resentment on him, and then use that to highlight my filial piety."

At this point, Gan Tang looked at Mo Huaixing in a daze and said self-deprecatingly, "Tell me, am I getting worse and worse?"

Mo Huaixing looked directly into her dazed eyes and retorted earnestly, "You are very kind!"

Those who have already been exploited must first protect themselves before they can save others.

In that instant, Gan Tang felt her entire state of mind laid bare by the man before her, a mixture of fear and immense excitement coursing through her. Suppressing the strange feeling within, she smiled to conceal it: "Shanliang, didn't you see I beat him half to death?"

“Not enough!” Mo Huaixing laughed, his serious words turning into a joke: “You’re just too kind. In my opinion, we should send him to a nightclub and make him a gigolo.”

With a "pfft," Gan Tang spat out the beer she was drinking. "Mo Huaixing, you're so mean!"

“Not enough!” Mo Huaixing continued, “They like to mess around, so let’s send that woman in too. One a prostitute, the other a gigolo, a perfect match.”

These words almost made Gan Tang not recognize the serious-looking man in front of her.

Gan Tang leaned closer to look at him, but unexpectedly found herself lying face down on the barbecue table.

Mo Huaixing hurriedly helped her up. Gan Tang clutched his clothes and looked up, "Now, why don't you say I'm abusing my power?"

After saying that, he slumped headfirst onto the table again.

"You have never abused your power, never!"

Her frail body lay sprawled on the square barbecue table, making her appear even smaller. Her long eyelashes were stained with tears, and a gust of wind blew, creating a layer of cool frost.

He draped his coat over Gan Tang and carried her away.

Feeling the warmth, Gan Tang groggily opened her eyes. Before her was a handsome profile, but unsightly, it bore two red, swollen handprints, one deep and one shallow.

"Huh, how come there are two?" Gan Tang traced the lines with her fingers. "Mo Huaixing, I'm sorry, I know you didn't tell me."

"I know! You did it to save me." He had always known that the woman in front of him was smart and kind, but he still underestimated her intelligence and kindness.

But these words greatly displeased Gan Tang. The thought that in such a dangerous and distressing situation, her first thought was for his safety sent a chill down her spine, and she even began to sober up.

But she didn't wake up. She glared angrily at Mo Huaixing and said, "Who wants to save you? I don't like you anyway."

His restless heart calmed down at this moment, yet it was still bleeding uncontrollably. Mo Huaixing looked away and said with a sigh, "I know, what you felt wasn't love, it was conscience."

The girl in his arms was fast asleep, and no one responded. She slept until the sun was high in the sky.

Gan Tang opened her eyes and looked at the familiar room, feeling as if she had been transported to another world. She remembered that she needed to let Chu Jiahe know she was safe, only to realize that she didn't have her phone. She had deliberately left her phone next to Lu Zhengqian last night.

After washing up, Gan Tang went to the restaurant for dinner. When she saw Butler Ding, she reminded him, "Butler Ding, please prepare the car for me!"

Butler Ding said, "Miss, Mr. Lu specifically instructed that you should rest well at home these few days and not go to work."

"I'm not going to work, I'm going to find my dad!"

"Mr. Lu is in his study."

"Huh?" Was her own business not over yet? Gan Tang lost her appetite and forced down a piece of bread before rushing to her study.

In the study, Ali stood in front of the desk and gave a report.

"Mr. Fu, the person we deliberately let go yesterday was indeed from the Pang Group, and he didn't contact Fourth Master! Could it be that Fourth Master really didn't do it?"

Lu Zhengqian asked, "Did you have Cao Yunbo identify him?"

“He identified Yu Hai.” At this point, Ali seemed a little puzzled. “He confessed quite quickly, saying that Yu Hai wanted the Lu Group’s top trade secrets, but when it came to identifying the photo, he hesitated and took a long time to identify it.”

“He’s been pointing for so long because he can’t recognize Yu Hai.” Lu Zhengqian was speechless. But if Ali hadn’t been so simple-minded, he wouldn’t have trusted him so much. He explained, “Yu Dayong is a master of disguise, but even the most convincing disguise can have some discrepancies.”

"Is that still Fourth Master? I'll continue investigating!"

"Stop!" Lu Zhengqian called out to Ali, and said calmly, "Don't investigate anymore. Just assume that the Ponzi Group is behind this."

Now is the most crucial time for the marriage alliance with the Chu Group; the Lu Group cannot afford internal strife.

Lu Zhengqian sighed, "It was my oversight; I pushed my fourth brother too hard. What has Lin Shuang been up to lately?"

He had always known about the spy He Zhong had placed by his side, but he had kept him around to keep He Zhong in check. He never expected that He Zhong would panic so soon after being sidelined for only a few months.
