"Soon." Mo Huaixing's eyes sparkled. Although they had graduated from police academy for many years, the bond between teacher and student and the friendship between classmates had not diminished in the slightest. They were all striving towards their ideals in their respective positions. Although they had never fought side by side, they understood each other even better.
Mo Huaixing rarely spoke so much, "How has work been these past few years?"
"It went fairly smoothly! But..." Fang Heng's face showed a hint of helplessness, "The enemy is not scary, what's scary is that the enemy is inside."
His years of collecting evidence and submitting a crackdown plan were less effective than Mrs. Chu's single experience of being abducted. He felt lost about his work: "If it weren't for this incident, I really wouldn't know how to solve the problem of the human trafficking village."
"It will be alright!"
His words were always brief and powerful.
Although they have graduated from police academy for many years and have learned too much about the darkness and helplessness, and no longer have the youthful vigor they once had, their ideals as young people have never been extinguished.
Fang Heng sighed, "Let's not talk about me anymore. What have you been doing all these years?"
Mo Huaixing lowered his head and remained silent.
"Fine, if you don't want to talk about it, I won't ask." He knew that the man had a special mission, and the fact that he was willing to risk appearing in front of him showed that he trusted him completely.
Fang Heng stopped and asked with a smile, "That girl, is she your girlfriend?"
"Don't talk nonsense!"
"I'm talking nonsense. Look how nervous you were when that girl fainted..."
"Fang Heng!" Mo Huaixing glared at him, interrupting him sharply.
"What, can't I ask about official business, and I can't ask about personal matters either?" Fang Heng complained, but ultimately didn't press the matter further. He pulled out a talisman from his pocket: "Take this, it will protect you."
Mo Huaixing said with disdain, "When did you start liking this kind of thing?"
"I told you to take it, so take it!" Fang Heng slapped Mo Huaixing's palm and waved away.
After Fang Heng walked away, Mo Huaixing went to the hospital's duty room and asked, "Hello, my cell phone is dead. Could I use your landline to make a call?"
"Here you go!" The nurse on duty handed the landline phone out the window.
"Thank you!" Mo Huaixing dialed the number, typed in Morse code as usual, and after receiving a response, asked, "Is there any movement?"
"No!"
"Understood!" Mo Huaixing hung up the phone.
His main reason for suggesting the kidnapping was to expose Lu Zhengqian's mole. With his beloved daughter kidnapped, he could only find her immediately by utilizing the resources he had hidden within the police force.
Unexpectedly, he remained so calm. Of course, Chu Mingxuan loves his wife so much, how could he possibly let things go unchecked?
I was just desperate and tried anything!
In the ward, Madam Chu, accompanied by her son, visited Gan Tang. As soon as she entered, Madam Chu began to sob incessantly, and it took several reminders from Chu Jiahe before she gradually stopped crying.
"It's terrible, it's really terrible."
Following her words, Gan Tang looked at her own injuries and was about to comfort Madam Chu when Madam Chu's sorrowful voice rose again: "Xin Tang, do you still remember the woman who kidnapped us?"
Gan Tang nodded.
Madam Chu continued, "She was actually abducted by that man. At first, she was beaten and had her leg broken when she tried to escape. Later, she gave birth to six children for him, including two daughters. The man disliked the daughters because he thought they would cost money, saying that it was more profitable to abduct them now than to raise them and then sell them. So he made her drown her own daughters. As she was talking to the police, she went insane."
Gan Tang lamented, "I never imagined that the victim would become the perpetrator."
"Yes, I never imagined that wicked woman would suffer so much," Madam Chu remarked with emotion.
At the police station, she talked for a long time with the trafficked women, which is why she came to Gantang so late at night. Now, she couldn't help but share the stories she had heard with the girl who had escaped with her.
Looking at Xintang's haggard and tired face, Chu Jiahe reminded her, "Mom, Xintang is still recovering from her injuries."
Madam Chu then realized that she hadn't inquired about Gan Tang's injuries since she came in. Gan Tang, on the other hand, warmly grasped Madam Chu's hand and smiled, "Auntie, please tell me, I want to hear it."
"Oh!" Madam Chu also felt it was a bit impolite to gossip with a patient, so she decided to keep it short: "Xintang, I want to establish a foundation specifically to combat human traffickers and rescue trafficked women and children."
Gan Tang never expected that after being rescued, her first thought would be of all the people who have been trafficked around the world. She felt ashamed of herself and sincerely exclaimed, "Auntie, you are such a kind person!"
Madam Chu, with the shy charm of a young girl, said, "However, I don't know much about how to run a foundation. So, I would like to ask you to help me manage the foundation. I wonder if you have the time?"
What a great opportunity!
Mo Huaixing had just said he wanted to show the Chu family his business acumen, and the opportunity presented itself. Gan Tang excitedly replied, "Yes, there is time. As long as Auntie doesn't mind, there's plenty of time."
After saying that, a hint of disdain flashed through Gan Tang's mind—disdain for herself. She hadn't expected that when he heard about establishing a foundation, his first thought wasn't about helping people, but about how it would benefit him.
Footsteps echoed in the corridor. Mo Huaixing took two steps ahead, pushed open the door, and saw Chairman Chu and Lu Zhengqian walking anxiously into the ward one after the other.
"Mingxuan!"
Upon seeing her husband, Madam Chu threw herself into his arms, sobbing as she poured out her grievances: "Mingxuan, I was locked up with chickens, and they still pecked at me."
As she spoke, she raised her arm for her husband to see. There were several red marks on her arm from chickens pecking at her.
Chu Mingxuan gripped his wife's arm, veins bulging, and ordered, "Kill all the chickens!"
Madam Chu patted her husband's chest in dissatisfaction, "What does this have to do with chickens?"
Seeing his wife standing safely in front of him, Chu Mingxuan gradually calmed down and asked his son, "Jiahe, have all the people been arrested?"
