The basement was dark and damp.
Mo Huaixing threw the man against a moldy pillar and asked, "Which mountain are you from?"
"None of your business," the bearded man said, turning to run away.
Mo Huaixing kicked him to the ground. "I risked my life to let you escape, and you're acting like a bastard. If you don't talk, I'll throw you out right now."
"I, I am Mr. Fu's man... Ouch..." Before he could finish speaking, the bearded man cried out in pain.
Mo Huaixing stepped on his thigh, gradually increasing the pressure. The bearded man grimaced in pain.
If his leg was broken, he really wouldn't be able to escape. Panic finally appeared in his eyes: "Who are you?"
"I'm asking you."
The bearded man stammered, "I'm one of Master Pang's men."
"So it was Pang Shanhu." Mo Huaixing lifted his foot. Among those drugs, one packet was unopened, with a tiger's head drawn on it, which was Pang's unique symbol.
“Tell him I have a shipment coming up next month and I’d like him to help transport it. As for the price,” Mo Huaixing squatted down, casually picked up a moldy branch, and drew a phone number on his chest. “Have him contact me.”
"Okay." The bearded man stood up, clutching his leg, and dragged himself deeper into the basement.
"Stop!" Mo Huaixing threw the tree branch at him and warned, "Don't use children to smuggle drugs again. If I see it again, I'll chop you up."
"Yes, yes, yes."
The basements were all interconnected, and the bearded man vanished in a flash. Mo Huaixing ran in the opposite direction and was apprehended by the police.
At this time, Fang Heng and Gan Tang had already come downstairs. The children were sent to the hospital, and several police officers were waiting upstairs for the anti-drug squad to arrive.
"Release him." Fang Heng saw two policemen bringing Mo Huaixing out and went over to explain, "He's my friend; I invited him here."
After saying that, he asked Mo Huaixing, "Where is he?"
They got away!
"They ran away?" A hint of doubt flashed in Fang Heng's eyes, followed by a deeper worry, but all of this was hidden beneath his smile.
"It was expected that you would run away; you're not a professional to begin with. But you need to think carefully about the details. The anti-drug squad will be here to take your statement soon, so you can't just say it like that."
Thinking of Deputy Chief Sheng, who had a grudge against Lu Zhengqian, Gan Tang was a little worried: "We're not bad people, why are we taking statements?"
"You are important eyewitnesses, so of course you have to give your statements. Deputy Chief Sheng of the Narcotics Division is known for his meticulousness, and I also have to be called over to give my statement. You'd better answer carefully, or you'll be questioned until tomorrow."
As he spoke, Fang Heng walked towards a police car.
Gan Tang asked urgently, "Where are you going?"
Fang Heng said helplessly, "I'll go and interrogate those human traffickers first. They might get taken away by the anti-drug squad soon and won't be returned to me for several days."
Several children are still missing, and he needs to find out their whereabouts as soon as possible.
Gan Tang hurried towards Fang Heng, but her foot slipped and she fell onto Fang Heng.
"Ouch, that hurts..." Gan Tang grabbed Fang Heng's arm and painfully pulled up one leg. "Brother Fang, I was slashed in the foot by a drug dealer when I was fighting with him. I need to go to the hospital to get it checked out."
It was already dark, and Fang Heng looked down but couldn't see anything. "I'll take you to the hospital."
"No need!" Gan Tang hurriedly waved her hand, "We can go ourselves!"
"That won't do. You got injured while helping me." Fang Heng's attitude was firm, and he directly returned the police car keys to the police station.
Gan Tang chuckled dryly, "Alright then!"
The three of them got into another car. By this time, the streetlights had come on, and the car was moving slowly along the bustling street.
Gan Tang lifted up her trouser leg and said with a smile, "It's just a bruise, nothing serious, no need to go to the hospital."
Fang Heng nodded, "Alright, let's go straight to the anti-drug squad. The sooner you finish recording, the sooner you can leave."
Gan Tang's face darkened: "I'm hungry, let's eat first and then go over!"
Fang Heng turned his head, but before he could speak, Gan Tang coldly accused him: "I have low blood sugar. Do you want me to faint in your interrogation room? Captain Fang, I've already helped you today, haven't I? You won't even let me eat?"
"Don't be angry, eat up. I'll treat Sister Lu to dinner." Fang Heng turned to look out the car window. He wasn't very familiar with the area either, so he pointed to the brightest-looking restaurant and asked, "How about this one?"
"Okay!" Gan Tang nodded, since she hadn't really intended to eat anyway. The car stopped, and Gan Tang saw a shopping mall across the street. She said to the two of them, "You two go up first, I'll go buy something."
Inside the private room, Fang Heng looked down at the menu and joked, "Why is she so afraid to meet your dad? Is she shy?"
After a long silence, Fang Heng looked up and saw a fierce-looking face.
"Who told you to get her contact information?"
"It's been so long, and now they're still coming to settle scores with me?" Fang Heng was speechless, but smiled smugly: "What do you mean I kept her? It was clearly Sister Lu who asked me for her."
Mo Huaixing warned, "Stay away from her from now on."
"Why should I!" Fang Heng laughed. "I remember you said you weren't her boyfriend."
Mo Huaixing warned, "It's none of your business either."
"How can it be nothing?" Fang Heng replied seriously, "If it weren't, I'd love to pursue her!"
Mo Huaixing's eyes blazed with anger, and his voice changed tone: "You still want to pursue me?"
"Of course." Fang Heng looked on with longing and admiration. "That Miss Lu is lively and beautiful, gentle and considerate, and she's the eldest daughter of the Lu Group. She has more money than she can spend. If I were to take her back to the old man, he would be so happy that he wouldn't be able to stop smiling for three months."
"You dare!"
"What's the rush?" Fang Heng teased him with a smile. "You're the one who said she's not your girlfriend. If she isn't, why can't I pursue her?"
"Absolutely not!"
"That's going too far." Fang Heng held up the menu and warned seriously, "You don't pursue her, but you won't let others pursue her? Are you going to let this young lady stay single forever?"
Mo Huaixing lowered his head and remained silent.
"Hey, you always overthink things." Fang Heng was about to lecture him when his expression suddenly changed. He quietly walked to the door and opened it.
Gan Tang had just reached the door, intending to eavesdrop for a while, when she was caught red-handed, still pressed against the door. Embarrassed, she decided to start by complaining, "You scared me to death! Why didn't you make a sound when you left?"
Who is the one who remains silent?
"Sorry!" Fang Heng cooperated by not exposing him and sat back down.
Gan Tang was carrying two bags, one plastic and one paper. Inside the plastic bag was a crumpled shirt, without even a tag.
She casually tossed the plastic bag at Mo Huaixing and urged him to leave: "Change it!"
"Thank you!" Mo Huaixing went to the restroom to change his clothes and came back. As soon as he reached the door, he saw Gan Tang sitting gracefully at the round table, her slender hand on Fang Heng's shoulder, a faint smile on her lips.
