Chapter 33 It’s better to break one leg of each of those men
Soon, Gu Xiaoxi discovered that her third brother's worries were right.
As soon as they arrived at Mrs. Tan's stall, the merchants looked over, especially the stall owner who was also selling porridge, with his neck stretched out.
Mrs. Tan and her husband were overjoyed to see them coming. Mrs. Tan pulled them to sit at the table and said, "Drink some porridge first, so you'll have the energy to sell your wares later."
"Thank you, Auntie Tan. We came out today after breakfast." Gu Xiaoxi thanked her and declined, then took her mother and introduced her to her: "Auntie Tan, this is my mother. I carried some extra things out today, so I brought her out with me."
"Aunt, sit down and talk." Mrs. Tan pulled Chai to sit down.
Old Tan poured a cup of hot water and brought it to her. When Chai saw her daughter nod, she took the water and drank it with a smile.
Before they could say a few words, several shop owners from nearby shops came over.
"Miss, are your chestnuts, which are sweeter than my wife, available for sale today?" asked Zhang, the shopkeeper of Xuehai Bookstore, anxiously.
The day before yesterday, the waiter from the store came over to join in the fun and bought a bowl to take home. As a result, he couldn't stop eating and ate up all of it.
"Yes, yes, yes. How much do you want?" Seeing that business was coming, Gu Xiaoxi immediately went to greet him.
Thus, today's business begins.
Shopkeeper Zhang brought a basin and bought five bowls at once. Several shopkeepers who were still eager to eat that day saw Shopkeeper Zhang bringing the basin and turned back to bring their own basins.
When merchants from nearby saw so many people coming here, they all came over curiously to take a look, and then tried something. After trying it, many people bought something.
In less than a short while, half of the chestnuts were sold out.
Gu Xiaoxi thought of the sloppy Mr. Chen from yesterday. When he came, he was followed by several well-dressed young men.
She thought for a moment and said, "Third brother, keep one basket. This is what I promised those students."
"Okay, I understand." Gu Nanming nodded in understanding.
After hearing this, Chai said hurriedly, "Why keep it if there are customers buying it? You can go back after you sell it."
"Mom, don't worry about this." Seeing that her mother didn't know the reason, Gu Xiaoxi didn't blame her.
However, Chai wanted to sell out the goods quickly and go back home early.
Before the academy opened, all the three baskets of chestnuts he brought were sold out.
Aunt Tan was worried about Gu Xiaoxi and patted her gently.
Seeing another customer coming, Chai wanted to shout out her wares, but Gu Xiaoxi quickly covered her mouth.
"Mom, have you forgotten what I just said?" She frowned.
Chai finally shut up. After the guest left, Mrs. Tan came over and whispered, "The young man Chen from yesterday was called Chen Qinian. He's a troublemaker here. You promised not to keep him here. If he comes to cause trouble, you probably won't be able to put it aside."
Hearing what Mrs. Tan said, Chai broke out in a cold sweat on her forehead.
I originally wanted to make money quickly and go home, but I didn't expect that I almost got into big trouble.
"Thank you, Mrs. Tan, for the reminder. When we come the day after tomorrow, we will try to bring a few more baskets." Gu Xiaoxi bowed to express her gratitude.
After waiting for a while, the door of the academy opened and a group of scholars rushed in.
Gu Xiaoxi poured out some for Mr. Chen, and the scholars quickly bought up the rest of the basket.
Chen Qinian was looking forward to eating some delicious chestnuts at noon, but he was caught by the teacher as soon as the get out of class was over. The teacher talked a lot and only now did he come up with the skills.
When I came out, I saw that the young lady was still there, but there was no one at the stall.
It’s over!
I can no longer eat chestnuts that are sweeter than my wife’s.
He was a little frustrated and wanted to get angry, and the followers around him didn't dare to get close to him when they saw him like this.
Gu Xiaoxi saw Chen Qinian with a dark face from afar. She stood up, waved, and called out, "Mr. Chen, this way!"
Chen Qinian didn't expect the young lady to greet him. He walked over curiously, looked at the empty basket, and said angrily, "They're all sold out. What are you asking me to do?"
Gu Xiaoxi smiled gently, took out the backpack from behind and opened it, inside were the chestnuts she had left for him.
Seeing the chestnuts, Chen Qinian's face suddenly showed a smile: "No matter how much these cost, I will buy them all."
"Just give me ten cents." Gu Xiaoxi casually quoted a price.
"Thank you, little sister!" Chen Qinian happily took out ten cents and gave them to Gu Xiaoxi, who wrapped a few packets of money in paper and gave them to her.
Several young men nearby were envious, and one of them pouted: "Miss, you are a little biased!"
Gu Xiaoxi could only apologize repeatedly: "I'm sorry, young masters, even the owner of the neighboring shop is here today. You can tell me how much you want, and I'll keep it all for you when you come over the day after tomorrow."
Hearing that the young lady was willing to leave some for them, they each reported the amount they needed.
Gu Xiaoxi wrote down the total amount and would leave it for them the day after tomorrow.
As a result, after they said this, the students who were drinking porridge nearby also came over.
In less than a short while, a whole basket was ordered.
Fortunately, she picked a lot of chestnuts, otherwise they would have been sold out in a few days.
After writing down the order, Gu Xiaoxi started to pack up the stall.
Chen Qinian and his friends ate chestnuts but did not leave. They sat down and each ordered a bowl of white porridge to eat slowly.
After packing up her things, Gu Xiaoxi hurried back. It was still early, so she could go up the mountain and work for a while.
After watching the young lady and the others leave, Chen Qinian looked back, only to see the stall owner not far away suddenly leaving stealthily.
This scene was not only seen by Chen Qinian, but also by Mrs. Tan. She lowered her head and whispered a few words to her husband.
Brother Tan looked up and saw that there was indeed no one on the opposite side. He wiped his hands hurriedly and walked out.
Gu Xiaoxi and the other two were carrying empty backpacks and planning to go to that street to buy some oil paper. When they passed the alley in the middle, they were surrounded by several people.
"Tie up this young lady for me, cut off the hands and feet of the woman and this man and throw them on the street." The leading guy walked towards Gu Xiaoxi with a gangster smile.
"You, you can't hurt my daughter." Chai saw these people's faces full of fear.
"I, I will fight you." Gu Nanming rushed forward and said this, but was kicked away by the other party.
"Third brother!" Gu Xiaoxi stepped forward and helped his third brother up.
"Hmph, a bunch of peasants, you want to steal our business? Damn it!" The man said as he reached out and grabbed Gu Xiaoxi's hair.
Gu Xiaoxi dodged nimbly, picked up the man and threw him out fiercely.
When Chen Qinian ran to the alley, he happened to see the young lady throwing the man out.
"Oh wow, this young lady is so awesome!" He couldn't help but applaud.
Old Tan, who followed in, was also surprised. He walked forward a few steps and saw the culprit hiding in the corner opposite.
"Tan Youcai, what exactly are you going to do?" He pointed at the corner and shouted.
Tan Youcai didn't expect to be discovered, so he turned and ran. As he ran out of the alley, he said to the people next to him, "Don't forget, you guys are paid. Beat them to death. It would be best if you break one leg of each of those men!"
"Yes!" The lackey who was waiting outside the alley rushed into the alley.
