Chapter 17 Midnight Snack
Yan Jinnian took the food away, got out of the car, and threw it into the trash can.
The two buckets of popcorn were saved from disaster because Anmi intercepted them beforehand.
The car left the cinema, drove back to the city, and finally stopped in front of a quiet courtyard.
"arrive."
Yan Jinnian turned off the engine and got out of the car. Seeing An Mi still sitting there in a daze, he couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"
She glanced at the detached villa outside the car.
"This...isn't this your house?"
Under the guise of having a meal, he actually lured her to his home. This man is truly unfathomable...
Yan Jinnian's eyes flickered slightly, and his gaze toward An Mi became somewhat obscure.
"You want to come to my house?"
"..."
She was definitely overthinking it.
Anmi opened the car door: "No!"
...
The two walked into the courtyard and were greeted by a very elegant little flower garden, with a path paved with pebbles underfoot.
As Yan Jinnian walked, he introduced the restaurant to her, saying, "This restaurant is very close to my workplace, so it's very convenient for me to eat here."
Anmi nodded, looking around with great interest.
The flowerbed was planted with many flowers she didn't recognize, all different colors, and they looked very beautiful together.
At the end of the cobblestone path, a waiter in a kimono was waiting. When he saw them coming up, he said something in Japanese. Anmi had seen a few Japanese dramas before, and judging from the tone of his voice, it should mean "welcome".
The waiter led them inside. The interior was decorated in a typical Japanese style, with wooden sliding doors, tatami mats, tables and chairs everywhere. Warm yellow lights shone on the floor, making it look exactly like a set in a Japanese drama.
The waiter led them to a seat at a long food counter.
A middle-aged man in a kimono walked out from behind the curtain.
The middle-aged man seemed to know Yan Jinnian. As soon as he saw him, he greeted him with a big smile in Japanese.
To An Mi's surprise, Yan Jinnian also spoke fluent Japanese.
The two of them started chatting away.
An Mi's DNA stirred, and her gaze toward Yan Jinnian gradually deepened.
"Hello, beautiful lady!"
As the man was speaking, he suddenly turned to Anmi and greeted her in Chinese.
"Ah, hello!" Anmi replied politely.
The man had a kind face, much like a master chef she had seen in a Japanese drama.
"Miss, you're so cute!"
After greeting Yan Jinnian, the man turned to the side, gave him a thumbs-up, and his eyebrows twitched comically.
Yan Jinnian smiled and said something to him in Japanese.
The other person suddenly looked enlightened, and then smiled even more broadly at Anmi.
Anmi had a strange fear that she was about to be abducted and sold.
After exchanging pleasantries, the man returned to behind the curtain.
“He’s the owner and head chef here. He came from Japan ten years ago and opened this restaurant,” Yan Jinnian explained.
“Oh.” Anmi understood, and then voiced her thoughts, “He looks like he’s good at making sushi.”
Yan Jin smiled gently, appearing very tender under the warm yellow light.
"Are there any dietary restrictions?" he asked.
Anmi shook her head.
She eats everything and is very easy to feed.
The two sat for a while, and then the assistant brought up a box of ingredients.
After the boss came over to check the ingredients, he said a few words to Yan Jinnian, and An Mi saw that he just kept nodding.
After everyone left, Yan Jinnian explained, "He said we came at the last minute and there were no sea urchins left today, so we shouldn't be disappointed."
“Oh…” Anmi nodded.
She doesn't know much about Japanese food; she's fine as long as there's something to eat, she's not picky. Besides, she's not particularly hungry, so she probably won't eat much.
However, once the meal began, Anmi's concerns were dispelled.
She hadn't expected that the time interval between the previous dish and the next dish would be so long!
The old saying goes, "It takes an hour to cook, but only five minutes to eat," and this perfectly illustrates that.
Anmi wasn't hungry at first, but as she watched the other person prepare the food and had plenty of time to digest the previous dish, she felt her appetite growing bigger and bigger.
They were eating.
"Miss Dodo eats so cutely!"
The boss suddenly gave her a thumbs up, praising her eating manners.
It's always nice to be told you're cute.
But who is Miss Duoduo?
An Mi turned to look at Yan Jinnian with a puzzled expression.
The man explained, "Duoduo, his Chinese isn't very standard."
"..."
So you just told him my nickname like that!
ah!
Anmi stared at the man in silence.
Yan Jinnian said calmly, "This name is easier for him to remember."
I don't believe you for a second!
Anmi silently swallowed her anger, vowing that she would definitely find out his nickname next time.
The meal took a long time to finish, and the owner even gave us a small dessert at the end.
"It's a cake made by Miss Duoduo, which is easy to raise and very cute!"
Anmi looked at the cake shaped like a little seal.
"Ai?"
How are they the same?
So, in the eyes of the Japanese, she looks a lot like a seal?
She turned to look at Yan Jinnian again.
The man gave a thumbs-up to show his approval: "Exactly the same."
Anmi: ′`?
Screw you!
After they finished their meal, the owner personally escorted them out.
Anmi saw the receipt printed out at the checkout counter: 5... followed by one, two, three...
"?"
That meal just cost over 5,000!
Anmi suddenly understood why the boss had so many smiles on his face. With such high profits, who wouldn't be happy?
She remembered her two cheap group-buying vouchers, which cost more than ten meals to equal the price of one meal for someone else.
She had thought that Yan Jinnian ate little because he didn't like hot pot or barbecue, but it turned out he simply didn't like bitter food.
Yan Jinnian took back the card, and An Mi silently followed him into the car. The boss even said to her in Chinese: "Welcome to visit again next time."
Anmi smiled, thinking to herself that this was probably the last time they would meet in this life.
After closing the door, Yan Jinnian started the car.
"How about we go to the nearby amusement park?"
"There's an amusement park here, it's really fun."
Anmi glanced at the time on her phone; it was almost eleven o'clock.
I ate two meals in one night and I can't lie down when I get home, so I might as well go for a walk to digest and maybe even lose weight.
And tomorrow is Saturday, so she doesn't have an interview.
"good!"
The amusement park is indeed not far from here.
After passing two intersections, Anmi could see the giant Ferris wheel in the night sky in the distance.
The pink beams of light gave it a particularly dreamy feel, and with the castles on both sides, it looked like a place where Barbie would appear.
Her interest was immediately piqued.
Yan Jinnian stopped his car at the gate.
The amusement park's parking lot is across the street; it's a bit of a walk there.
He told Anmi to get out of the car and wait for him there, while he drove to park his car.
Anmi got off the car. At the entrance of the amusement park, there was a large discount ticket package. The evening ticket was 198 yuan for two people. She was about to take out her phone to buy the ticket when a familiar voice suddenly came from behind her.
"Anmi?"
That voice… She turned around.
The boy in the white t-shirt smiled, his eyebrows relaxed, his eyes clear, and his handsome face was like a warm ray of sunshine in winter, radiating youthful energy.
It was Gu Huai, holding Jiang Youyi's hand like a sun leading a dark cloud.
Jiang Youyi's expression never improved whenever she saw her.
Gu Huai walked towards her with a smile on his face: "It really is you! I thought I was seeing things."
Anmi was also surprised to run into the two of them here, and paused for a moment: "You two..."
“We’re here on a date!” Jiang Youyi took the initiative to raise her hand and clasp Gu Huai’s.
She looked Anmi up and down: "Are you here on a date too? When did you find a boyfriend? Why don't you introduce him to us?"
Anmi didn't speak; she wished she were mute.
Gu Huai chuckled and said, "An Mi is rather shy, so don't ask her so directly."
"Then how should I ask?" Jiang Youyi's face immediately darkened.
"Uh, Youyi..." Gu Huai didn't know how his words had offended her.
Jiang Youyi let go of his hand: "Did I speak too loudly and scare her, or did my tone upset her? You care so much about her feelings, anyone would think she's your girlfriend!"
Even if Anmi was slow to understand, she could still pick up on the meaning behind the question, which was full of hostility.
"No, Youyi... what are you saying?" Gu Huai was still full of questions.
Anmi watched his anxious expression and suddenly felt a pang of sadness.
In her memory, Gu Huai had always been a boy with a bright smile and cheerful personality, not the punching bag in front of her who could be easily manipulated with just a few words.
She knew in her heart that as long as she was still there, Gu Huai would remain in this situation.
"Um... I just tried to hail a taxi here, but it looks like it's going to be hard to get one. I think I'll take the subway instead."
After saying that, Anmi ran towards the parking lot without looking back.
