Chapter 32 Lost in thought, it was at this moment that he realized he had just been lost in thought…
Yu Chao first landed in Fuzhou and went to the mining company that Li Xiang had registered.
The company's head, Vance, is quite principled, but carries the arrogance of an upper-class elite.
Or rather, after Li Xiang's death, Wan Si wanted to take over, and his attitude towards Yu Chaoxian was visibly disdainful, showing that he didn't take the young Yu Chaoxian seriously at all.
When Yu Chaoxian suddenly appeared and wanted to check the company's order information, Vance had no idea where this young upstart came from.
“Mr. Yu,” Vance tapped his cigar on the ashtray, his gold watch dangling from his wrist, “you may be able to make a name for yourself in Taicheng, but this is Florida.” He deliberately shoved the documents into the drawer. “This is my territory. Your money is useless here. I don’t buy into that, and I have no obligation to follow your orders.”
Chen Diao is actually best at dealing with people, but the base needs someone to keep an eye on things, and Yu Tang's side also needs someone to stay, so the only option is to leave Chen Diao at home to look after things.
Otherwise, Chen Diao would have already stepped forward and dealt with the person properly.
Without any hesitation, Yu Chaoxian sat down in the chair in front of his desk and slowly lit a cigarette.
"It's free, which means my politeness is useless. I suppose Mr. Vance has prepared a foolproof plan to deal with me." Yu Chaoxian exhaled a puff of smoke and sighed as if in distress.
Si squinted at the young man. Although he was wearing a well-tailored suit, it couldn't hide his underlying cynicism. He guessed he was just a playboy who knew nothing but how to pave his way with money.
It's a pity that after Li Xiang died, Taicheng's company could only be taken over by young people like him.
“Mr. Yu, you have to know the rules when doing business in Florida,” Vance said with a contemptuous smile, looking completely at ease. “I advise you to leave gracefully, otherwise the sniper in the room across the street won’t be as easy to talk to as I am.”
Upon hearing the threat, Yu Chaoxian maintained the faint smile on his lips. He smoked his cigarette, twirled his phone, and remained unmoved, as if waiting for something.
Despite Vance being in a superior position, for some reason, the young man's casual posture made him feel an oppressive sense of suffocation and fear.
Vance, strong and composed, gestured towards the door, "Life is more important than money, isn't it? Mr. Yu is a smart man; leaving is the wise thing to do."
Yu Chaoxian's phone lit up. He stopped wasting words with Vance, pointed to the vibrating phone on Vance's desk, and said casually, "Take a call first."
Vance glanced at the incoming call; it was his wife calling. His heart tightened, and as he turned away and pressed the answer button, the heart-wrenching cries of his wife and child immediately filled the air.
"Daddy...Daddy, please save me and Mommy! The uncle in our family has been beaten to death...Honey, who did you offend? Quickly agree to their demands, he's holding a gun to our son's temple, please save our child! Ugh..."
The boy's crying stopped on the other end of the phone, and Mickey's voice came through: "Boss, those useless guys at his house are taken care of. Those two were too noisy, could you cut their tongues out?"
"No, no! Let's talk this out!" Vance's face turned ashen instantly. He looked at Yu Chaoxian pleadingly and said anxiously, "Mr. Yu, please don't hurt my wife and children. I'll cooperate, I'll cooperate with everything!"
"It would have been better if you had done this sooner." Yu Chao raised an eyebrow, his tone like a compliment. "Mr. Vance is indeed a smart man. Please bring the documents over."
Seeing that Vance was still staring at the phone, Yu Chaoxian slowly exhaled a smoke ring, as if he had just remembered something, and said into the phone, "Mickey, don't be so violent. Don't hold a gun to someone's head. Pour your wife a cup of coffee, and you play with the child. Mr. Vance and I will have a good talk."
"Okay, boss." Mickey wasn't good at coaxing children, but he remembered how his boss used to tease his aunt with mango sticky rice. He would take out candy to amuse the child, and his outstretched arm was thicker than the child's head, which scared the child so much that he cried loudly.
Yu Chaoxian hung up the phone. Vance's legs went weak and he slumped back into his chair. He was even a little afraid to look at Yu Chaoxian across from him. Beneath such a handsome exterior, his methods were chilling. You might think he was treating people politely, but he would pull out an abacus and a gun from behind his suit, and start calculating with a loud, clear sound. He would settle accounts for you clearly, and if you still didn't accept it after understanding, then he would send you to eat a bullet.
Whether there was a sniper on the other side was no longer important; Vance simply couldn't afford to gamble. Money was nothing compared to his wife and children.
Without even wiping away his sweat, Vance opened the safe with trembling hands and took out the confidential documents that Li Xiang had kept there, without uttering a single word.
As he handed it to Yu Chaoxian, he suddenly gripped it tightly, his last bargaining chip: "Mr. Yu, will you release my wife and children?"
Yu Chaoxian clicked his tongue, put his hand away, lit another cigarette, leaned back in his chair, and twirled his phone in his hand.
Seeing his impatience, Vance quickly shoved the document into Yu Chaoxian's hand, fearing that he might change his mind and refuse to read it, and then make a phone call to have someone take care of his wife and children.
Yu Chaoxian quickly glanced at the documents, then took one out and examined it carefully. This document contained details of Li Xiang's business transactions, the routes taken, transaction records and contents of various governments, and even the amount and method of bribery.
Vance brought over the coffee, and I waited patiently yet anxiously.
Yu Chaoxian smoked a cigarette and carefully read through the documents. About two hours later, his phone vibrated, and he finally looked up from the documents.
Yu Chao glanced at the message, then looked at Vance, who was waiting for him to ask a question, and said, "Lend me a piece of paper and a pen."
Vance thought he was being quite polite, even though the company would soon be his, and he was still talking about borrowing money. With that in mind, he still quickly sent over the banknotes.
Yu Chaoxian wrote and drew on the paper.
Vance glanced at it; it was...a math problem?
What is the deeper meaning behind this question?
Vance stared at the problem, pondering it in his mind. It was an algebraic equation, and he had even drawn a coordinate graph...
Yu Chao first sent a message with the solution steps, and then asked, "Mr. Vance, do you also tutor your children with their homework?"
Vance nodded, noting that the child's expression softened and he seemed less nervous. "The child is still young, just started third grade, and has only just learned about equations."
Yu Chaoxian recalled the child calling him "Day" repeatedly. "Does the child rely on you a lot?" Vance didn't know why Yu Chaoxian was talking to him about family matters again. He told the truth: "Yes, his mother is a model and often goes out to shoot. Helping the child with homework and taking care of daily life all fall on me. I spend a lot of time with the child, so the child usually relies on me."
"Companionship?" Yu Chaoxian didn't quite understand.
“I usually bring my child with me. If it weren’t for his mother being on vacation this time, I would pick him up from school and bring him to the company. Kids are very forgetful; they cling to whoever spends time with them. These past few days, his mother has been with him, and he keeps calling her ‘Mom.’ If I don’t call, he doesn’t even remember that I’m his father. But kids are easy to coax. When I come home from get off work, I bring him his favorite toys and snacks, and he starts clinging to me again, wanting me to hold him.” Vance said this jokingly, with a hint of exaggeration, but Yu Chaoxian heard it in a completely different way.
Yu Tang has no conscience; she only thinks about Yu Yanting. It's only been four or five days since they last met, and she hasn't sent him many messages, except for the one she sent him a picture of a problem to ask him how to solve.
Chen Diao reported to him that Yu Tang would go to the hospital to accompany Yu Yanting every night. So, even though Yu Yanting was half-dead, she could still feel accompanied.
When we arrived, we were concerned about his thirst and kept asking when he would be back, but now it's like we've forgotten he exists. It's true, pets can't be allowed to roam freely; they have to be kept close at hand.
"Mr. Yu, do you also have children?" Vance noticed that Yu Chaoxian seemed more approachable when the topic of children came up, so he followed up on the conversation.
Yu Chaoxian stubbed out his cigarette. "Go to senior year."
Vance thought he was only in his early twenties, so how could his family have a child in the final year of high school? Although he was puzzled, it was none of his business; curiosity can kill.
He didn't say anything more until Yu Chaoxian asked him about the documents, at which point he would speak.
Yu Chaoxian stayed in this place for almost three days and figured out the ins and outs. Li Xiang was indeed helping the government transport rare mineral resources and had cooperation agreements with multiple governments.
Yu Chaoxian still entrusted the management of Fuzhou to Vance. Vance had been trying to find out about the people in charge of the companies in Taicheng for the past two days, and finally discovered that all those who refused Yu Chaoxian had suffered terribly; their families were either dead or crippled. Those crippled were barely clinging to life, unable to die, and life held no meaning for them.
Vance admired Yu Chaoxian's abilities, but he was even more afraid of his ruthless methods, and dared not resist or refuse. Fortunately, the conditions Yu Chaoxian offered him were good, even more generous than those offered by Li Xiang before, so he had no choice but to work wholeheartedly for Yu Chaoxian. He dared not gamble with the lives of his wife and children.
As for Mickey, who was by Yu Chaoxian's side, after seeing the miserable state of his bodyguards, he realized that, just like in the movies, tattooed foreigners were not to be trifled with.
Just when Mickey thought that his boss would rush back to Taicheng after finishing his business in Florida, Yu Chaoxian flew to the Americas again.
I met Henry, a famous jewelry designer. Henry has served as the creative director of the world's top three jewelry brands.
Yu Chaoxian's mother, Zhou Ningxuan, loved the jewelry designed by Henry and often commissioned custom pieces from him. When Yu Chaoxian was a child, he often accompanied his mother to these events.
Henry and Yu Chaoxian had a long-standing friendship, or more accurately, Henry and Yu Chaoxian's mother, Zhou Ningxuan. Henry and Zhou Ningxuan were college classmates, and Henry failed to win Zhou Ningxuan's heart during their four years of college. In fact, the girl he loved married Yu Yanting, who had pursued her for a month, not long after graduation.
Zhou Ningxuan told Henry that only Yu Yanting could give her the love at first sight, the passionate and intense love she wanted.
What she wanted was a love as great as death.
Henry was so heartbroken that he had no intention of getting married again. He treated Yu Chaoxian as a son, after all, he was the child of the woman he loved.
After hearing Yu Chaoxian's request, Henry asked, "What about the size?"
Yu Chaoxian thought for a moment, then raised his hand and circled his thumb and forefinger. "According to this size."
This bracelet, worth millions, was decided on so casually.
Yu Chaoxian glanced at the time: "Can it be done in a month?"
Henry stared at the exquisite, flawless face opposite him. Yu Chaoxian, who had completely outshone those popular stars in film, teased with interest, "Yu is in love? A gift for your girlfriend? What kind of woman has finally won Yu's heart? Don't worry, since it's Yu's, I'll naturally make it yours first. But Vivian would be heartbroken if she knew."
Vivian is the daughter of an American general. Yu Chaoxian rescued her during a previous mission, and Vivian has secretly fallen in love with him ever since.
"Enough with the nonsense." Yu Chaoxian was too lazy to satisfy Henry's gossipy nature, but he still gave him a word of advice: "Don't be too mature in style."
Henry immediately grasped the key point from that sentence: "The other person is very young? Younger than you? Don't you dislike people younger than you?"
“Why did I say I don’t like smaller ones than mine?” Yu Chaoxian was dissatisfied with Henry’s behavior on this point. “Don’t get off topic. Send me the finished draft first.”
"Don't worry, Yu. I can make this bullet that almost killed you in your neck look so beautiful, let alone such a perfect ruby."
Yu Chaoxian remained noncommittal. The bullet in his neck had grazed his heart, but he had survived. After the wound healed, he examined the bullet and decided to keep it. He then had Henry design a necklace for him, which he carried as a talisman for many years.
Yu Chaoxian wore this necklace and narrowly escaped death several times. Now, after six years, it has become a part of his body.
Seeing that Yu Chaoxian was silent for a moment, Henry guessed that he was thinking about the girl he liked. He suddenly pulled Yu Chaoxian's hand over and looked at it himself: "Yu, I've been studying Eastern palmistry lately. How about I read your palm and take a look at your love line?" As he spoke, Henry opened Yu Chaoxian's hand without any hesitation. "Hmm, your career line and life line are long and deep, not bad."
"It's just that the love line... is too shallow." Henry sighed regretfully, and held out his own hand to look at it. "Mine is too short, which is why Ningxuan and I didn't end up together."
Yu Chaoxian scoffed, and didn't believe it either. Could he blame his palmistry for not being able to catch the person?
"I'm leaving. I'll have Mickey send the wine to your house."
Henry didn't have many interests, but wine tasting was one of them. So Yu Chaoxian would bring him a few bottles of wine every time he came.
Seeing that Yu Chaoxian was about to leave, Henry tried to persuade him to stay, saying, "Won't you have a meal together before you go?"
Yu Chaoxian twirled his phone in his hand. If he didn't go back soon, Yu Tang might completely forget about him. Just a few days ago, she was sending him practice questions, but now she wouldn't even send him a single one. Her grades had improved so quickly in just half a month. He wanted to go back and see how this high school student had improved so rapidly.
Yu Chaoxian left Henry's place, his superior appearance and tall stature attracting the attention of the ladies in the building.
Henry, leaning against the door, chuckled, "Ladies, you've all vanished. Wipe your drool."
The women didn't seem to care: "We're so tired from work every day, can't we at least look at some handsome guys to feast our eyes on?"
In fact, they didn't even spare Mickey, who was waiting at the door, but Mickey was like a piece of wood and didn't move at all.
On the wide road, the black Bentley was inconspicuous amidst the bustling traffic. No one would guess that the young man in the car was Yu Chaoxian, who had taken over the arms business in Virginia and Killaria and also owned the Yu family's legitimate military factory.
The car radio was broadcasting international news: "...Arms trafficker Li Xiang has been confirmed dead a week ago. Li Xiang was accused of smuggling weapons to conflict zones in Syria, Libya, and Florida, involving transactions worth 10 billion green dollars, and causing multiple civilian massacres... Li Xiang's death is a fatal blow to the global illegal arms trade. Li Xiang's death proves that no criminal can escape justice forever!"
Mickey understood from the news that the credit for Li Xiang's death was being attributed to the police. He glanced at the man texting on his phone in the rearview mirror; the boss seemed completely unconcerned about the news.
Indeed, Li Xiang alone is not enough to make the boss temporarily lay low.
Even if the American Intelligence Agency were to send agents to investigate Yu Chaoxian, no one would associate Yu Chaoxian's appearance with the name "Yu Chaoxian".
In a conference room at CIA headquarters, a photo of a gray-haired man was projected onto a screen, with the words "Li Xiang" written on it.
Chief Carson sat in the head seat. He had been wearing an eye patch for years because one of his eyes was injured in the war, and he lived in the headquarters building almost day and night in order to uncover the truth of the case.
He is currently convening a war meeting with the mercenaries he has personally trained. Those at the conference table are all Carson's men.
Every mercenary deeply respected the director who devoted himself to his work. To uphold justice and punish evil, the director personally funded their training and sent them to investigate arms smugglers around the world.
Although these mercenaries are not CIA agents, the training they undergo is no less rigorous than, and may even be more rigorous than, the CIA's training.
Carson began the meeting in English: "Li Xiang, who has been smuggling arms in Florida, has died in Taicheng. Intelligence shows that his business is still expanding. Based on Li Xiang's age and his personnel habits, the person who takes over should also be quite experienced, but we currently have zero information on the person who will take over."
Upon hearing this, the mercenaries present turned serious, indicating that the person who took over the task was very adept at counter-surveillance.
Carson looked toward the far edge of the conference table. The young mercenary looked serious and earnest: "Michael, you lived in Hong Kong when you were young and went to university in Taicheng. You are familiar with the local customs and habits. You will be in charge of this intelligence mission. Your new identity is Li Xiang's henchman in Hong Kong. You need to infiltrate Li Xiang's headquarters in Taicheng and get close to Chen Diao, who recently joined Li Xiang's company. You can start with the girl next to him."
Michael's eyes lit up when his name was called. Michael was just twenty-two years old and only held a junior intern position in the department. He hadn't expected the director to trust him so much and entrust him with such an important task.
This mission is his chance to prove himself and show his skills!
"Received!" Michael's young and handsome face was filled with eager excitement.
As the meeting ended, the mercenaries, all dressed in white shirts with black shoulder straps, walked out of the conference room.
Michael didn't leave; he was looking down at the documents, the black leather shoulder strap perfectly hugging the straight lines of his back. He adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and continued turning to the next page.
The senior put his arm around Michael's shoulder. "Little Michael is going to take on a mission too. Do you want some advice?"
Michael nodded emphatically; he would certainly listen to his senior's advice.
The senior colleague said with a mysterious expression, "There's a girl on this mission, so be careful not to develop any thoughts about her that go beyond the mission."
"Thoughts outside of the mission?" Michael asked, puzzled. "What kind of thoughts are those?"
Next to him was his former partner in life and death, Howard, who teased, "Little Michael is still a greenhorn, clueless kid who doesn't know anything!"
Michael didn't really understand those things, but he knew that the mission should start with the girl. She was kind and had little sense of vigilance, making her the best starting point.
While kindness is a positive trait, it seems to become a weakness in girls. If it weren't for men, girls wouldn't have to worry about being followed when walking at night, and even if they were drunk and passed out on the street, they wouldn't have to worry about freezing to death, because passing girls would offer them their coats.
Faced with Howard's meaningful smile, the girl... Michael seemed thoughtful.
In the vast Yu mansion, only Yu Tang and the always silent Filipino maid remained.
Yu Tang used to be willful, but now she's become exceptionally obedient. The nanny brought her milk and gently reminded her not to watch TV while eating, so she obediently turned off the screen and focused on her meal.
She knew that her aunt's concern was her job, something she earned with her salary. But even so, this companionship had lasted for five or six years.
It predates the Yu Dynasty by a great deal.
The warmth of those two weeks was quickly diluted by daily life. On the first day after Yu Chaoxian left, Yu Tang did think about him. But Mo Fei's company at school, her brother at the hospital, and the piles of test papers on her desk gradually filled all the gaps in her mind. Days passed like flowing water, and Yu Chaoxian's image quietly faded from her mind.
One day after school, she habitually looked towards the school gate. There was no familiar black Bentley, nor was anyone lazily leaning against the car waiting for her, glancing at her and saying: "Yu Tang, why are you looking at people without saying anything? What's the meaning of this?"
Now the tree at the school gate is empty. Yu Tang paused for a moment before realizing, oh, he left a long time ago.
On Monday after school, Yu Tang's homeroom teacher held a class meeting that went overtime. Mo Fei, who was supposed to leave school on time, went to the school gate first to buy milk tea and wait for Yu Tang.
The two girls had made a plan: one would leave school first, and the other would buy snacks and wait for her at the school gate.
Mo Fei bought her milk tea at the school gate and waited for about ten minutes when she saw a shadow coming from the ground.
“You finally—” Mo Fei turned around with a smile, but her voice trailed off. In front of her was a girl with short, dyed blonde hair, a row of earrings on her ear cartilage gleaming coldly in the setting sun.
As soon as Mo Fei turned around, she saw a girl with dyed yellow hair.
The blonde girl glared at Mo Fei, her disdainful gaze sweeping over her. She was clearly not someone to be trifled with.
The girl quickly confirmed, "It's you!"
"Me? Are you sure you've got the right person? I don't know you." Seeing the other person's aggressive approach, Mo Fei quickly clarified the situation to avoid trouble.
"Are you called Mo Fei?" The other person suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Mofi took a half step back: "Yes, but..."
Before Mo Fei could explain, she was dragged into a nearby alley. The mottled walls still bore the shoe prints from the last fight. Even the security cameras here were broken, making it the most likely place for school violence to occur.
"Xu Chu says she likes you, I'd like to see what you're so great about!" The blonde girl took out her phone and said to her follower, "Take her clothes off!"
Chen Diao, who was waiting for Yu Tang to get out of school at the school gate, pulled down his sunglasses. "Tsk tsk, are young girls these days so bold? They're always taking nude photos of people." He lit a cigarette and looked on with interest. The girl whose clothes were being grabbed did have a pretty face, but her figure... well, it was hard to see clearly because of her school uniform.
But they're just little kids, nothing to see. Chen Diao is more interested in watching the drama unfold than watching people take off their clothes.
As soon as the bell rang, Yu Tang rushed out of the classroom. The school gate was deserted, with only a few fallen leaves swirling around. She took out her phone and dialed Mo Fei's number, vaguely hearing a familiar ringtone coming from deep within the alley—the funny ringtone they had set together.
Two broken milk tea cups lay on the ground at the alley entrance, the tapioca pearls and coconut jelly stuck stickily to the cement. Yu Tang looked up and saw two girls holding Mo Fei down.
One person covered her mouth, while the other was tearing at the collar of her school uniform.
"How dare you bully Mo Fei!" Without thinking, Yu Tang charged forward like a bull, slamming his head hard into the blonde girl's stomach.
The other person staggered back two steps, clutching his stomach and cursing, "Where the hell did you come from? I'll strip you naked too!"
Mo Fei cried with tears streaming down her face. She picked up the milk tea from the ground and splashed it on the blonde girl. Yu Tang then grabbed Mo Fei and ran away.
The blonde girl frequently bullied others at school. This time, she was causing trouble for Mo Fei because she had a crush on a junior, but the junior liked Mo Fei, who was a senior. Because of this, the blonde girl confronted Mo Fei and waited for her at the school gate early in the morning.
Seeing Yu Tang rush forward, Chen Diao, who was standing across from the school gate, gasped, almost burning his mouth with his cigarette. What did it have to do with her? She just rushed over like that!
Seeing the two girls staggering as they were chased, Yu Tang tripped and nearly fell face-first to the ground. Just as she closed her eyes, her collar suddenly tightened—Chen Diao grabbed one of her arms, glancing at the blonde girl: "What are you doing? What are you doing? I'm telling you, little girl, why are you engaging in school bullying? You almost killed me, you know?"
He looked down at Yu Tang and asked if she was alright. Yu Tang, still shaken, shook her head, indicating that she was fine. Only then did Chen Diao release them.
Chen Diao twisted the blonde girl's arm, dragged her to the ground, and threw her down. He had never laid a hand on a woman, except when he was disciplining her, but!
If Yu Tang gets hurt right under his nose, he'll be finished when the boss comes back!
Yu Tang remembered Chen Diao; he had bought her food at the base. When she saw Chen Diao pull out a gun, she quickly pressed his hand down and asked, "How do you plan to deal with them?"
Chen Diao asked Yu Tang for her opinion: "Do you have a good idea? Should we blow out her eyeballs or splatter her brains? I have a knife here, should we just chop her up? She's going to die anyway, it's all up to you what you want to do, and I'll do it."
Mo Fei cried loudly, but when she heard that someone was going to kill someone, she quickly spoke up to stop them, "No, no, no, how about we hand it over to the teacher and the police?"
"Yes, yes!" Yu Tang immediately nodded in agreement, "Let's call the police!"
Chen teased the two of them for being naive. Police? Sure, he'd make sure the police took good care of them.
Yu Tang asked Chen Diao to take Mo Fei home first. As soon as Mo Fei got home, she hugged her mother and cried.
Yu Tang stood at the door of Mo Fei's house, watching as Mo Fei's mother hugged her daughter tightly, and Mo Fei's father rushed out of the house, frantically patting his daughter's back. Mo Fei's crying gradually subsided as she was gently comforted by her parents.
She gripped her backpack strap tightly. The warmth of being embraced by her parents at the same time was probably like the feeling when her brother touched her hair.
Yu Tang felt a pang of sadness. What was it like to be loved by her parents? It must be the same as how her brother loved her, right? With her parents around, it seemed like it wasn't her place to comfort Mo Fei. Yu Tang left silently, her shadow stretched long by the streetlights, making her look exceptionally lonely.
Back in the car, Yu Tang looked at Chen Diao, who was fiddling with his phone in the driver's seat. Chen Diao was reporting Yu Tang's affair to Yu Chaoxian.
Yu Chaoxian was on his way to Fuzhou when he saw the message and was immediately displeased. Why did this aunt have to meddle with someone he had no connection with at all? Why didn't she think about asking him how he was doing out there? Wasn't she afraid he might die of thirst in the desert?
"Did Yu Chaoxian send you to protect me?" A weak voice suddenly came from the back seat.
Chen Diao nearly threw his phone away. "What? What did you call Brother Xian?"
Yu Tang guessed that the "Brother Xian" he was talking about was Yu Chaoxian. He had taught her to call him Brother Xian when she ran errands for him to get wine before.
Based on age, it would be appropriate for her to call Yu Chaoxian "brother," but given the seniority, she couldn't just call him that. Besides, she only had one brother, Yu Yanting, and she didn't want anyone else to take that position.
“That’s right,” Yu Tang said, remembering that Yu Chaoxian wasn’t around. She mustered her courage and blinked her beautiful eyes. “Was it Yu Chaoxian who asked you to protect me?”
Even after leaving, Yu Chaoxian arranged for someone to follow her, which touched Yu Tang deeply, showing that Yu Chaoxian still cared about her as family. This also demonstrates that Yu Chaoxian's promise to protect her to his brother was not just empty talk.
Chen Diao, in the driver's seat, held his phone, a triumphant look on his face. He sent the video of Yu Tang calling Yu Chaoxian's name to his boss.
The eldest son has raised a heartless wretch; he should be thrown away as soon as possible to prevent the eldest son from becoming the second Uncle Yu.
Yu Chaoxian received the video shortly afterward.
The carriage was dimly lit, and Yu Tang's school uniform collar was slightly askew, revealing a section of her snow-white neck. Strands of hair fell beside her cheeks, making her small face appear even more delicate. She pursed her lips, and the bright red color of her lips stood out in the darkness, even more vibrant than if she had applied lipstick.
"Yu Chaoxian..."
Her voice was soft and clear as she called his name. Her fingers, resting on her skirt, unconsciously clenched and unclenched.
Yu Chaoxian forgot to smoke his cigarette; a long ash had accumulated in his hand. How many times had she dared to call him by his full name? This was the third time she'd called him by his full name.
Yu Chaoxian is Yu Chaoxian, that's fine, but when she says it, those three words sound different, with the last syllable drawn out softly.
Yu Chaoxian's Adam's apple bobbed silently, as cigarette ash fell softly onto his suit trousers. He suddenly remembered that night when she clung to him, soaking wet, her slender arms wrapped around his neck, her waist twisting restlessly in his hands, questioning where he was looking. The hands that covered his eyes did nothing to hide anything; the glimpses of her beauty peeking through her fingers were even more unbearable than if he had seen her directly.
Where to look? Of course, look at the waist that was bent into an arc in his hands, look at the skin glistening with water after the towel slipped off, look at the pitiful look on her face when she unconsciously raised her waist in a panic, as if she were offering herself up and feeding herself into his mouth.
How dare they so brazenly question him about what he was looking at?
What could he possibly see? Of course, he could see her thoroughly.
Yu Chaoxian only came to his senses when the cigarette butt burned his fingertip.
He stared blankly at his reflection in the car window, then suddenly chuckled softly.
It was at this moment that he realized he had been lost in thought, thinking about Yu Tang.
