Chapter 9 The patient girl wiped her tears haphazardly with the back of her hand, her eyelashes glistening...
Yu Chaoxian's arm was resting on the sofa armrest, his muscles were smooth and powerful, and Yu Tang immediately thought of the memory of Yu Chaoxian grabbing her neck and throwing her off.
She glanced again at the pitch-black night.
"Then, let's watch TV instead." A sense of tension welled up in Yu Tang's heart and showed in her eyes, which were red. She was so scared that she would burst into tears if Yu Chaoxian said another word.
Fortunately, Yu Chaoxian's gaze was fixed on the animated television show and he wasn't looking in her direction, which relieved a lot of her psychological pressure.
The aroma of candy wafted over, and Yu Chaoxian knew it was Yu Tang without even turning around. Yu Chaoxian had worked at the company's candy factory before, and none of the employees smelled of candy like her.
Her petite figure settled down, entering the area covered by Yu Chaoxian's arm. It was such a short distance, yet it took her two minutes. Excellent; it seems those two legs really were just for show.
Only then did Yu Chaoxian finally look at her properly. Yu Tang changed into loose, comfortable pajamas; the light blue skirt reached below her knees, revealing her two fair and slender legs.
It's not even as thick as his arm.
Breaking it is really easy.
Unaware of Yu Chaoxian's thoughts, Yu Tang sat down in a small corner on the edge of the sofa, her fingers holding the fruit plate slightly aching: "Xiao...Xiao Xian, would you like some fruit?"
Xiao Xian? What are you shouting for? But at least you know to ask him if he wants fruit, which shows you're more sensible than when he was little.
Although he hadn't seen Yu Tang many times when she was little. The first time they met, he threw candy on the ground, and she picked it up; the second time, she bit his leg, and the mark is still there to this day; the third time, she touched his mother's flowers, and he almost threw her out the window. In short, none of them were pleasant memories.
"Why are you so far away?" the man's displeased voice rang out.
Yu Tang lowered her head, and the soft strands of hair behind her ears fell down. She said aggrievedly, "Didn't you warn me not to get close to you, and to stay a meter away from you forever?"
Yu Chaoxian had forgotten about this incident, but this little aunt is quite vengeful and remembers it clearly.
Remembering Yu Yanting's conditions, he pointed to the seat next to him: "Sit here."
Yu Tang seemed not to hear, sitting motionless in the corner. Yu Tang had a bottom line in her mind; entering within a meter of Yu Chaoxian seemed to mean certain death.
"If you can't hear it, then don't take it?" Yu Chaoxian tried his best to maintain his patience.
Remembering how Yu Chaoxian had chopped off someone's hand with a switchblade before, Yu Tang was afraid that Yu Chaoxian would cut off her ear as well, so she immediately replied, "Yes, yes!"
That's what she said, but Yu Tang didn't move at all.
Yu Chaoxian sneered: "I'll give you two more choices: do you want your ear cut off, or do you want to come and sit down?"
"I'll go sit there!"
It seemed like a choice was offered, but in reality, there was only one. What kind of aunt would be scolded like that by her nephew? Yu Tang felt she had no dignity as an elder; her eyes reddened, tears welled up, and her lips trembled as if she were about to cry. She wanted to cry, and also wanted to say that she and he weren't really close enough to sit together, but because she didn't dare anger Yu Chaoxian, she obediently sat down... two centimeters away.
Yu Chaoxian remained silent, his fingertips still tapping the sofa. Yu Tang moved a little closer, about three centimeters. Yu Chaoxian lost his patience; he didn't have time to wait for Yu Tang to keep inching closer. "Do you think I'll eat you?"
As soon as the man finished speaking, he grabbed Yu Tang by the shoulders with both hands and threw her aside like a claw machine, breaking the one-meter boundary.
At least from behind, the two appeared to be at a very close distance. Yu Tang glanced up and immediately noticed the necklace Yu Chaoxian was wearing around his neck—a silver chain, though she couldn't tell what was hanging from it.
Sure enough, Yu Yanting, still worried, quickly came to the living room to take a look. The two debt collectors were actually getting along quite well, even sitting on the same sofa. He nodded with satisfaction and said to them, "We can eat in half an hour."
Yu Chaoxian knew his shrewd father was observing from the shadows, and he could also sense the joy in Yu Yanting's tone. How could Yu Chaoxian not understand his father's meaning? It was simply to plan Yu Tang's future early on. When Yu Yanting grew old, the responsibility of taking care of Yu Tang would fall on his shoulders. Now, he was being guided to adapt in advance and repair his relationship with Yu Tang.
Hearing Yu Yanting's footsteps fade into the distance, Yu Chaoxian sneered disdainfully. If Yu Yanting were gone, he would just leave Yu Tang to fend for herself on the street.
Taking care of a child for half a month is enough. Why expect him to support her for the rest of her life?
Yu Chao leaned back on the sofa, casually spreading his arms, his hands positioned right next to the girl's legs, as if he had encircled her in his territory, completely ignoring the fact that Yu Tang beside him was stiff as a statue.
As the warm, damp breath swept over him, Yu Chaoxian frowned, noticing out of the corner of his eye Yu Tang's reddened eyes and nose, and her trembling shoulders. He hadn't done anything yet; he hadn't actually cut off her ears, nor had he abandoned her.
Why are you crying? What do you mean?
Little did she know that Yu Chaoxian was very strong, and his grip was completely unreserved. Yu Tang's shoulder was in a lot of pain from his grip, and Yu Tang even thought that Yu Chaoxian was retaliating against her for complaining and was deliberately trying to crush her shoulder.
"Stop it," Mr. Yu commanded firmly.
Yu Tang took a deep breath. Although she was long past the age of being unable to hold back her tears, in front of Yu Chaoxian, the physiological tears of fear just fell down her cheeks.
Yu Chaoxian used a small silver fork to pick up a strawberry, and the red juice immediately left patterns on the handle of the fork, like fresh blood.
The man's command was crisp and decisive: "Eat."
As Yu Tang watched the strawberry being fed to her, she had no doubt that Yu Chaoxian would use the strawberry as an excuse to stab her throat with a fork. After all, she clearly remembered Yu Chaoxian telling her before he left last time not to let her fall into his hands, or he wouldn't even know how he died.
Now Yu Tang knows, he was stabbed to death. She has no idea how gruesome his death was.
Yu Tang's eyelashes were glistening with tears, making them appear even darker and curlier. Her face looked even whiter than during the day, and her already red lips were bitten until they were even redder.
The girl wiped her tears haphazardly with the back of her hand, her eyelashes wet. "Will I die if I don't eat?"
Yu Chaoxian wanted to crack open this high school student's skull to see what was going on. With such comprehension, how could she even listen to lectures? He had fed her strawberries; how could this possibly kill her?
She's not very bright, and her eyesight is bad too. Eating strawberries isn't like I'm asking her to swallow a fork; that weird expression on her face—if her biased dad sees it, he'll definitely think I'm bullying her.
Yu Chaoxian suppressed his anger and said in a self-righteous tone, "If you eat it, you won't die."
The girl opened her mouth, and tears entered her mouth before the strawberries. She chewed them and only tasted saltiness.
"The condition that you don't die is that you're not allowed to cry," Yu Chaoxian added.
“…” Yu Tang dared not cry. She explained, “I’m not crying, it’s just that water is flowing from my eyes… Waaah, brother—”
Before her brother could finish calling out, Yu Tang was covered in the mouth by Yu Chaoxian. This brat was trying to tell on her again.
"Buzz buzz buzz..." The phone on the table vibrated. Yu Chaoxian covered Yu Tang's mouth with one hand and picked up the phone with the other.
It was Chen Diao calling.
When the call connected, the person on the other end called out "Boss." Yu Chaoxian grunted in response. Chen Diao reported that everything was proceeding according to plan. After finishing the business, he asked Yu Chaoxian if he wanted to go out for dinner.
Yu Chaoxian glanced down at Yu Tang in his hand, and Yu Tang was looking up at him with her clear black and white eyes. "I'm busy these days."
Yu Tang's tears fell onto Yu Chaoxian's hand. Yu Chaoxian wondered if he was bored to death, not going to see his brothers but instead coaxing a child.
Yu Tang secretly bit Yu Chaoxian's hand, hoping that Yu Chaoxian would feel pain and let go of her.
Noticing the unusual sensation in her palm, Yu Chaoxian looked down at her again. The girl quickly lowered her panicked gaze. Had he bitten her too hard? Otherwise, why would Yu Chaoxian suddenly stop talking?
Yu Chaoxian was puzzled for a moment. What was this crybaby doing? Why was he licking his hand like a dog and grinding his teeth on it?
It's not just the pain, it's the itch.
