Chapter 29. Ill-fitting clothes for pets have a peculiar allure. ...
On the second floor of the base, at the far east end, is Yu Yanting's office. Yu Chaoxian is currently sitting in that seat.
Chen Diao also learned from Mickey that the boss had postponed his trip to Killaria. Both Chen Diao and Mickey had their own answers as to why it was postponed.
Chen Diaoxian reported: "Guan Zhongpeng has given all the details. We have people watching the sanatorium where he and his mother are staying. Mickey is keeping an eye on the armored vehicle order. It will take about six days to get to Killaria. Because of the time difference, the boss will have to leave close to midnight a week from now."
"Hmm, where's the information?" Yu Chaoxian lit a cigarette and tapped his finger on the table.
Chen Diao immediately took out the organized files and hard drive from the drawer behind him.
I looked through the shipping records of several of the Yu family's export companies and also checked the situation of the newly established medical institutions.
The export company was naturally there to transport weapons, but it also transported a lot of supplies to the battlefield; however, the supplies were riddled with guns.
However, the speed at which these medical institutions, which were established to launder their businesses, were set up far exceeded their expectations.
It seems that Yu Yanting is really keeping a close eye on this project.
However, Yu Chaoxian has another plan at the moment.
After finishing his business in Killaria, he plans to go to Virginia to establish a mining company, ostensibly to help with local mining, but in reality, he'll follow in Li Xiang's footsteps.
There is always a government need for mineral resources.
That would inevitably lead to government officials contacting him, saving him the trouble of making the contact himself.
Chen brought over the coffee, put it down, and left. Yu Chaoxian sat there all morning, reviewing every route of his past business dealings.
Yu Tang woke up rubbing her eyes, which were swollen from either sleeping or crying. There were unfamiliar white walls, a monotonous light bulb, and simple sheets and blankets.
Everything in the room was new to her, but the familiar smell told her that this was Yu Chaoxian's room.
Sure enough, there was a familiar black hoodie on the bedside table.
Yu Tang threw off the covers, and a cool breeze swept over her. She was only wearing a dress, which wasn't enough to keep out the chilly mountain wind.
As soon as she stepped out of the room, Yu Tang recognized the place. When she was little, Yu Yanting had brought her to the base a few times. She wasn't familiar with other places, but she knew Yu Yanting's office.
The office door wasn't closed, and Yu Tang immediately saw that Yu Chaoxian was still there, not rushing to catch his flight. A warm feeling welled up in Yu Tang's heart, and her previously uneasy heart calmed down. Yu Chaoxian must have considered her family too; this was a moment when they both needed each other's company the most, which was why Yu Chaoxian stayed to keep her company.
Yu Chaoxian saw her standing at the door wearing her own hoodie. The hoodie was too big and hung loosely, only revealing a bit of the edge of her skirt, which made her body look even thinner.
Ill-fitting clothes have a special kind of allure.
The parts touching the person show movement, while the empty spaces reveal the clothes fluttering, creating an ambiguous, tantalizing effect. But it doesn't matter; the time isn't right yet. Especially since Yu Tang's clothes are still his, it's like a silent declaration: Yu Tang is his.
"What are you staring at?" Yu Chaoxian put down the documents in his hand and beckoned her over.
It's no different from calling a pet.
Yu Tang stood in front of Yu Chaoxian, the back of her neck held by him. She couldn't quite put her finger on what was wrong, but the aura behind her was incredibly aggressive, so strong that she could feel it even without turning her head. Yu Tang shifted slightly to the side, creating some distance.
Yu Chaoxian simply picked her up and sat her on the desk, manually turning her chin so she was facing him. She always liked to scan him with her big eyes, but now that he'd looked at her, she was looking elsewhere.
Her eyes were red and swollen from crying, just like a rabbit's.
"What have you taken a fancy to this time?" Yu Chaoxian asked.
"I want to drink water." Yu Tang couldn't see any water anywhere.
Yu Chaoxian poured her some ice water.
Yu Tang stared at the ice water without saying a word or picking it up to drink, until Yu Chaoxian looked up at her again, at which point Yu Tang lowered her head and said, "I want to drink hot water."
This is troublesome, so troublesome. Yu Chaoxian kept staring at her. Yu Tang felt uneasy under his gaze, and she had a feeling that sooner or later Yu Chaoxian would lose his temper and strangle her.
"I'm not drinking anymore." Yu Tang met his impatient gaze and tried to jump off the table, but Yu Chaoxian fixed both of her legs in his knees. The scorching heat immediately invaded her legs through the man's suit pants.
Yu Tang felt extremely uncomfortable; the feeling was incredibly strange.
"Chen Diao, go get some hot water." Yu Chaoxian picked up the phone and spoke to Chen Diao, but his gaze didn't leave Yu Tang's face. "Take the thermos from the car and go over there."
The hot water was specially prepared by Chen Diao in the kitchen. With the training in full swing at the base every day, who would drink hot water? Everyone would rather soak in ice water.
The cook came over with a thermos and, seeing that it was a girl who wanted to drink, kindly put the thermos in her hand: "Are you worried about menstrual cramps? Drinking hot water is better for your health."
Yu Tang looked at the auntie gratefully and said, "Thank you, Auntie."
When Yu Chaoxian returned after finishing his cigarette, he heard someone say "menstrual cramps." The auntie, after delivering the water, nodded to Yu Chaoxian and left.
Yu Chaoxian frowned and asked, "What do you mean? Where does it hurt?"
Yu Tang pursed her lips and remained silent.
It's annoying. Sometimes he talks too much, and sometimes he doesn't say a word, which is even more annoying. It's impossible to know what this high school student is thinking. You have to guess everything.
Chen Diao, who was following behind Yu Chaoxian, rolled around in the women's den and quickly understood what "menstrual pain" meant. He leaned close to his boss's ear and said, "Miss Yu is probably about to have her period and is feeling a little uncomfortable."
After saying that, he consciously returned to his office.
Yu Chaoxian glanced at Yu Tang's bright red ear tips and then asked, "Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?"
"I'm not hungry. What time should we go back?" Yu Tang shook her head. She had no appetite and wanted to go back to the hospital to see her brother. "I want to see how my brother is recovering."
Yu Chaoxian frowned. He could clearly eat so much, but now he said he wasn't hungry, and he hadn't forgotten to care about the unconscious Yu Yanting.
Why didn't I think to ask him if he had eaten?
That's normal. Yu Chaoxian thought about it again. After all, Yu Yanting had raised her for so long, and Yu Tang wasn't really an ungrateful wretch. She had to give her some time to adjust.
Fortunately, he has plenty of time now, so he can give her time.
Yu Tang continued, "Tomorrow is Monday, I have to go to school, I can't fall behind in my studies."
Yu Chaoxian's lowered gaze fell on her hands. The wide sleeves only revealed a little bit of her fair fingertips resting on the table. When she mentioned going to school, her fingertips gripped the edge of the table with a bit of force.
This is really strange. People who used to try to skip class by being clever are now voluntarily going to school.
Alright, he was originally thinking that he would have to deal with things at the base this week, and he wouldn't have much time to spend with her if he brought her here. Now that Yu Tang has taken the initiative to go to school, it's just right. He can drop her off in the morning, go to the base, and then pick her up from school in the afternoon.
“Okay, have some water first, we’ll go back this afternoon.” Yu Chaoxian didn’t think much about it, since he’d have plenty of time to keep it with him later.
Yu Tang took the cup. She had been crying so much that she was really thirsty, and she quickly finished the cup of water.
Chen Diao bought some food: mango sticky rice, sweet and sour pork with pineapple, banana pancakes, and seafood porridge—basically, all sweet things that little girls like to eat.
As soon as he entered the second-floor stairwell, he saw a bold figure sitting on the desk.
That little aunt actually sat on the desk? What kind of spoiled brat is the boss trying to get her into? Aren't those sofas enough for her little body?
Even Yu Bo has never been this indulgent!
After seeing Chen Diao put down the food and go into the office next door, Yu Tang turned to Yu Chaoxian and asked, "Where's Uncle Guan? Did he take leave? Why haven't I seen him?"
Previously, Guan Zhongpeng always worked in the office next to his brother's, but now Chen Diao doesn't seem to be coming out, suggesting that Guan Zhongpeng's position has been taken over by Chen Diao.
She has quite a few people she cares about, including Guan Zhongpeng.
Yu Chaoxian glanced at her, then continued looking down at the documents: "His mother is sick, so we gave him a leave to visit her."
So that's how it is. I didn't expect Yu Chaoxian, who seems cold and unapproachable, to be so humane in these matters. Uncle Guan has been very good to her. When she was in kindergarten in Hong Kong, Uncle Guan always picked her up and protected her. So hearing that Yu Chaoxian is so good to Guan Zhongpeng puts her at ease. After all, her brother is sick and definitely can't manage the company, so it's normal for Yu Chaoxian to take over. I guess he'll be so busy he won't be home often in the future.
Yu Tang picked up a banana pancake and asked Yu Chaoxian if he wanted some, and as expected, she received the same answer as that day: "Eat yours and mind your own business."
Yu Tang muttered softly, "You're not just anyone."
The voice was very soft, and Yu Tang didn't dare to talk back loudly. Yu Chaoxian looked at her with a subtle expression.
Yu Tang originally wanted to sit in the lounge next door to eat, but then she heard Yu Chaoxian's cold voice from behind: "That's for meetings."
Besides Yu Chaoxian's seat, there was only one other chair next to him. Since the lounge was off-limits for food, Yu Tang set her sights on the somewhat out-of-place chair next to him, which she didn't know had been placed there at some point.
“Can I eat on the chair next to you?” she asked.
Yu Chaoxian didn't look at her. "Whatever."
Yu Tang spread out the wrapping paper, taking up only a small portion of the space, afraid of soiling his documents.
Yu Tang ladled out a bowl of seafood porridge for Yu Chaoxian, glancing at it tentatively, her eyes seeming to say, "Try it, it's delicious, would you like a bowl?"
She's quite obedient, so concerned about whether he's hungry. Yu Chaoxian raised an eyebrow and granted her wish, picking up the spoon and taking a sip.
Then Yu Tang ladled out another bowl and looked like she was about to carry it out.
Where to?
Yu Tang thought that Chen Diao had bought all of these things and she hadn't thanked him yet, so she wanted to serve him a bowl as well. She pointed to Guan Zhongpeng's former office and said, "Send one here too."
“No need,” Yu Chaoxian said expressionlessly. “Come here and eat yours.”
Yu Tang thought that Yu Chaoxian must be annoyed that she was disturbing Chen Diao's work, so she obediently sat back down next to him, finished a banana pancake, and then started eating mango sticky rice.
She ate the same way as before. Her small mouth was bulging, and she chewed slowly, carefully considering which food to eat next.
This is no different from having a pet.
This was the first time he had raised both a pet and a person, and Yu Chaoxian figured it wouldn't be too difficult. He fed her when she was hungry, gave her water when she was thirsty, let her rest in the house when she was tired, and bought her clothes when she wanted to dress up.
By the way, her skin is still very delicate after crying; she probably still needs skincare products. Girls are always more precious and refined than boys.
He can satisfy all needs anyway.
Yu Tang had been stared at for a long time. She guessed that Yu Chaoxian wanted another bowl of seafood porridge, so she served him another bowl and placed it in front of him.
Upon eating the sweet and sour pork with pineapple, Yu Chaoxian noticed that Yu Tang's eyes, which had just recovered from swelling, began to redden again, and tears streamed down her face.
"Yu Tang, what do you mean? Why are you crying over a meal?"
Looking at the plate of sweet and sour pork with pineapple, Yu Tang choked up and said, "My brother used to make this dish for me all the time."
It's Yu Yanting again.
Yu Chaoxian was too lazy to talk to her, and he knew what she was thinking: "Alright, I'll go there early this afternoon so you can go to the sanatorium to see your brother."
Yu Tang wiped away her tears with the back of her hand, and ingratiatingly placed a piece of pineapple on Yu Chaoxian's plate. She then ate a piece of meat.
In the next room, Chen Diao was standing on tiptoe, clinging to the wall like a gecko.
"What are you doing?" Mickey's voice suddenly rang out from behind.
Chen Diao was startled and almost fell off his chair. He quickly put his index finger to his lips and said, "Shh—"
Mickey stood at the door with his arms crossed, saying, "You're in big trouble if the boss finds out you're eavesdropping."
Chen Diao winked at the room next door: "Stop pretending. I don't believe you can't tell that something's off between the boss and her."
Mickey frankly said, "Can you control whether it rains or not? So can you control which woman the boss wants?"
Chen Diao's eyes widened. No wonder they were foreigners; their thinking was so open. "Do you foreigners do things this wildly?"
Mickey didn't want to waste words with Chen Diao; he wanted to go in and report the mission status to Yu Chaoxian.
To everyone's surprise, when Yu Tang saw Mickey come in, her eyes lit up, and her voice became even lighter than before as she called his name: "Mickey!"
Mickey nodded to her. In that instant, Mickey keenly sensed something was amiss and glanced at his boss, Yu Chaoxian, out of the corner of his eye.
The man's face remained calm, but his gaze was fixed intently on the back of Yu Tang's head.
Yu Tang had only met Mickey once before, and Mickey hadn't gone into the hospital last night, but she recognized him immediately today. It was the first time he had picked Yu Tang up from school, and Yu Tang tilted her head and looked him over for a long time before she recognized him.
Little did Yu Tang know that she remembered Mickey because the name "Mickey" sounded like a mouse.
“Yu Tang.” A harsh tone.
