After receiving treatment at the hospital, Shi Jing, Qi Shuang, and Qi Yan still needed to give statements. However, since Shi Jing was the victim, they did not rush her.
Led by Lin's mother and Jiang's mother, the three of them went to the police station with the adults and the police car.
The person who assaulted the man has been detained. At the police station, the manager of Tianyuyi has finished giving his statement and gone home. The thin young man is still sitting on the bench at the police station, surrounded by busy police officers. He sits there alone, seemingly lost in thought.
When Shi Jing and the others went in, they made quite a commotion. The boy looked up at them and then stood up.
Lin's mother glanced at him, then looked at her daughter. Qi Shuang whispered in her mother's ear, "That boy is the one who got into trouble at the store back then."
Lin's mother nodded; she already knew what had happened from the police. She didn't look back, but followed the policewoman inside.
The boy watched but didn't follow.
As a victim, and with clear surveillance footage at the scene, Shi Jing's statement was taken quickly. After the statement was taken, the police officer earnestly advised her that if she encountered a similar conflict in the future, she should not act impulsively, but should instead seek help from an adult or the police.
The policewoman had already given him a lecture, and now he was being lectured again by the police officer. Shi Jing quickly nodded and admitted his mistake: "I know, police officer, I won't do it again next time."
She left the interrogation room to find Qi Shuang and Qi Yan already having their statements taken and waiting for her. She didn't need to worry about anything else; she could leave everything to Secretary Wang, whom her father had arranged.
"Uncle Wang, I'm leaving the rest to you."
Secretary Wang smiled and replied, "Miss, it's my duty. Please go back and rest."
"Thank you." Shi Jing was about to say goodbye when the phone rang again. When Shi Jing answered it, it was Ms. Yan, whom he hadn't been able to contact before, calling.
Shi Jing answered the phone, and Ms. Yan's slightly languid voice came through.
"Xiaojing, is there something you need to call your mother about?"
"Mom," Shi Jing responded, then thought for a moment and said, "I ran into some trouble outside today and I'm at the police station now."
Ms. Yan was startled and quickly asked, "At the police station? What happened? Are you alright?"
"There's a minor abrasion, nothing serious. I've already gone to the hospital," Shi Jing replied truthfully.
Ms. Yan's urgent voice came through: "Which police station are you at? Mom will come pick you up right now."
"Mom, I can go back by myself..."
Ms. Yan interrupted her: "Listen to me, Mom will come pick you up. Send me the location of the police station, and I'll go there now."
Seeing that Ms. Yan insisted, Shi Jing did not object anymore, agreed, and sent the location.
Qi Shuang and Qi Yan were about to go home, and both mothers offered to take them. She then told them that Ms. Yan was coming to pick her up and politely declined.
After saying goodbye to Secretary Wang, the group walked out together. When they reached the service hall, Shi Jing was surprised to find that the young man was still there. He saw her and tried to approach, but hesitated when he saw her surrounded by several people.
Shi Jing saw the group off at the main entrance before turning around and walking back into the service hall. The slender young man was still standing there.
She walked over, and the boy opened his mouth as if to say something, but seemed hesitant about whether he should get closer.
Shi Jing, however, had no such concerns and went straight to the chair next to the boy and sat down.
The boy was so reserved and seemed to have very little interaction with people; he looked more like a socially awkward person than a young entertainer.
After Shi Jing sat down, the boy hesitated before speaking, "Um... I'm sorry, today..."
Shi Jing looked at him, and the boy seemed even more flustered.
"I'm sorry I caused you to get hurt today."
It turned out that the person had stayed behind all this time because they wanted to say this, which Shi Jing hadn't expected.
She quickly shook her head: "It's okay, it's not your fault."
If we're really talking about who's at fault, then her mistake was more serious. She acted impulsively and made too many assumptions. If she hadn't provoked them, the other person wouldn't have acted so rashly and hit her.
Of course, that's a story for another time. From Shi Jing's perspective, the one who was truly terribly wrong was naturally that man.
The boy only said one sentence before running out of things to say. After all, although they had met several times, they had never truly communicated.
Shi Jing thought for a moment and asked, "I accidentally made a big fuss today. Will your store be upset with you?"
She only thought of this later; she had been injured in the store, and the store might take its anger out on the person who caused the trouble.
The boy shook his head: "No, the store manager and the others are very nice."
But they didn't say anything more, and it's unclear whether this incident will affect the man's job.
The boy sat with Shi Jing for a while, and neither of them spoke again. The boy would occasionally check his phone, but he didn't answer any calls. Shi Jing figured he probably had a lot on his plate right now.
"My mom will pick me up in a bit. If you need anything, you can go ahead. This is a police station, it's very safe, you don't need to worry."
The boy hesitated for a moment, then his phone rang again. Finally, he said goodbye to Shi Jing, grabbed his phone, and left.
