Chapter 72 Reencounter with Fang Ning

On the second day after returning to school, Shi Hai, for the first time ever, called her to come back for dinner. He found out that the news of her getting into the second year of junior high school had reached her. Feeling very proud, Shi Hai wanted to invite the protagonist back for a meal.

Shi Jing quickly refused.

It's just a meal, who knows what kind of trouble might arise? Besides, she's going to participate in the Mathematical Olympiad in a few days, she doesn't have time to deal with this.

When Shi Hai heard that she had another competition, he didn't press her for an answer. He just sighed with regret, "I was going to introduce you to some uncles and elders, but since you don't have time, we'll have to wait until next time."

Upon hearing this, Shi Jing felt relieved that she had refused immediately.

After attending classes diligently for a week, Shi Jing set off again on the 13th, led by her teacher. This time, Shi Jing wasn't alone; her school's provincial first-prize winner in the math Olympiad and a senior student from the second year of high school also joined the trip.

Shi Jing had been here once before, so she was quite familiar with the place. When she arrived at the Central Gymnasium, she registered her name, contact information, and other details at the registration desk, and then took the room key she was assigned to the accommodation area.

As I walked, I suddenly saw something lying on the ground ahead. It was a thin sheet of paper, but the paper looked quite good; it didn't seem like waste paper, but rather something useful.

Shi Jing stepped forward, picked up the item, and found it to be a household registration page!

Upon closer inspection, she saw that the name Fang Ning was clearly written on the household registration page.

Fang Ning? Is this the Fang Ning she knows? Shi Jing was a little curious, and her gaze slid down to Fang Ning's personal information, address, etc.

The first thing you see is Fang Ning's birth date: May 20, 2014.

What a coincidence, his birthday is in a few days.

Suddenly her gaze settled, fixed on one of the lines, where five characters were neatly written: "Welfare Home Care".

Welfare home?

Shi Jing's gaze shifted to the address, which only had a simple street address and house number, making it impossible to tell what the place was for. But Shi Jing knew that this was most likely the address of the orphanage.

So Fang Ning was actually a child from an orphanage?

Shi Jing felt a pang of pity when she thought of the thin, small child who was not yet fourteen years old.

Fang Ning is so smart, already a soon-to-be college student at such a young age. If it weren't for his stutter, he probably would have been adopted long ago...

"Time Mirror, mine."

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang in his ears. Shi Jing subconsciously looked up and saw the owner of the household registration page standing in front of him. The small face was a little pale, the eyes were slightly evasive, but the hand was stubbornly outstretched.

Shi Jing handed over the household registration page without hesitation, her attitude remaining the same as usual.

"What a coincidence, Fang Ning. I didn't expect to see you again so soon."

It was probably Shi Jing's attitude that gave him a sense of security. He put away his household registration page and a relaxed smile appeared on his face.

"What a coincidence!"

"I just arrived. Have you packed your things yet?"

"No, no."

Shi Jing realized that he probably returned to his residence and discovered that the item was missing, so he hurriedly went out to look for it again.

As the two were talking, Shi Jing's senior, who had finished the formalities, came over. Upon seeing Shi Jing from afar, he greeted her, "Shi Jing, why didn't you go back to your dorm?"

"Senior, I just ran into a friend, we'll chat for a bit, and then I have to go."

After saying that, he looked at Fang Ning and said, "Let's go, Fang Ning. Go back and get ready first. We'll have dinner together later."

Fang Ning couldn't refuse anyone, so she stammered and agreed.

The three of them walked together towards the dormitory area, each returning to their own residence.

When Shi Jing arrived at the dormitory, his roommate was already there, organizing her books. His roommate was from M province; she had a healthy, tanned complexion, was very tall, and her smile revealed strikingly white teeth.

After entering, Shi Jing greeted everyone and then put down his luggage.

"Hello, I am Shi Jing."

The girl smiled happily when she saw Shi Jing, and quickly introduced herself when she heard Shi Jing greet her.

"Hello, my name is Qi Wenzhu, nice to meet you."

After tidying up, it was already three o'clock. There was still some time before the restaurant opened for dinner, so Shi Jing simply opened her email.

On the way here, Zhang Ningyuan sent her a message saying that Director Chen had made some adjustments to the script for that campus drama, and he had sent the revised script to her email.

Shi Jing doesn't really understand this either, and he doesn't have enough time, so he can only take a look in his spare time.

Zhang Ningyuan even suggested that she hire a few employees because of this. Shi Jing herself had also thought about this. As she invests in more projects in the future, she won't have time to manage them while she's in school. However, since she is still a minor, she can only keep a low profile and wait until she comes of age.

She only skimmed the script and thought the plot was pretty good. She focused on the character Qi Shuang, the third female lead, the male lead's twin sister, a lively and beautiful character who is quite likable. The ending wasn't very happy, but if it's well-made, it should be quite popular.

Shi Jing didn't think there was anything wrong, so he simply closed the file.

It wasn't until almost five o'clock that Shi Jing turned off her computer and went out with Qi Wenzhu.

As soon as the two arrived on the first floor, Shi Jing saw Fang Ning standing obediently in the lobby. His body was ramrod straight, but his head was slightly lowered, and it was unclear how long he had been standing there.

Shi Jing quickly took a few steps and called out to them.

"Fang Ning."

"Shi Jing." Fang Ning greeted her obediently when he saw her.

"Why are you standing here? How long have you been out?"

"Just, just arrived."

Shi Jing thought about it and realized that Fang Ning was right. He had only said that they would have dinner together in the evening, but he hadn't said what time they would meet. Fang Ning didn't have a cell phone, so he had to come out early to wait for her.

"It's my fault. I'll make sure to agree on the time next time." Shi Jing said, glancing at her phone. "My senior said he'll be here soon. Let's wait for him a little while."

The senior came down quickly, and Shi Jing waved to him. The group quickly reunited.

Shi Jing introduced the group, and everyone got to know each other. When they learned that Fang Ning, like Shi Jing, was participating in more than one project, they were full of praise.

Fang Ning felt everyone's kindness and her face turned red.

The week-long math Olympiad summer camp went very smoothly. There were no troublesome students this time, and any disputes were mainly about the topics. The atmosphere was very harmonious.

During the day off, as usual, many people went to the museum, but Shi Jing, having already been there once, did not go again.

Shi Jing had stayed up late doing practice questions the night before, so she woke up late this morning, which was unusual for her. When she woke up, Qi Wenzhu had already left. She picked up her phone and saw that it was almost eight o'clock. The cafeteria was about to close, so she thought about ordering takeout. Her gaze happened to fall on the date: May 20th.

The date looked familiar. She thought for a moment and suddenly remembered that she had seen this date on Fang Ning's household registration page a few days ago; today was Fang Ning's birthday.

Thinking of the words "cared for by an orphanage" on her household registration page, Shi Jing inexplicably ordered a small cake on her phone. After selecting the cake, Shi Jing realized her mistake, but then thought it was no big deal and continued choosing breakfast.
