Chapter 46 Sponsorship

Rong Yu recovered well and felt much better after a night's rest. However, given his hospital stay, he didn't go back to work immediately and asked his tutor for leave.

Shi Jing watched him make one phone call after another and realized that he had actually taken on tutoring jobs from three different companies, two hours a day for each. Not counting travel time, those lessons alone would amount to six hours.

"Brother Yu, aren't you taking on tutoring jobs a bit too often? With so many hours every day, do you even have time to read and study?" Shi Jing couldn't help but ask during lunch.

Although it's summer vacation now, the intensity is still quite high.

Just as Rong Yu was about to speak, Xiao Ming, who had been invited to lunch, blurted out, "Rong Yu is known as a workaholic in our dorm. He studies until midnight every night."

Shi Jing looked over in surprise: "So late?"

Rong Yu glared at Xiao Ming, trying to stop him, but Xiao Ming seemed not to notice. He continued with great pride, "That's right, and he gets up at 5:30 every morning without fail. Everyone admires his perseverance."

Shi Jing was immediately exasperated: "Brother Yu, you're playing with your own health."

Rong Yu touched his nose, having finally managed to get past this issue, but Xiao Ming's few words brought it back to Shi Jing's mind.

"Actually, it's not so bad..."

Rong Yu wanted to say that she was still young and that suffering for a few years was nothing, but when Shi Jing glared at her like that, she subconsciously didn't say it.

Shi Jing would never think that way. There are many people with sub-health conditions these days, but very few are as thin and malnourished as Rong Yu.

She felt this was definitely not going to work; with such a heavy workload, how could she stay healthy if she didn't get enough rest?

“Brother Yu, I…” She thought for a moment before continuing, “Brother Yu, I know a friend whose company sponsors scholarships. I can help you apply for some scholarships.”

Rong Yu was taken aback: "A scholarship?"

“Yes, their company usually sponsors students with excellent grades, and I think you’re a good fit.” Shi Jing remembered hearing Qi Shuang or Qi Yan mention that her brother, Qi Jing, had a company that did similar projects. Even if not, she could find a way to get one.

“That’s not good. There are always other people who need it more. I can pay for my own tuition.”

Xiao Ming listened with a look of exasperation: "Look at you, how could you be so stupid? If you had sponsorship, things would be much easier for you."

Shi Jing was surprised that he would have such a thought, and felt somewhat helpless.

"I can help you find corporate sponsors, or I can lend you money. You can choose one?" Shi Jing didn't argue with him and gave him the two options directly.

"Xiao Jing." Rong Yu was about to say something when Shi Jing stopped him. "Brother Yu, I know you don't want to trouble me, but this isn't a problem for me. Your grades are excellent, so you already meet the sponsorship criteria. I'm just helping you make the contact."

Shi Jing paused for a moment before continuing, "You might think I'm being nosy, but I consider you a friend and really don't want to see you wasting your time on these trivial matters. You're so good at your studies and excellent in your major; I believe you can definitely play a more important role in your field."

Upon hearing these words, Rong Yu fell silent.

He also considered Shi Jing a friend, but precisely because of this, he was even more reluctant to have any financial entanglements with her. He was worried that such entanglements would jeopardize their pure friendship, but Shi Jing's words touched him. He clearly realized that Shi Jing genuinely cared about him.

"I..." Rong Yu thought about it seriously before hesitatingly saying, "Xiao Jing, let's give it a try. If it doesn't work, don't force it. Okay?"

“Okay,” Shi Jing readily agreed.

Once Rong Yu agrees, the matter will be settled. Shi Jing is determined to get this done no matter what.

Seeing that the two had reached an agreement, Xiao Ming patted Rong Yu on the back: "That's more like it. You're busy like a spinning top every day, yet your grades are better than ours. How can we accept that? You should focus all your energy on studying, study hard, and then leave us far behind."

Shi Jing burst out laughing at his words.

After a brief encounter, Shi Jing found Xiao Ming to be quite an interesting person, and the two even exchanged contact information.

"Brother Xiao, I'll need your help looking after him for a while."

"You're too kind," Xiao Ming said casually, patting Rong Yu on the shoulder. "Yang Yang and the others aren't here, so you'll have to listen to me from now on."

Rong Yu glared at the drama queen speechlessly.

Shi Jing then chimed in with a joke: "Yeah, Brother Xiao, if he doesn't rest properly, tell me, and we'll all condemn him!"

Rong Yu had no choice but to let the two of them go.

After the meal, Xiao Ming insisted on paying the bill, saying that he couldn't let the young lady pay. The place they ate at wasn't expensive, so Shi Jing didn't argue with him. Anyway, now that she knew their address, she could buy them more food in the future.

Rong Yu didn't want to continue staying in the hotel, and since Xiao Ming was in the dormitory, Shi Jing didn't insist.

She escorted the two of them to their dormitory building and reminded Rongyu not to neglect his health. Rongyu reluctantly agreed to everything.

"You need to be careful on your own. I'm fine now, so you should go home soon."

"I know, don't worry."

After saying a few words, Shi Jing waved goodbye to the two people going upstairs.

Strolling through the campus of Dingda University, one can feel the lush greenery and vibrant life. Occasionally, a student or two walks by, each one brimming with youthful energy and vitality—this is what contemporary college students should be like! Being as skinny as Brother Yu is really not an option, Shi Jing couldn't help but think to himself.

The God of Wealth System rolled its eyes helplessly as it listened to her complaints: "What's the use of complaining so fiercely? When there's a problem, you still come running over without hesitation."

"But my brother's situation is truly miserable!"

A perfectly good college student, burdened with such an artist contract, constantly tormented by his manager, and with a family that seems to care nothing about him.

Rongyu is hardworking and smart enough; otherwise, how many ordinary people could endure this?

Now you know how lucky you are.

"Mmm. At least I've never lacked anything materially, not to mention I have you, my little god of wealth." Shi Jing subtly flattered her.

"Good to know," the system said proudly. "So you should study even harder and strive for excellence every day. Don't waste your good fortune."

"I know, I have been trying my best," Shi Jing quickly replied.

Sure enough, the topic was steered back to encouraging her to study. The little god of wealth really is always concerned about her studies.
