Chapter 164 The Appointed Visit

Caught red-handed while watching the commotion, Shi Jing wasn't too embarrassed. Instead, he raised his hand to greet them!

What a coincidence!

Since we've already been discovered, it's too late to be embarrassed now. We might as well face it openly and honestly.

“It is indeed a coincidence,” Zhao Xunkan said.

As they interacted, Jiang Qingyue and Qi Shuang couldn't help but look over, wondering what was going on.

The waiter came over to clear the table, and Zhao Xunkan, for some reason, walked straight over.

"I'm eating."

“Yes,” Shi Jing said with a smile.

She and Qi Shuang arrived early, and by now they had almost finished eating.

Zhao Xunkan had obviously noticed as well, and chuckled softly, "You're here pretty early."

He didn't seem embarrassed at all and sat down without any hesitation. Jiang Qingyue watched for a while, but didn't come closer; she just listened intently.

"The old man mentioned you the other day. Why don't you come over for a visit?"

When Zhao Xunkan said this, not only were Jiang Qingyue and Qi Shuang shocked, but Shi Jing himself was also very surprised.

What's going on here?

Last year, Shi Jing unintentionally helped the Zhao family patriarch, who reciprocated with a gift. Knowing the patriarch's family background, Shi Jing had no intention of currying favor. But judging from Zhao Xunkan's words, the patriarch seemed to have a rather good impression of her and wanted to maintain a relationship?

Is this just polite talk?

Shi Jing was a little unsure.

Zhao Xunkan seemed to have just come over to freeload a seat, and didn't intend to stay any longer. He got up as soon as he saw that the waiter had finished cleaning up.

"If you have time on the weekend, come over for a visit. You have my phone number and you know my address."

Shi Jing did know the Zhao family's address and phone number; it was brought along with the thank-you gift from the Zhao family's butler last time. Although she accepted it, she never intended to use it.

Since the other party had extended an invitation, Shi Jing couldn't refuse, so he said, "Then I'll have to bother you."

Zhao Xun and Kan returned to their seats. Since they were next door, Qi Shuang didn't ask anything, but occasionally glanced at Shi Jing with a gossipy look.

Shi Jing shook his head and chuckled, "Let's eat quickly."

The person involved is still here; she was just caught eavesdropping. She should be more careful about what she says.

Qi Shuang understood Shi Jing's meaning and quietly gave him an OK sign.

There was nothing wrong with talking about the connection between Zhao Xun and the Kan family, so Shi Jing didn't hide anything. He only introduced it to Shi Jing after they were out of sight of the two men.

"Holy crap, so that was the youngest son of the richest man."

"There should have been photos of this person online."

“It’s not surprising. Having a certain amount of money always makes you more noticeable,” Qi Shuang said. She then asked Shi Jing, “Are you going this week?”

"Go ahead, you've already agreed."

Shi Jing said he was going to visit the Zhao family, but he was unsure what to bring. It was just a simple visit to the elders, but he really didn't have much experience in this area.

After much deliberation, Shi Jing decided to buy a box of decent quality tea. The price wasn't particularly high, but it would still be useful.

Before going, she contacted Zhao Xunkan to confirm and declined his suggestion to arrange a car to pick her up, instead driving herself there.

There were quite a few cars on the road on Sunday afternoon, but thankfully it wasn't too congested. The Zhao family lived in a villa area, which was conveniently located, and Shi Jing arrived in just half an hour.

The villa area has very strict property management. Shi Jing could see from afar that there was a security guard standing guard at the gate. As the car got closer, he discovered that there were two other security guards in the guardhouse. All three of them were in their thirties or forties, in the prime of their lives.

As soon as the car approached, the security guards in the security room came out, registered the visitor, and asked for his information.

Shi Jing relayed the message Zhao Xunkan had sent her, and he quickly confirmed that this was a guest whom the Zhao family had contacted in advance. After registering, the automatic barrier slowly rose, and Shi Jing drove in under the watchful eyes of the security guard.

The Zhao family's house wasn't hard to find. The car drove through a lush, green forest road, and a lake came into view in the distance. Zhao Xunkan said his house was right in front of the lake. Shi Jing drove around the lake, and as he drove, he saw a familiar figure standing not far in front of a villa.

Wait, isn't that Zhao Xunkan? Is he coming out to greet her? Is he being so polite?

A few seconds later, Shi Jing saw an old man sitting not far from Zhao Xunkan, and realized that he had been presumptuous.

The old man was sitting intently on a small stool, with all his fishing gear and rods in front of him. He was fishing!

She didn't honk her horn inside the residential area, but slowly stopped not far from Zhao Xunkan. Zhao Xunkan heard the noise and turned around, only to see Shi Jing waving at her through the slowly lowered car window.

Zhao Xunkan took a step forward, then remembered something and looked at the old man not far away: "Grandpa, Miss Shi has arrived."

The old man was engrossed in fishing when he heard his grandson's voice and quickly waved his hand, saying, "Hey, hey, be gentle, be gentle, it's about to bite!"

“…” Zhao Xunkan sighed, then ignored the old man and turned to walk towards Shi Jing’s car, getting into the passenger seat. “Let’s drive the car into the garage first.”

Following her directions, Shi Jing parked the car in the Zhao family's parking lot. After getting out of the car, he casually took out the gift he had brought for the old man.

"Why are you bringing things for Grandpa? He'll scold you again if he sees them."

"It's my first time visiting Grandpa Zhao, so I should just show some courtesy," Shi Jing said with a smile.

Zhao Xunkan was not one to be bound by formalities, but upon hearing Shi Jing's words, he said nothing more. He took the things from Shi Jing's hands and handed them to the nanny who was waiting quietly to the side.

She then took Shi Jing to the living room to sit down, and asked the housekeeper to bring up drinks and desserts.

"Knowing you were coming, Grandpa specially had tea and snacks made for you. Try them first. Grandpa should be back in a little while."

"Grandpa Zhao likes fishing?" Shi Jing asked, taking a sip of her tea. The tea was clearly specially made by the Zhao family's aunt; it was rich in milk flavor but not too sweet, with a subtle fruity and tea aroma.

Zhao Xunkan sighed helplessly, "Grandpa recently went fishing with some old friends, and he's practicing his skills right now. He went out right after lunch, and we couldn't stop him."

The old man is like a child again, it's not just a saying. Fortunately, the weather was neither too hot nor too cold, and the place where the old man practiced his skills was right in front of the house, so the family didn't object too much.

Fishing in front of his own house means at least his family can keep an eye on him, which is better than the old man sneaking back to the old house by himself again.

"Should we go take a look too?"

"What? You like fishing too?" Zhao Xunkan asked with a surprised look.

Fishing doesn't seem like an activity that a young and pretty girl like Shi Jing would enjoy.
