The joy of seeing her boyfriend tomorrow overshadowed her sleepiness.
Unable to sleep, Yun Shudai picked up her tablet and started drawing the artwork of the Deer God.
I didn't fall asleep until 2 a.m.
I slept until I naturally woke up around 10 a.m. the next day.
Since there was no announcement, An'an didn't urge her to get up; she was downstairs watching TV.
Seeing her come downstairs, he said, "Sister Shushu, when are we leaving? I need to book tickets."
"An'an, why don't you go back first? I..."
"Oh, is Mr. Bai coming?"
Yun Shudai shrugged, silently admitting it.
An An stood up happily and said, "Perfect timing, I'll go see my best friend these next few days."
"An'an, how come your best friend lives in such a far city? You went to the same university?"
"No, we're from the same hometown, from elementary school to high school. It's just that we didn't go to the same university. Later, I joined a talent agency, and she joined a media company here. We can only see each other once a year during the Chinese New Year."
"Go ahead, will you be back tonight?"
“I’m not coming back. She lives outside the Fifth Ring Road, which is quite far. It would waste a lot of time going back and forth. I’ll be staying at my sister’s house for the next few days. That’s perfect…hehe, it’ll give you and Mr. Bai some space.” An’an said as she quickly went inside to pack a few clothes.
Yun Shudai said, "Do you want me to give you a ride?"
Bai Muyin has a car here.
"No need, no need. I'm free anyway, I'll just stroll around and we'll get there."
However, An'an eventually left after having lunch.
The two called a part-time cleaner to cook them a local home-style meal.
After finishing her meal, Yun Shudai was drawing in the living room. An'an cleaned up the dishes and sent a message to her girlfriends.
He left around 1:00 PM carrying a backpack.
Yun Shudai spent two days completing the painting of the little deer god and first registered the copyright.
Then I stretched, went upstairs, lay down on the bed, and fell asleep instantly.
She'd simply forgotten to set a timer, and had no idea how long she'd slept. When she woke up, her hair was a mess, like a child who'd overslept. She stumbled downstairs to find Bai Muyin already in the living room, dressed casually, leaning against the sofa, his eyes holding a hint of autumn afternoon leisure and laziness as he stared at her laptop on the coffee table. Hearing the noise, he looked up, his eyes instantly lighting up with a smile: "Awake?"
Yun Shudai awkwardly tidied her messy hair and said, "When did you arrive? I'm sorry, I forgot to set my watch."
"I just arrived a little while ago, and seeing you sleeping so soundly, I didn't want to disturb you." She gestured with her chin towards the praise on her computer screen, saying, "You drew well. Did you get the results of the competition you participated in last time?"
"It's still under evaluation; the results won't be available until next month."
Bai Muyin got up, took her hand, and asked, "Did you sleep well?"
"Yes, your bed is very soft."
"I'm free today, shall I take you out to play?"
"Okay." After glancing at the time, she quickly added, "I'll go change my clothes."
A dozen minutes later, Yun Shudai, who had been in a mess just moments before, was now wearing a beige short double-breasted Chanel-style top and a French-style khaki skirt. She had applied light makeup and looked radiant.
Bai Muyin helped her tidy her hair behind her cheek, while planning, "Should we eat first, or watch a movie, or go shopping?"
"Let's go to the mall, where we can do everything from shopping and eating to watching a movie."
Bai Muyin chuckled: "Aren't you afraid of being recognized?"
"Wear a mask."
