Chapter Five: Supportive Family Members

While crying, Yun's mother and sister pulled her towards the living room.

It took them a while to figure out what was going on; it turned out to be the female supporting character's family.

My parents, sister and brother-in-law, and my three-year-old nephew all came.

Yesterday I did receive many calls, either from company employees or from colleagues who knew her and wanted to kick her while she was down.

She had just transmigrated and her mind was in a mess, so she turned off her phone and only turned it back on today.

She felt like a puppet as her mother, Yun, lovingly examined the injury on her head: "These people are going too far. It's obvious they hit her with a rock."

That's right. The book says that when Yun Shudai returned from the film set, she was pelted with eggs and milk tea by Jiang Yi's fans at the airport, and that's how she got her head injured.

I didn't dare go to the hospital, so I just had my assistant give me a simple bandage.

Seeing her younger sister like this, Shuran said with heartache, "We called your agent this morning and we know about the breach of contract fee. Shushu, don't do anything foolish because of this little setback."

Mr. Yun, who was standing to the side, took out a bank card from his pocket and said, "Son, you don't need to worry about the money. I've collected some things over the years. I sold two items this morning, and your sister and brother-in-law also helped you raise two million. That's enough for you."

This startled Yun Shudai, as she had never experienced such treatment from her parents in the real world.

I don't know if it's the feelings I have for the female supporting character that's causing this, or if I'm genuinely moved.

Her eyes welled up with tears without her realizing it. If she had family like that around her, she really wouldn't want to go back.

“Mom and Dad, I just put this house on the market. I also have 500,000 yuan on hand. How can I use your money? My brother-in-law is investing in a hotel, and the house has been mortgaged. If I use it, what will happen to his hotel?”

He Lianzhi said, "Don't worry, brother-in-law can manage."

Mr. Yun said, "You just bought this house, and even if you sell it, it won't be worth much money. Don't sell the house. Don't worry about the money. I'll give the money to your brother-in-law after I finish painting that mountain bird calligraphy piece at home."

He Lianzhi, who was standing nearby, quickly stopped him, saying, "Dad, that painting of yours has a high collection value. I'm not in a hurry, but you can't sell it."

For Yun Shudai, who desperately craved family affection in the modern world, encountering such family members who could shield her from the storms of the outside world was an incredibly fortunate thing.

The pent-up emotions inside her erupted at that moment, and tears streamed uncontrollably from her eyes.

When Sister Yun saw her weak appearance, she stood up and scolded her with a look of disappointment, "Why are you crying? What's wrong with you? Even if the whole internet doesn't like you, you still have us."

Besides, why do you care if they like you or not? We're not money. Just live your own lives well and have a clear conscience. Why care about them?

Yun's mother chimed in, "Your father and I went to the Jiang family yesterday, but Old Jiang still doesn't agree to break off the engagement. Your father and I won't back down. We absolutely won't tolerate anyone playing with our daughter's feelings. I shouldn't have agreed to let Old Liang bring you into the entertainment industry in the first place. What's wrong? Are you resentful that your parents made the decision on their own?"

Yun Shudai cried and wiped away her tears, then suddenly burst into laughter, saying, "A little bit, after all, I'm so pretty, and it's understandable that people didn't like me. I must feel disappointed."

Seeing that her daughter could still say these words with humor, Yun's mother secretly breathed a sigh of relief. It was inevitable to be sad, as long as she didn't contemplate suicide: "Being sad is only temporary, no matter how bad it gets."

You can't just walk down that path to your death, you know? You didn't answer the phone all day yesterday, and we were so worried about you.

"This is all our fault. Our families know each other, but we've been separated for so long, the children are grown up, and we don't really understand them anymore. We just got you engaged without really knowing what was going on."

The older sister snorted, "Jiang Yi is a typical scumbag. If he didn't like her, he should have said so earlier. He just kept my sister hanging on like this. She was already engaged, but he was still flirting with other women. Luckily, she hasn't married him yet."

Yun's father patted his daughter's head: "Silly child, we'll take care of everything."

Brother-in-law He Lianzhi held his son's hand and said, "Yes, he's just a man. There are plenty of good men like you, brother-in-law. We'll meet them slowly."

"Auntie, don't cry, and don't die. If you die, no one will buy me presents." The child spoke innocently. At only three years old, he didn't quite understand what death meant. He ran over and hugged Yun Shudai, pleading with her.

The humorous brother-in-law and innocent nephew instantly enlivened the originally dull room, and everyone in the room burst into laughter.

Yun Shudai couldn't help but smile slightly. This feeling of being cared for by her family was so wonderful, comfortable, and relaxing, as if her heart was filled with cotton.

Yun's mother said, "Don't think too much lately. Go out with your sister and brother-in-law to relax. Call the real estate agent right away. We're not selling the house."

Even so, Yun Shudai was still embarrassed to use her parents' and sister's money, so she took out her own 500,000 yuan.

She can't give it to her now; she has to wait for news from Sister Li.
