When Sang Jiang went in, Sang Ruo was already sitting by the window reading medical texts.
She glanced at Sang Ruo, then picked up the pastries on the table and lay down on the soft couch next to her.
Sang Ruo glanced at her and frowned slightly: "You're lying down right after you finished eating?"
With a piece of cake stuffed in her mouth, Sang Jiang mumbled, "There's nothing I can do, I can't gain weight no matter how much I eat."
Sang Ruobai ignored her completely.
After what happened that afternoon, Sang Jiang was too embarrassed to go out for dinner and ate in her room.
The next morning, Sang Jiang got up very early, which was unusual for her. She sneaked into the carriage like a thief and went back to sleep.
Sang Ruo was stunned when she saw her after getting into the carriage.
She kicked Sang Jiang's buttocks and said, "Get up."
"Huh?" Sang Jiang rubbed her eyes, still confused. "What happened? Did we attract a thief?"
Sang Ruo: ...
Sang Jiang opened her eyes, sat up straight, and muttered unhappily, "What is it!"
Sang Ruo glared at her: "Did you go and cheat on me?"
"You're the one who cheated on me." Sang Jiang glared at her and yawned widely.
Sang Ruo: ...
She nudged Sang Jiang, signaling her to move aside.
Kou'er rushed out from inside: "Young Miss, Miss..."
Before she could finish speaking, she saw that Sang Jiang was already sitting steadily inside the carriage.
Kou'er pursed her lips, gave Sang Jiang a resentful look, and then silently sat down next to her, keeping her eyes down and not saying a word.
Sang Jiang was so sleepy that she didn't notice anything wrong with the little girl. The carriage was big enough, so she leaned against it and fell asleep again.
She didn't open her eyes until almost noon.
I don't know if the old man in front of me had suddenly become more observant or if he was just too shaken to handle the jostling, but he walked steadily all morning.
She stretched and yawned, then casually grabbed a piece of pastry from the table and popped it into her mouth. When she looked up, she saw Kou'er looking at her with a resentful expression.
Sang Jiang swallowed the pastry in her mouth and yawned: "What's wrong, baby? Who bullied you?"
Kou'er glanced at her, pouted, and didn't say a word.
Sang Jiang was a little confused. She glanced at Sang Ruo next to her, who immediately turned her gaze to her medical book. She then looked at Wan Qing and Wan Ting, who both looked away as well.
"Oh! So I'm being targeted?"
"Hmph." Kou'er snorted, trying to get her attention.
Sang Jiang smiled and said, "Go ahead."
"Why did you run away alone this morning, Miss? Do you know how scared Kou'er was when you weren't here?" Kou'er said, her eyes reddening instantly, tears welling up in them as if she were about to cry at any moment.
"Oh dear!" Sang Jiang put down the pastries in her hand and moved closer to Kou'er: "Okay Kou'er, I was wrong, okay? Don't worry, I won't do it again."
Kou'er huffed a few times in a haughty manner and half-heartedly forgave Sang Jiang.
Sang Jiang chuckled a few times, picked up the pastry she had put down again, and asked while munching on it, "Sang Ruo, how much longer until we reach Yancheng?"
Sang Ruo placed the medical book on her lap, glanced up, and shook her head: "I'm not sure either, it should be soon."
About fifteen minutes later, the carriage slowed down, and various shouts came from outside.
Sang Jiang pulled back the curtain and looked out curiously. Yancheng was indeed very prosperous. Even before reaching the city center, there were restaurants everywhere, as well as some people from neighboring countries dressed differently from them.
Sang Ruo wasn't particularly interested in these things; she glanced at Sang Jiang and then continued reading her medical books.
Suddenly, Sang Jiang's eyes widened, and she shouted towards the outside of the carriage, "Stop the carriage!"
