Sang Ruo raised an eyebrow as she watched Wan Ting enter. Wan Ting curtsied and said calmly, "Miss, she may know our identities."
Sang Ruo was taken aback: "Then I really underestimated her."
Wanqing immediately exploded: "I told you long ago, this woman is no good! See? She's obviously trying to climb the social ladder! It's outrageous!"
Sang Ruo didn't care about any of that. She yawned and said, "As long as it doesn't hurt us, let it be. It's just another concubine, right? I've never cared about these things. It's just that the Empress is going to be quite busy now."
Wan Ting nodded: "I'll keep an eye on things these next few days."
"Hmm." Sang Ruo nodded and picked up a medical book to start reading.
Sang Jiang was already fast asleep in bed, and Kou'er looked at her sprawled out on her back and was speechless.
While the young lady was a bit infatuated, she never acted so recklessly as she does now.
She walked to the window and gently pulled the blanket up for Sang Jiang.
"Knock, knock, knock." A few very faint knocks came from the window.
Kou'er's eyes lit up. She glanced at Sang Jiang, who was sleeping soundly on the bed, and tiptoed over, afraid of waking her up.
Kou'er gently opened the window and, after seeing the darkness, immediately climbed out.
She looked up at the darkness: "What do you want?"
Dark Night looked down at her small face without saying a word.
Kou'er frowned; she found An Ye's blatant gaze very strange.
Her face felt like it was on fire, and her mouth was dry.
Unable to resist, An Ye reached out and poked her cheek with his finger, then asked softly, "Why is your face so red?"
His voice was very gentle, making Kou'er feel a tickle in her heart, but she didn't show it on her face.
She bristled like a kitten whose tail had been stepped on: "What nonsense are you talking about! Who's blushing! You're the one who's blushing! Why would I blush for no reason!"
She kept her voice very low, afraid of disturbing Sang Jiang, who was sleeping soundly inside.
"Pfft!" Dark Night burst out laughing.
As a bodyguard, he never smiled much, but after meeting Kou'er, he actually started to smile more.
From the moment he first noticed Kou'er, he thought she was adorable. Later, he found her even more adorable the more he got to know her, so he enjoyed chatting with her often.
Kou'er was also particularly naive. Every time Sang Jiang told her that she didn't need to keep watch and could go back to rest, she would secretly hide by Sang Jiang's window and keep watch for her.
They stayed up all night.
Seeing that he was still ignoring her even after laughing, Kou'er frowned even more. She put her hands on her hips and said fiercely, "What are you laughing at! Am I that funny?!"
"No," Dark Night snapped out of his reverie, glanced at her a few times, and answered seriously, "Hmm, quite cute."
Kou'er: ...
"Speak, what do you want from me?"
"Can't I contact you if there's nothing wrong?" His tone revealed a hint of displeasure.
Kou'er glared at him: "If you have something to say, just say it. Don't disturb me while I'm watching my young lady sleep!"
"What's so interesting about her sleeping? Is she more attractive than me?" His words were clearly tinged with a hint of sarcasm.
Kou'er mimicked his earlier manner, carefully examining him for a few moments before slowly speaking under An Ye's expectant gaze: "Hmm, she is indeed prettier than you."
Even the tone of her voice was the same as what An Ye had just said about her.
Dark Night: ...
