Chapter 150 Yang Muchen comforts Yang Mu'an

The maid glanced at him, then lowered her eyes and replied, "It was Second Madam who carelessly threw Miss's cloth into the river. In a fit of anger, Miss kicked Second Madam into the river, and she almost drowned."

The maid briefly recounted the events to him, but the implication was that Yang Mu'an was in the wrong.

"I understand." Yang Muchen nodded and waved to her, indicating that she could leave.

The maidservant curtsied to him and left.

Yang Muchen sighed and walked towards the ancestral hall.

He was skeptical of what the maid said; she might be telling the truth, but he didn't think Yang Mu'an would kick Ding Huizhen into the river for no reason.

To avoid worrying him, Yang Mu'an would pretend to be on good terms with Ding Huizhen, and she would take the blame for any inappropriate behavior Ding Huizhen might do.

Moreover, given Yang Mu'an's character, she would never do such a thing. Although she is usually a bit arrogant, she never loses her temper for no reason. So, after that maid Yang Mu'an sent her to the other courtyard that day, he immediately ordered her to be driven away.

Ding Huizhen must have done something truly unforgivable to her to force her to physically assault her.

Yang Muchen gently pushed open the door of the ancestral hall.

Upon hearing the door open, Yang Mu'an said without turning around, "Take it, I'm not hungry."

Yang Muchen remained silent. He stepped past Yang Mu'an to offer incense to their mother, then knelt down beside her and kowtowed three times before looking at Yang Mu'an.

Looking at Yang Mu'an's red and swollen eyes, the fire in his heart couldn't help but rise rapidly.

He suppressed his anger and patted Yang Mu'an's head: "Brother, send her away?"

Upon hearing this, Yang Mu'an burst into tears. She hadn't expected Yang Muchen to choose to stand by her side without even asking her.

Yang Mu'an opened his mouth, but in the end he only managed to utter one word: "Brother."

She rested her head on Yang Muchen's shoulder and began to sob softly.

Yang Muchen reached out and put his arm around her shoulder, patting it gently.

After a long while, Yang Mu'an finally spoke with red eyes: "Brother, she threw away my Yunjin first."

Yang Muchen nodded: "I know, will you help me get rid of her?"

Yang Mu'an's eyes flickered for a moment. She sniffed and shook her head: "Forget it, I'll get married sooner or later. My brother will also live in a separate courtyard. Let her stay with Father."

Yang Muchen patted her head: "It's okay, I'm here for you."

Yang Mu'an slapped his hand away: "I'm not going to grow any taller!"

She understood everything. She didn't want Yang Muchen to be in a difficult position because of her. Anyway, she was going to get married sooner or later. If she could tolerate it and make things less difficult for Yang Muchen and her father, she was willing to do so.

She knew that her father asked her that question because he wanted to hear her say no. If she said no, he would not punish her anymore, but Ding Huizhen would definitely make a scene about it.

If Yang Muchen wanted to send Ding Huizhen away, his father wouldn't stop him, but after so many years of companionship, it was impossible for him to have no feelings for her; he would definitely feel bad.

Yang Muchen understood what she meant, and he felt a little sore. Over the years, people outside said that Yang Mu'an was spoiled, but only they knew that Yang Mu'an was actually very sensible.

He avoided Yang Mu'an's hand and patted her head twice more: "If you don't grow tall, your brother will keep raising you."

Yang Mu'an pouted: "I don't want to! Even if I agreed, I'm afraid Sister Ruan wouldn't agree!"
