Lord Zhang clenched his fist and then released it: "Your subject dares not."
Sang Jiang nodded: "Please, Lord Zhang."
Lord Zhang followed the two into the hall, and Sang Jiang waved for Chunhe to serve the dishes.
When the dishes were served, Sang Jiang took a couple of bites and put down her chopsticks: "I'm full, I'll go for a bit. Luo Ying, please entertain Lord Zhang for me."
With her back to Lord Zhang, Nangong Luoying made a face at Sang Jiang: "Don't worry, Your Majesty."
Sang Jiang nodded and led Chunhe and Ying'er outside.
After everyone had left, Nangong Luoying turned back to look at Lord Zhang. She moved closer to him and picked up a piece of fish for him, saying, "Lord Zhang, please try this. This dish is excellent."
Lord Zhang glanced at her but didn't even touch his chopsticks: "Princess, have you finished eating? If you have, this humble servant will take his leave."
Nangong Luoying's smile froze instantly. She pursed her lips and looked at Lord Zhang: "Lord Zhang, do you have some misunderstanding about me?"
Lord Zhang remained expressionless as he looked at her: "Princess, you are overthinking it. I dare not."
“Then there is.” Nangong Luoying put down her chopsticks: “Then tell me, what did I do to upset Lord Zhang?”
Lord Zhang sighed: "Princess, I only want to serve the country and have no time to think about romance. If you want to have fun, please find someone else."
"I'm not trying to make fun of you!" Nangong Luoying frowned and spoke without thinking.
Lord Zhang smiled slightly: "But... I have no interest in the princess."
Nangong Luoying stiffened: "Lord Zhang, can you tell me why?"
Lord Zhang suddenly grinned roguishly: "Didn't the princess see everything? Oh, right, give this back to the princess, it smells quite nice."
As he spoke, he pulled out the handkerchief that Nangong Luoying had dropped from his pocket, smelled it at the tip of his nose, and then placed it on the table next to Nangong Luoying.
Nangong Luoying's eyes reddened again: "Am I not even as good as a palace maid?"
Lord Zhang looked at her indifferently and said, "Yes, if you weren't a princess, who do you think would revolve around you?"
Nangong Luoying clenched her fists and glared at Lord Zhang, shouting angrily, "Zhang Yaoqin!"
"Your subject is here," Lord Zhang replied with a smile.
"Get out!" Nangong Luoying trembled as she picked up a porcelain bowl from the table and threw it towards the door.
The porcelain bowl fell to the ground and shattered. Sang Jiang heard the shout and quickly pushed open the door. Just then, the porcelain bowl landed at her feet. Sang Jiang took a step back to avoid being cut.
"What's wrong?" Sang Jiang frowned as she looked at Nangong Luoying's red glasses.
Seeing her was like seeing a pillar of support for Nangong Luoying. She stood up and threw herself into Sang Jiang's arms, crying, "Royal Sister!"
Sang Jiang hugged her and patted her back: "What's wrong?"
Nangong Luoying shook her head, crying and shouting, "Royal sister, make her get out! I never want to see him again! Make her get out!"
Sang Jiang looked up at Lord Zhang and saw him stand up with a blank expression: "Your subject takes his leave."
After saying that, he turned and left.
"Royal sister, waaaaah! I feel so bad!"
Sang Jiang looked at the princess, who had her head down and ears perked up, and said in a deep voice, "Everyone, get out. No one is allowed to talk about what happened today."
"Yes," the palace maids replied and left.
Sang Jiang pulled Nangong Luoying to sit down next to her.
Nangong Luoying held Sang Jiang's hand: "Royal sister, what should we do? I feel so bad."
